I'm selling one of my 3GS, it is jailbroken 3.1.2 and unlocked. What do I do to safely wipe out my personal information and not loose the jailbreak?I also want to make sure that it is ready for the buyer to use overseas.

2 weeks ago i put my iphone 4s (bought just a year ago) in to washing machine with clothes. It did work with rice but it did come on with 'Reviveaphone" kit. iPhone is charging and texts are coming through but touch screen not responding. So, I think I've lost the battle in getting my iphone back as it was. I'm going to buy a new iphone. But first I want to back up my data on old iphone to icloud - best way to do this? Also, I then want to delete all my personal data from old iphone - but not sure how to do this with iphone screen not working.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I turn on the cellular data option the personal hotspot function bar appears with the wording "Personal Hotspot" and the wheel appears and goes around and around forever. If I turn the iPhone off and back on (with cellular data turned on) then the personal hotspot bar appears with the wording "Set up Personal Hotspot" and not wheel spinning. When the wheel is spinning I assume that processing is going on and using battery, not good! By the way I do not use the personal hotspot function.

(Even though there was about 15GB left...)I decided to try a "Data Wipe" from the Settings menu.The Data Wipe seems to have worked a little too well and wipe everything on the device except the browser app. The device also does not connect to the PC anymore.Whenever I connect it to a computer the "BlackBerry Smartphone" driver installs but nothing else. The Device Manager does not recognize it either. Nor does the Desktop Manager.I have tried a couple different computer and nothing has worked.I have also tried to install the device update, but because none of the drivers will recognize the device I cannot install the update as the update tool does not recognize the device is plugged in.

My SIM was still in the phone when I did the restore and after it restored and restarted it still had my number when I clicked on "iPhone" in iTunes. Even without the SIM it still reads my number, is this because the phone was automatically activated with the SIM in it after the restore?
Will I be ok as long as I take the SIM out?
selling 3gs tonight Ive read all the posts about the best way to prepare. cant I simply erase my email, notes etc and then give it to him.
when he syncs i know it will erase the apps pics etc but will it erase the base band unlock and hte jb itself?
Or should i restore to 3.1.2 an re jb/reunlock and then make sure i don't restore from backup then when he syncs even though it has cydia on it already it will still be a new phone according to his itunes when he syncs?
What is the deal wiht my baseband. im still on 07 something. if i just do a restore from my saved 3.1.2 on pc that wont affect my baseband since i never upgraded. so am i good?
I'm prepping my 3GS for selling. I just did:
1) Erase all content and settings.
2) Then I put it in DFU mode, and restored to 3.1.3 (the only SHSH I have on file).
3) Then I jailbroke with spirit.
4) Then I ran the spirit2pwn hack.
5) Then I restored to a custom pwned 4.0 firmware.
6) Then when it was done, the iphone screen says "iPhone is now activated", and on the computer I was at the screen to set up as a new phone or restore from backup.
7) I do neither of those things and then unplug the phone from the computer. Loaded up cydia and installed ultrasn0w.
8) Rebooted the device.
9) On the iPhone, went into settings -> General -> Store, and logged out of my iTunes account. (Don't know why it was even logged into that)
Am I all set to sell it? And how had it gotten logged into my iTunes if I never set up the phone? Maybe when it "activated" it does?
I sold my iPhone4 to stay with my 3GS. ATT said I need to get a new sim to keep my 3GS since I had to activate my iPhone4 which wiped out my old sim. Do I ship the iPhone4 with the micro-sim or no?

However, this does not remove the Verizon phone number from the device. Verizon won't work with the phone because the screen is cracked.

My one week old e72 came with a scratch under the glass. I have been a bit worried that any pressure on the phone in the future might lead the screen to crack, so to be on the safe side I am having the handset replaced straight away by my mobile network. I am expecting a doorstep exchange in the morning, and they will collect the old phone all boxed up and provide a new sealed e72 in the box.So, I need to delete all my information from the handset and memory card. So far I have formatted the memory card and done a factory reset from the phone menu, then a factory reset as detailed in another thread I found on here (* +3 + call).
