I just got my new Bold 9700 and the included 2 GB memory card is showing up as almost full. Through Media Manager I see the culprit is a bunch of backup files, including a file called ArcNB.NBZ (this file alone is 1.5 GB). Anyone know why this is on here? Can I safely delete it along with other backup files?

I think it's still downloaded on my phone as I am still signed in to messenger, I just can't locate the file. Can anyone help me with this?

I did a normal backup and just before it finished, a message came up saying the DM could not backup one Theme. I clicked OK and then it comes up with another message and it says Backup completed ... click OK .So is it just one theme that's odd and not being backed up? (which I don't mind) With (hopefully) the rest of my stuff backed up as usual.

View 11 Replies View RelatedIt wiped my old calendar entries (even though I have "Keep Forever" selected on the options), but I need all the past calendar items because I used it for keeping track of meetings, events, etc.Short of reinstalling an old backup, copying into Outlook, and then re-installing my current version, is there any other way of getting that info out of the backup file and into Outlook. I really don't want to install a previous version of the backup onto my phone because when I do, it never carries over many of the phone ringing settings, etc. and it takes me forever to get things back to normal.(I am running an older version of the device software on my phone (5.0.0.714) because I can't stand the new version's calendar view.)
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Bold 9700 will not back up (via BB Desktop) and will not, as a result, upgrade to the latest version of OS6.It starts off OK, but by halfway through it says there is a problem and that BB Desktop is disconnecting. Only this just leaves the phone hung and all I can do to get the phone back is a battery pull.I have a Bold 9900 coming tomorrow, so unless i get this fixed I am going to have problems upgrading to the new Bold.

And before you ask, no, a few battery pulls didn't fix my situation.My "4/S" button on my bold has turned super sensitive. if you breathe the wrong way - your text/screen will be filled will dozens of little "s" on the rampage. For example, if you type in the question "How are you today?" it will come up as, "ssshsow assrsse you tosssdssasssy?"As this is a hardware problem with my phone and as I am at the end of my contract, I am quite content to purchase a new phone.
However, due to the "s' button repeating like a bunny and my being half asleep when i checked my phone last night and accidently turning it OFF - I can not enter in my pin number nor my puk number into my phone. (the numbers come up as stars so I can't see which is the number I wish to enter over forty-seven thousand little 4s insinutating their way in.
Typing in the 4 numbers of my pin comes up as "********************"
Tying in the 8 numbers of my PUK comes up as "*******************************************************************"
The keyboard being broken is neither here nor there but I am explaing this to illustrate my dilemma.
(1) is it possible to somehow fiddle something so I can actually see the numbers instead of stars when I enter in my pin and puk code so I am able to delete the "4/s" when they occur and be able to open my phone and then do a backup or
(2) Is it possible to do a back up or unlock the phone using the computer while my phone is now asking for the PUK?
When I attempt to do OTA with any JAD file I get an error on my phone. The item you selected cannot be displayed. Do you wish to save this file on the media card?
if I click No, it says:
Unsupported media type: jad
if I click yes, it just downloads a very small file and won't let me open it -- its not the full .JAD file anyway, only about 3kb. But what could be wrong?
i used to be able to go to Media, then hit menu key, Explore, and i could view the files on my media card. this option seemed to disappear. where am i going wrong?

I also tried to restore specific items.... the option to restore contacts does not allow me to tick it for restoration. I have a Bold 9700, abt 2.5 yrs old. Due to some glitch the complete contacts list is in the back-up, my google sync has only half !!

The problem began when I tried to delete them and I found out that the delete option is unavailable due to syncing them onto my phone and what's worse is that the original files are gone. I am currently doing a backup and restore on my Windows 7 Laptop (see other thread i started for reason.The tasks have been running fine, until the restoring process/task where it is currently on Task 12/12. However, the task seems to have not made any further progress after approximately 55% of the overall restore process, and 80% of Database: BBGroups. there is no option to cancel (its greyed out) and the yellow bar at the top is telling me not to disconnect the device as the device/data may become unusable if disconnected before the process finishes.
The overall process was quick (approx 15 minutes) until the above it's taken over an hour now and it doesnt seem like it will ever finish.
I just downloaded the new OS, and for some reason my contacts got messed up.
Some contacts were tripled, and doubled, some numbers were moved to different contacts, or deleted.
Is there a simple, or any kind of way to get back my old contacts list from a previous backup, while at the same time keeping the new OS, and replacing only this contact list?
My 9700 wont connect to my PC to backup or tu updare the software is keeps on saying "could not establish communication with device" it starts to work but then doesnt finish the job.i did a battery pull, restarted PC tried several times it doesnt work why?

So I checked the box to hide files on my media card but it seems that I can't get them back - I am using 5.0.0.423 and the "explore" option is not present when I click the menu button under "media". Any other ideas?

Sample Pictures
I have set a folder to store pics in on my media card. After moving all the pics to that folder I go back and under the tab All Pictures those same pictures that I moved to the folder on my media card are there also. I tried to delete those but it says the pictures are in use. How do I remove the pictures from the All Pictures folder? Also is there anyway to delete the Sample Pictures?
With computers I know you should un-install programs carefully and a certain way..I was wondering with my blackberry, is there a deifference weather I delete an App using my device, or using the Desktop Manager? Is one safer in the long run?
