BB Bold 9700 :: What Is Default For Memo Text Files?
Jan 12, 2010
What file folder on the Blackberry (Device Memory), please, is the default for storage of MemoPad txt files? I created a sample memo and cannot find it with the explorer on either the device memory or the sd card. I am wondering whether I can use this for business -- each client has a text file in their own folder, and each client has been assigned a category for task purposes -- the text files have my billing entries, contact information, and notes about the client. I want to make use of MemoPad, but need to better understand how this thing operates.
I got the Bold 9700 from AT&T on Saturday and I have unlocked it and started using it on the Bell network as of yesterday. Before getting the Bell SIM card, I upgraded it to the latest OS from Bell (platform 5.1.0.116 ; app version: 5.0.0.423).I was taking notes on a memo, and I suddenly started getting an error saying "Memo updated externally. Changes will be lost and the viewer closed." I'm pretty used to saving on a regular basis, so I didn't lose too too much of my notes. It started saving OK for a while on the same note after it happened twice within about 5 attempted saves (so the 3 or so in between did work). At one point my memo got duplicated for some reason. I deleted it and was working with the one left. Eventually it started doing it every time I tried saving a note regardless as to whether or not I actually made any changes to it. Finally after not touching my BlackBerry for a while, the memo has disappeared. Not quite sure what's going on with my memos at this point. I haven't synced my BlackBerry with the computer at all today. I'm using BIS, and I have nothing that should be modifying my memos.
I am wondering if there is anything I can do or if I should downgrade back to AT&T's latest available OS version which is older than Bell's latest. I've found no one having these issues with memos, only with contacts and calendar entries. I've always used my BlackBerry for taking notes that are very important for me.
Just picked up a Bold 9700 today. So far, I've been impressed with the phone itself. One thing I'm wondering though is can the application icons on the bottom of the main (wallpaper) screen be changed for other applications? This is the default theme that came with the phone, btw. I've seen screen shots of this theme with different application icons. I set up 2 emails on my phone and now my phone has the Messages icon, 2 email icons, SMS/MMS icon, Contacts icon, and Calendar icon. I'd like to be able to switch these around if possible. For instance, I only want to see the "overall" Messages icon, and replace the 2 email icons.
Me and two others recently got new bold 9700 phones through work. For some reason my phone doesn't have maps or application center in the homescreen. The phone also doesn't allow me to download the AppWorld through the phone browser.I know maps and application center are installed because they are in the Options->Applications list. I also installed the AppWorld through connecting the phone to my computer. Again AppWorld doesn't show up on the homescreen but does in the applications list.
The only difference (after having a quick look) between my phone and their phones is their 'default browser configuration' is set to 'internet browser', mine only has the option of 'Vodafone Live' or 'Hotspot browser'I tried putting one of their sim cards in my phone, and I still didn't have the applications in the homescreen. All three of us have plugged our phones into the computer and updated the phones - think in the same way.
Carrier: Vodafone Model info and OS version: Bold 9700 v5.0.0.593 (Platform 5.1.0.147)
I found the bold 9700 that I have now, and I've already unlocked it. It apparently has an IT block disallowing third party apps from being downloaded, I looked it up and to remove this it says to restore the factory default settings.
i have tried to change the default browser on my 9700 but when i try there is no other options than hotspot browser and i cant edit it for internet browser or blackberry browser
I recently upgraded my bold 9700 to OS 6. I want to use WiFi as default browser. In OS 5 there was option to set the default browser. Is it possible to set Wifi as default browser in OS6?
Im not happy with the default email client. I was wondering if theres another email client for bb that synchronizes as good as the default one. Ive tried the gmail application but i have to manually check for new emails. Looking forward to responses!
I bought a new Bold 9700 a week ago.I got the synchronisation with my PC's Outlook working for calendar and contacts OK.Two days ago I set up the Blackberry so I could get my emails on it as well as the PC.Now when I go to synchronise, I get a message on the Blackberry Desktop Manager saying "The default service for your device's Calendar has changed since the last time you synchronised."Click OK to use your new default servicer and combine your data "."Click cancel to stop the synchronisation and revisit your default service options on your device."I have no idea why the default servce has changed (don't even know what it means) and what I should do. The calendar default service on the Bold shows my email address, so I guess it is something to do with my email setup.
I just started using a bold 9700. My only problem is, after receiving baout 10 test messages, i get a popup saying my sim card is nearly full! I dont want my phone to save messages to my sim, but rather my device. Ive done a lot of research and every answer refers me to going to text messaging options and unselecting "e Leave Messages On SIM Card" check box. The problem there is, I dont have that option
I have installed the Opera Mini 5 browser, and I am thinking of making it the default browser. When I go to Browser Options>Browser Configuration or Browser Options>General Properties, the list of available browser options does not include Opera Mini.Anyone got any suggestions?
I noticed that when I send a lot of text to one person, eventually the sending will freeze and I cannot open a text from this one person. Is this a common issue? I am on ATT and running .296
I recently added my gmail address to device. In Options/ Advanced options / Default services It only lists my Gmail account for contact List (Sync).I want to switch to my POP account as that is where I maintain my contact list.how do I get my POP acct in that list?
I'm trying to open zip compressed file on my BB Bold and it says: Unable to display file //media card/IM_Main-40.zip Thx for any inputs and I'm a newbie to BB, so forgive for simple questions.
I was messing around with my blackberry and accidentally removed Windows Messenger. How do I get it back. There's no undo button and I realised it as soon as I had done it. I think it's still downloaded on my phone as I am still signed in to messenger, I just can't locate the file. Can anyone help me with this?
The data sheet of the BB Bold 9700 says that the video format mp4 as well as the avi format is supported. But when I start a mp4 file only the audio is working. The error message: "the video part is not supported". The avi file format is not supported at all: "cannot open the file".
When I attempt to do OTA with any JAD file I get an error on my phone. The item you selected cannot be displayed. Do you wish to save this file on the media card? if I click No, it says: Unsupported media type: jad if I click yes, it just downloads a very small file and won't let me open it -- its not the full .JAD file anyway, only about 3kb. But what could be wrong?
i used to be able to go to Media, then hit menu key, Explore, and i could view the files on my media card. this option seemed to disappear. where am i going wrong?
I have a brand new Blackberry Bold 9700 - just started it up. I set up synchronization with Outlook and everything went smoothly. The Device Manager log shows that Memo Pad data was transferred to the device. But I cannot find the Memo Pad Icon (or the Task icon or the Search Icon...). I've looked everywhere. From reading other posts, it appears that I may have to reinstall the device operating system. Is that the case? If so, it's pretty discouraging to have to do this with a brand new BB.
