I recently upgraded my Desktop Software to 7.0, and when I connected by Tour to sync it has been at the "Preparing sync preview" screen for about 40 minutes with the bar completely green. Is this a glitch with the new 7.0 software?

Every time I try to synchronize, the software gets stuck at "Preparing synch preview." I have taken the battery out of the Blackberry, rebooted my computer and backed up settings to my computer.

I am a user of the Blackberry Desk Top Manager, running under Windows XP Service Pack 4.5. I recently downloaded the latest version of Desk Top Manager and I am getting the following error: - Flashing intermittently, whilst running the newly downloaded Desktop Manager - "Windows Installer Preparing to Install". I have removed the programme, downloaded it again from Blackberry's website and run my Windows updates to no available. I have now been advised that I must format my entire computer and reload Windows, which seems to be a rather onerous solution, as I have been using Blackberry's Synchronisation Programme for over a year successfully before this took place.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install a software uodate on my E72 using Ovi Suite. I have not updated before. My phone is connected to my PC with a USB. I am using Windows XP. Ovi appears to have identified relevant updates and backed up the data on my phone. Ovi suite states that it is preparing to install. It has been like this for 4 hours. There is a warning not to disconnect the USB or switch off the phone or the phone may stop working. When I try to close Ovi suite it says it cannot be closed because it is busy. There is no option to cancel the install. My only options appear to be to shut down the PC or unplug the cable. Wish I had not started on this process.

I'd hoped there was desktop software similar to the Palm Desktop where you can view & modify calendar & contact info directly instead of having to use the BB for all data entry, but I don't see this feature in Desktop Manager. Am I missing something? It's a pity if this isn't available, it makes the BB a much less attractive option for me.

For example, if you highlight the Games folder and press the Blackberry options, one Tour can choose "edit folder" and pick a new Icon. The other Tour mine is missing that choice. Any fix? If I create my own folder, I have the feature, but not for my Games, Applications and other folder that were there in the old OS.

Itunes reads my device loads Step 1 and 2 but for some reasons it stops loading at Step 3 "preparing to sync" the bar doesnt freeze it just keeps going endlessly and doesnt continue on to Step 4, 5, or 6.

I've been using DM6 for the last week or so and am very disappointed. It does not seem to remember the last time that I synced or backed up. The only time it remembers is the first time I synced my BB with it. Not such a big issue for syncing, but I like my BB to backup weekly...so once a week has passed after the first sync, it wants to back up every time.
DM 5.0.1 worked flawlessly, but since I am using Outlook 2010, I can't go back.Come on RIM, you can do better than this.Any suggestions on how to get DM to remember when it actually backed up or synced?
I've got a BB9700, Bold 2.At home, Outlook, it syncs happily. At work, with Lotus Notes, it crashed when "updating the devide calendar". There was no issue a few months ago doing exactly the same thing.I'm not sure if it's related, but for some stupid reason I installed Facebook and accidently got the calendar to sync with facebook. I have now removed all entries for the Facebook calendar and al the Service book for Facebook calendar, so it now doesn't appear anywhere.
Facebook is blocked by works firewall, so I therefore assumed that was the problem, hence deleting all my calendar entries associated to Facebook.I've tried syncing with both Bluetooth and the cable.
At work, we use Novell Groupwise. Calendar syncs fine, but BB Desktop Manager crashes when I sync addresses. I can load one-way from the computer to the BB, but not the other way. I may have a corrupt address, but haven't been able to get it all to work. What do I do to stop this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to sync my BB with my desktop software. I was advised the only way i could get music on my BB was to take the memory card out the phone use an adapter to put music on then put the memory card back in BB.
Surely when i connect my BB to my laptop with the desktop software on it, i should be able to see the music and pictures that are on my phone, or should i not??
I have gone into the options menu on the screen and had a look at my memory, and it is telling me "Media Card cannot be read. Verify that the memory card is properly inserted, formatted and not corrupted".
I have also made sure that Mass Storage support is on, along with Media Card Support, but i still cant see anything.
I am using a Blackberry Torch and have the newest version of the Desktop Software (v6).When I try to setup my synchronization it gives me options for ASCII and Yahoo but not Outlook.What can I do? I find this hard to believe but would really like to quit wasting time finding an answer if Blackberry does not support the new OS.I am also using Outlook 2010 with Windows 7 Premium and cannot get the Blackberry Desktop to sync with Outlook 2010 during set-up.I can't believe Blackberry didn't know a new Outlook was coming out and syncing would be one of those key tasks.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a Blackberry 8330 curve that was purchased in October 2008.I loaded the Desktop Manager software from the disk that came with the phone. For a long while I was able to synche my calendar on the phone along with tasks, addresses,etc to outlook. Occasionally after finishing an error box would come up the Blackberry had detected an error and did I want to report it. I closed out the box since I was done working. About a week ago I was no longer able to synch and this error box would come up immediately. I have tried removing the software and downloading the version 5.0 software, hard re-setting the phone (which almost worked). I have updated to Internet Explorer 8 but this problem occured earlier as well.Last night I was able to back-up the device and set synchronization settings after the hard reset of the phone but now I cannot do anything. Desktop Manager opens fine, connects to my blackberry fine but as soon as I hit "Synch" it pops up the error message and whether I hit debug, don't send a report or send a report it closes me out completely.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWith my wife, we got 2 BB Curve 8520 and we're now trying to sync both of them with our Outlook 2003 SP3 on XP SP3. Both do the same thing:
1/ First sync goes well, the BB calendar gets filled up,
2/ Everything syncs well during a few days,
3/ One day, the sync tells us it will delete 3000+ elements on Outlook, of course I click Reject and cancel the sync,
4/ I restart OK by synching one-dir from Outlook tp BB,
5/ A few days after, it returns to step 3 and is behaving bad again.
I can't get any durable solution, the only thing I got is a workaround that lasts only a few days.
Our BB version (mine/my wife's) :
- Platform : 4.2.0.118 / 4.2.0.135
- Application : 4.6.1.274 / 4.6.1.314
I duly upgraded to Blackberry Desktop Software 6 when notified by automatic update check. Unfortunately, I had to downgrade back to 5.0.1 as I could not complete Organizer synchronization - I kept getting an error message saying that an unknown error had occurred. There didn't seem to be any log files I could look at to see what might be causing the problem.

When i try to sync everything looks fine with all entries. But if i sync again directly after a sync is finished, there are about 200 calendar entries to sync. If i resync these entries, the next time they should be synced again. Seems like al loop! Everytime i try to sync these 200 entries they found by DTM again to sync. I've erased the Device Cache and the Intellisync folder on the Desktop - but the problem still appears!
my tour 9630 stopped syncing with Outlook Addresses. Desktop Software indicates Address Book not installed. have reinstalled everything and no luck. Was ok previously.

The email address for that is different that my BB address. I don't think that should make a difference as I only want my contacts to be available in the address book there.I tried doing it thru desktop manager and it it seems to have transferred a small percentage of them but by no means all of them.

Various versions of the Blackberry Desktop software haven't helped. Either they will open the BB Desktop Software (Version 5.0) but won't synch to Outlook 2010, or the BB software loads apparently successfully, but won't open on the computer (Version 7.1). My husband says he tried all the BB desktop versions in between unsuccessfully.
