BlackBerry :: Dev Alpha Won't Connect To PC After Data Wipe
Jun 7, 2011
Originally I was having a problem where whenever I tried to load an application onto my device I would get an error saying that there was not enough room on the device. (Even though there was about 15GB left...)I decided to try a "Data Wipe" from the Settings menu. The Data Wipe seems to have worked a little too well and wipe everything on the device except the browser app. The device also does not connect to the PC anymore.Whenever I connect it to a computer the "BlackBerry Smartphone" driver installs but nothing else. The Device Manager does not recognize it either. Nor does the Desktop Manager.I have tried a couple different computer and nothing has worked.I have also tried to install the device update, but because none of the drivers will recognize the device I cannot install the update as the update tool does not recognize the device is plugged in.
I updated my original dev alpha device to the newest OS release... While all the features are good.. the problem is with camera when i start the camera it displays a black screen ..all the camera functions work though and it can take photos..only the display becomes black..when we rotate the device the black screen disappears for a moment and then reappears...

To Whom It May Concern:My Gmail Contacts are not syncing since I wiped my BB. My BB is setup the same as it was and the Wireless Synchronisation option is set to Yes in the Contacts' Options. My e-mail and calendar still sync properly, how do I get my contacts to sync again?
If an user loses his device and the password is entered wrong 10 times the device wipes itself and the password will be erased too so the phone could be used like new.
Is there any way to prevent security wipe from deleting the device password? Is there any way to disable security wipe? (Maybe finding and deleting the .cod file)
2 days ago my friend brought his 9700 for me to upgrade OS. I used security wipe, then tried using BBSAK to wipe the OS and it asked for password. Then I used AppLoder to install the new OS and it asked for password again.
Why didn't security wipe delete the device password this time?
My wife just lost her BlackBerry 9750 Curve... It had the BB Protect app. I could track his location for a couple of hours and send a display message for return call.... but not answer... so I wiped it.Now, I'm not sure if the device is off, or the wipe procedure has already delete the Protect App...

I desperately need more storage on this phone.. The only way I have found to gain extra storage is to have root and use StickMount. I have a lot of info and game saves that I don't want to lose to a data wipe though. Is there a safe root method on stock 5.1.1 that doesn't wipe data?
A few years ago my work blackberry was stolen while I was traveling. My office was able to send a command to the blackberry to instruct the phone wipe its data. Fast forward to yesterday when I lost my personal blackberry with AT&T. I would like a similar command to be sent to the lost phone. I brought it up with AT&T customer service who have never heard of such a thing.
I have had this error message on my Curve 8520.What solutions are there besides wipping the data on the device. Is there a way to backup the data before erasing all the data? I have looked into these solutions: url...The solution using JL_Cmder/javaloader its not working as I have XP64 and OS X.Desktop manager does not recognize the device and/or freezes. Hence I am unable to do a backup.
Most of my contacts were copied over when I got the SGS5. However, now when I add new contacts, the phone is saving them in alpha order by first name instead of last name, which I prefer. Is there a place where I can select to save by alpha last name?
Has anyone noticed that the device software v5 upgrade has a bug? I am unable to activate the alpha keyboard to enter registration codes for my purchased applications. Only the numberical keyboard is working.
I was reloading the OS and at some point it DC'd or something in the final stages of the installation, and it wont reconnect now....the operating system seems to be fine, but it has none of my stuff on it, how can i get it connect to reload my data?
Rim needs to come to an agreement with other cell phone companies so we can use our data packages with the blackberry like chatr wireless, I can not use my data plan from chatr wireless because they tell me rim doesn't allow it?
I use my BlackBerry bold 8110 abroad in a country where Blackberry Internes Services are not supported. (Estonia) However the provider here (I use a local sim card) puts intenet connection in my bill.
Now the query is, can the phone connect to something itself? or is the provider ripping me off? :-) when I use my phone here with the local sim card the browser icon doesn't appear on the desktop and I have no apps that I have installed on my phone.

I've got a blackberry 9780 and have upgraded to a 9790, I know to get all my messages, contacts etc I need to back up my phone and restore it onto my new one, but I was wondering do I need to add my email accounts before I restore my messages (this includes e-mails) onto my new phone?
Is there a way to recover data lost from my Calendar schedule if I had not made any sort of backup? Everything disappeared when I disconnected the syncronization before it ended.
I am new to these forums and Blackberry. In Gibraltar, we have a Telecom provider whose data plan is £29.00 a month.
I would like to get a Blackberry but have been told that apart from the phone rental and call charges I have to pay the £29.00 a month data package to enable any email functions on the phone.
This apparently is due to the setup between my provider (Gibtel) and RIM.I have the choice of many other phones which mean I can use emails and all the functionality of the phone without (e.g. Wifi) having a data plan.
I am migrating from an bbery 9650 to an iphone 4. I have a lot of data in the bberry password keeper. I have downloaded a password app onto the iphone. How do I move the data from the bberry to the iphone?
