I just installed the 45.2.7.MB855 update on my Sprint Photon 4G and now both my WiFi and 4G wont turn on. When I go into Wireless & Network Settings and click on WiFi, all it says is Error and nothing happens. When I try to turn in 4G nothing seems to happen.I am able to turn on Bluetooth and 3G took a couple of Profile updates to get working.

B/C the SIM/APN issue was screwed up I was running my data over a mifi type device down here and now you've made the phone useless!and yes I have now rebooted multiple times after the "must have update" that you forced onto my phone with no warning?

I found this out within 5 minutes of installing the update.I have not played with the phone enough to find out if it broke anything else. I press the buttons, or icons on the screen to turn these on, and they do nothing. I can hold on the icon and it will allow you to move them though
View 15 Replies View RelatedSo about half an hr ago i got a prompt to update my phone to (45.2.5.en.US) and it installed successfully, then I had problems with WiFi and so restarted my phone, now when I try to access any app that requires WiFi it seems as though it doesn't read it. The browser works fine, but any other app doesn't.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHave noticed that my Photon can't seem to hold a WIFI connection. I can be sitting right next to my router, and it will drop the connection and start scanning again. Have noticed the same thing with other wifi connections at work. Also the WIFI connection sometimes goes dormant/gray and won't wake up on its own. The only solution is to turn the wifi connection off/on, or to cycle the power on the router. Not sure if its a setting that kills the connection after a period of inactivity, have looked in the settings but can't seem to find anything. I have had this problem pre and post update, but am frustrated as I've just passed my 30 days to return the phone easily if something is wrong with the phone.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter I update the PRL on this phone my 3G data stops working for anywhere between 1 minute and 5 minutes. It's like the phone completely loses contact with the EVDO network for up to 5 minutes before it wakes up and finds the signal again. Never happened on previous phones. Another firmware bug? Not a big deal but thought it was worth mentioning.

Tried forums but no concrete solution.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have my device set for Wi-Fi to stay on only when plugged in (Settings > WiFi > Advanced > Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep). (see pic #1) The goal being when the device is not in use the WiFi turns off to conserve battery and when I wake up the unit it automatically turns WiFi back on, scans for networks and auto connects to my preferred WiFi networks.Everything works great until the unit sleeps. When I wake it up WiFi never connects. WiFi is set to ON when you look under Settings but when you select the WiFi menu all it says is "Searching for WiFi networks" (see pic #2). Please don't tell me that there aren't any WiFi networks within range because I'm sitting 3 feet from mine now. I also gave it a good 10 minutes to scan, and even pushed the SCAN button.
The only way I can get WiFi to actually work is to turn off the WiFi then turn it back on. Only then will it actually scan for and connect to WiFi networks (see pic #3). Everything will work as intended until the unit goes back to sleep.It's not the end of the world but it is frustrating given it's a new phone. I can make it work by cycling the WiFi off & on or by changing the settings for WiFi to always stay on (even when sleeping).I already did a factory reset and did not install any other apps, not even system app updates found in the Play/Market.

It only works on wifi, but when connected through 3G UMTS, it says that there is not internet connection, and I'm pretty sure that there is internet connection available. Actually all other applications (Gtalk, Gmail, Browser, etc) are working fine with the 3G data, this is only happening with WhatsApp.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI used the Moto software to back up my phone yesterday, and since then it won't connect to wi-fi. It finds the signal, starts looking for an IP address, then stips the process. I've tried to turn off 3G and 4G, together and in combinations, updated PRL and profile, but to no avail. Even rebooted the router to make sure something wasn't wrong with it and other devices in the house are working just fine. Not sure if this has anything to do with the backup, but it's a problem I've never had before.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've had this Photon Q lte for 3 weeks, and the battery is ridiculous. I have to charge it at least twice a day, even when I'm not using it for anything. Wifi is always off because I don't need it, but sometimes my battery analysis lists wifi as having used almost 25% of the power! I can't find anywhere else to turn it off. I'm having serious regrets about being stuck with this thing for 2 years!

