BlackBerry :: Protect: Send A Message After Wipe Device?
Sep 27, 2011
My wife just lost her BlackBerry 9750 Curve... It had the BB Protect app. I could track his location for a couple of hours and send a display message for return call.... but not answer... so I wiped it.Now, I'm not sure if the device is off, or the wipe procedure has already delete the Protect App...
A few years ago my work blackberry was stolen while I was traveling. My office was able to send a command to the blackberry to instruct the phone wipe its data. Fast forward to yesterday when I lost my personal blackberry with AT&T. I would like a similar command to be sent to the lost phone. I brought it up with AT&T customer service who have never heard of such a thing.
I have a Torch 9860, and just completed another backup using BlackBerry Protect. This is not my first backup, FYI.And the strange this is every time I login to protect.blackberry.com, my device is not shown.
I cannot send when I reply to a message from my blackberry. There is no send option. Just save draft or full menu which does not have send function either. Need a fix ASAP.
Also, another wierd thing is I set up my profile so that I can have an alert when email messages come in and it does not work. All the other notifications work fine with that profile and the try me works fine but does not work when email messages come in.
my phone is having a strange problem. When I send email to one peron, it returns a general failure message. It's only this person, with both of their email addresses.
I have a new BB Torch 9810 and I'm trying to restore from BB Protect but not all contacts restore - and it seems random which ones don't. I tried a resolution posted about unticking not restoring contacts which are e-mail synchronized but the only option under "Synchronisation Options" on my Torch is "Deleted items". When I look at the back-up data on Protect for the old device (Torch 9800) each synch has 2 Address Book entries with different numbers of items. Could it somehow be restoring only one of these two files?
I didn't see that you can't use BB Protect when using Enterprise Server. I need to uninstall this program as it seems to be blocking my BB from getting emails from the Enterprise Server.
I don't have the option to delete the app when I click on the BB button. I also don't see it listed in Options > Advanced > Service Book to delete it there.
I mada a backup from all my data on blackberry protect website, and then I wiped my device, after this tried to restore the data again it wont le me do this and it says my wireless service plan doesnot include blackberry protect or it says my data service plan does not include blackberry protect i checked with my service provider and everything is ok from their side, and I tried deferen t sim carrds and it says the same, I checked the online support it says Navigate to Options > Device > Advanced System Settings > Host Routing TablePress the Menu button and select Register Now.but nothing was done and it still gived me same message
Passwords in my password keeper are also backed up? When I back up my data with BlackBerry Protect. It says it will back up my contacts, and memo, but nothing about my passwords.
i tried to download the new software for my Blackberry which resulted in my phone crashing and having to re-install everything. When i logged onto Blackberry protect to retrieve my contacts there was only backups from the new installation. Surely this defeats the object of having the protect application?
However, when I uninstalled it, I couldn't find how to re-install it again as the "reinstall" button doesn't appeaar anymore whereas I can easily reinstall other apps that I have uninstalled...
I have a new Bold 9930 on Sprint and I actually erased Blackberry Protect. It is not in My World in App World. I looked no App World and cannot find it. Is there anyway to reload, download or restore it again?
Originally I was having a problem where whenever I tried to load an application onto my device I would get an error saying that there was not enough room on the device. (Even though there was about 15GB left...)I decided to try a "Data Wipe" from the Settings menu. The Data Wipe seems to have worked a little too well and wipe everything on the device except the browser app. The device also does not connect to the PC anymore.Whenever I connect it to a computer the "BlackBerry Smartphone" driver installs but nothing else. The Device Manager does not recognize it either. Nor does the Desktop Manager.I have tried a couple different computer and nothing has worked.I have also tried to install the device update, but because none of the drivers will recognize the device I cannot install the update as the update tool does not recognize the device is plugged in.
To Whom It May Concern:My Gmail Contacts are not syncing since I wiped my BB. My BB is setup the same as it was and the Wireless Synchronisation option is set to Yes in the Contacts' Options. My e-mail and calendar still sync properly, how do I get my contacts to sync again?
If an user loses his device and the password is entered wrong 10 times the device wipes itself and the password will be erased too so the phone could be used like new.
Is there any way to prevent security wipe from deleting the device password? Is there any way to disable security wipe? (Maybe finding and deleting the .cod file)
2 days ago my friend brought his 9700 for me to upgrade OS. I used security wipe, then tried using BBSAK to wipe the OS and it asked for password. Then I used AppLoder to install the new OS and it asked for password again.
Why didn't security wipe delete the device password this time?
I had a BB Torch 9860 when it came out and sent back to Vodafone UK for replacement for exact same model, when i go online on blackberry protect i can still see old device there i have manage to remove it and i need to add this new one into it however i can not seem to find where the heck is the option to do that
I currently have the BB 8520 with 4.6 software, I've been doing to get the O.S 5 update following the 'Upgrade Guide'. I've tried deleting the vendor.xml file but still not luck it still keeps on saying it doesn't have "BlackBerry Device Software". I've tried to following things.
1. Searching my entire computer for another vendor.xml file
2. Re-installing both the upgrade and Desktop Manager
Still no luck, can anybody try and help me out? I've done some searching on the forum and found nothing.
Afternoon, my blackberry was stolen last night so i have gone onto the blackberry protect site to wipe up my data, etc. but the site shows 'add device'. my device is not showing? i know it was definitely installed on my phone because it always used to tell me that my backup was successful after backing up and also, it is on my blackberry app world.
I'm currently using OS 5.0.0.464 on my bold and planning to upgrade to .592. Is it actually necessary to wipe the device before installing the new OS coz when i installed .464 i didn't wipe my bold.
"Message Send Failure" every time I send pictures on message? This is also happening on my husband's phone. I have the 5C and he has the 5S. This all started about 4-5 weeks ago. The picture do however go through.
This might be a stupid question, but I've done some searching and I can't find the answer.I have the Tour 9630, and if I choose to do the OTA update, will it wipe my device? Do I need to backup my e-mail's, contact's, ect?
I know there is Blackberry Protect come with the device after Blackberry OS7. And the device will be asked to wipe its data if I change to another SIM card (without data access). Is there anyway that I can change the SIM card bypassing that if the SIM card does not have any internet connection?
What is the best way to wipe my device before downgrading the device? Is it possible to downgrade os without wiping?3. Alots of downgrades/upgrades and everything may damage the device some how?Im using windows vista 64bit
Can the blackberry desktop manager software remotely wipe out all data and reset it to factory settings? I have bb curve 8530 and I have no information on what software update exactly is the desktop manager.
