After I update the PRL on this phone my 3G data stops working for anywhere between 1 minute and 5 minutes. It's like the phone completely loses contact with the EVDO network for up to 5 minutes before it wakes up and finds the signal again. Never happened on previous phones. Another firmware bug? Not a big deal but thought it was worth mentioning.

I am using a Photon on Sprint's 3G EVDO network. When I open the Settings application, and click on the option to check for Motorola software update, the following screen is displayed: "Check for update is not available at this time. Try again later." When I am on a Wi-Fi network, a similar message is displayed (no screenshot): "Your device is up to date! No update is necessary at this time." Can somebody please provide more information as to what specifically is causing the message in my screenshot below to appear?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed the 45.2.7.MB855 update on my Sprint Photon 4G and now both my WiFi and 4G wont turn on. When I go into Wireless & Network Settings and click on WiFi, all it says is Error and nothing happens. When I try to turn in 4G nothing seems to happen.I am able to turn on Bluetooth and 3G took a couple of Profile updates to get working.

Set this to only request to connect to a network if no other apps are running.
View 5 Replies View Relatedusing Photon 4G with Airtel prepaid sim with system version 45.3.6.MB855.Sprint.en, Whenever I run short codes (USSD codes) like *123# to check my prepaid GSM balance or interact with service provider by *121# it takes long time showing USSD code running.. and after few mins either shows MMI successfully complete or MMI failed but doesnt actually show the text which is shown in my other GSM phones; to query balance or activate some service. Tried forums but no concrete solution.

The data sheet [URL] shows the GSM frequencies as "GSM 850/900/1900".
The Sprint box for the Photon 4G shows the frequencies as "The GSM frequency band of 850/900/1800/1900" and adds "The UMTS frequency band of 850/1900/2100" (instead of WCDMA). I presume if the Photon could handle HSPA+ it would be mentioned by Motorola Mobility or Sprint.
Given the importance of the 1800 GSM band througout the world, shouldn't the Motorola Mobility Data Sheet be updated? (Given that Sprint is correct)
I have been checking for the latest update for a few days now and keep getting the message: "Check for update was not available at this time. Try again later." Is this because the GB update is being rolled out in stages still or is there a problem with my particular phone's ability to update?

View 10 Replies View RelatedLast night when I turned on my wifi at home, the wifi and phone signal bars appeared but were gray and I had no internet/data connection. I checked the wifi settings which indicated I was connected with good to excellent signal. Toggled the Wifi on and off several times, and turned phone on and off, which did not work. Went into wifi settings and told it to forget settings and reconnected, same result. When I turn off wifi, 3G appears and data connection is restored. Left the phone on in the media dock all night, and this morning when I turned on wifi, all was fine. What does gray signal bar mean?

Today is my 13th day of Sprint's 14 day return policy and I will be returning first thing in the morning for a Galaxy S II if not resolved.
Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem. I type the address into my browser, and it says the link is broken. Does it have to be through firefox?

View 15 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that the volume is low after last update, when i first got the phonw it was loud and clear. After the update i can hardly here the alamr anymore. My ringtones are low as well, even playing back music. Is anybody else having this issue, any suggestions?.
One more thing, i also tested it out, by going to the sprint store checking the floor model and comparing it to mine, it was way louder and didnt have the latest update.
I'm trying to setup the HDMI mirroring from my Photon, but can't get it to work. When I hook the hdmi cable to the phone, something happens because the Motorola logo shows up on the TV, but I don't get a prompt to select mirroring or video out. From what I've read, that's what I expected would happen.Any ideas what could be happening? Could this possibly be a defect in the phone? Some software setup issue? The only HDMI setting I can find is hte display area, and changing that doesn't affect this.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have a 2010 ford focus with the sync system. Every feature on the system used to work well with my bbry but now I have some issues with the photon.
1. When I use the bluetooth connection to try to stream pandora, my library starts to play automatically. It will run both applications simultaneously until I turn one off.
2. It only connects automatically about 50% of the time when I enter the car. I have two phones installed. The photon is the #1, my wife's evo is #2. It automatically connects to the evo upon entering the car with both phones, desite repeatedly re-installing. I need both installed because we trade cars often and it's a pain to re-install hers every time. it used to work fine with evo & bbry.
3. My music library does not show
On the plus side the photon lets me respond to text messages with the voice to text feature and the radio range is so good that if I move the car from out front into the driveway 60+ft away, the blue tooth STILL connects.