However, the wifi and phone strength meters grey out and there is no connectivity to the internet on the phone. The wifi network is WPA protected.The phone worked fine on a different, unprotected, network I found up the street.I have a cliq that works fine on my network.I have tried powering off and powering off in airplane mode, neither of which make a difference.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have several wifi devices (laptops / tablets) that connect without a problem to my home WPA2 secured wifi network.The photon detects this network and will connect to my home network, BUT ----Implied Profanity Removed---- there are many occassions when it will try to locate the router and try to connect but always loops with "obtaining IP address" -The only solution I have for the photon to connect is by manually rebooting or turning off/on the router, disabling photon wifi > re-enable photon wifi > select my home network and it will connectI have a static IP address for my main router connection and have assigned a DHCP range from : 192.168.31 - 192.168.254 with a lease expiry of 24 hours.
The router and my bandwidth (24mb down / 1.5mb up) has been going strong for a few years.What setting am I missing here or need to modify? I never had to reboot or reset my other wifi devices to ever connect, and I just changed the DHCP range to the above again today. I had a channel setting of "6" and changed it to "11" now also...Once the wifi is connected to the photon, it will stay connected for the most part, but if I leave the home or perhaps overnight the wifi gets disconnected resulting in me having to reboot the router, disable photon wifi, re-enable photon wifi for it to connect
Is there any way to change the preferred order of WiFi networks? My office has two WiFi networks, one for my office and one for the conference room down the hall. When I added the network for the conference room I found that when I'm in the office the phone keeps connecting to it, even though the signal is much weaker than the office network. I ended up just removing it from the list, however, when I'm in the conference room I have to re-add it, which is a pain because there's a long password. On my Windows laptop it's easy to just change the order and it will connect to the one closest to the top of the list, but I can't find anything like that on my Photon. It seems like it would be something pretty simple that would have been built-in.

I have two wireless routers (different SSIDs and channels), a Netgear WPNT834 Rangemax 240 (IP4) and a Netgear WNDR4000 (IP4/IP6).When both are setup in AP configuration, both produce the "violation of security policy" errors.If the WNDR4000 is setup as a wireless router with IP4 setup and IP6 set as automatic the errors are produced as usual by the photons.If the IP6 in the WNDR4000 is disabled in wireless router configuation the errors stop.There seems to be no duplicate packets presented to the Motorla Mobilty R910 router.Maybe these "violation of security policy" packets are not created properly or duplicated by the photon's IP6 drivers when dealing with IP4 only wireless routers?Perhaps this is the source of the photons wireless instability noted by many others?Of course these packet problems would ideally be confirmed by others with even better equipment.
Tried to update yesterday, downloaded and tried to install. Phone reboots and I get an android guy with an exclamation mark. When phone restarts, a notification pops up saying the update was not installed.

Today is my 13th day of Sprint's 14 day return policy and I will be returning first thing in the morning for a Galaxy S II if not resolved.
Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem. I type the address into my browser, and it says the link is broken. Does it have to be through firefox?

View 5 Replies View RelatedLast night when I turned on my wifi at home, the wifi and phone signal bars appeared but were gray and I had no internet/data connection. I checked the wifi settings which indicated I was connected with good to excellent signal. Toggled the Wifi on and off several times, and turned phone on and off, which did not work. Went into wifi settings and told it to forget settings and reconnected, same result. When I turn off wifi, 3G appears and data connection is restored. Left the phone on in the media dock all night, and this morning when I turned on wifi, all was fine. What does gray signal bar mean?

One more thing, i also tested it out, by going to the sprint store checking the floor model and comparing it to mine, it was way louder and didnt have the latest update.
I'm trying to setup the HDMI mirroring from my Photon, but can't get it to work. When I hook the hdmi cable to the phone, something happens because the Motorola logo shows up on the TV, but I don't get a prompt to select mirroring or video out. From what I've read, that's what I expected would happen.Any ideas what could be happening? Could this possibly be a defect in the phone? Some software setup issue? The only HDMI setting I can find is hte display area, and changing that doesn't affect this.
