View 1 RepliesI am needing to upgrade to the OS v.5 but my Storm is not connecting to Desktop Manager. I can see that it's connected to my laptop by checking under My Computer. I've repeatedly done a hard reset for my Storm and also uninstalled/reinstalled the Desktop software, restarted my laptop. I also disabled Norton and Windows Firewall. Neither worked. I also decided to do a "wipe handheld" which SORTA worked but doesn't work. Desktop Manager recognizes the Storm connection but still remains disconnected and the phone continues to flash the screen "Connecting to desktop" and goes away. The last time my Storm was able to connect to the Desktop software was in August of 2009 when I was able to backup my data. Now, not only can I upgrade my OS, I can't restore my data because for some reason the phone and Desktop manager will not maintain a connection. I'm beyond frustrated at this point.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 9700 (v5.0.0.586) and I run Windows 7 (64-bit) Desktop Manager has the following heading at the top of the screen: Disconnected - BlackBerry Desktop Manager
It has an info window that says "Before you begin, verify that your current BlackBerry device is connected to your computer"
Windows appears to see the device as in the BlackBerry device manager properties I can see that USB-Blackberry 9700 is connected.
I cannot get DM to see the phone.
My Blackberry isn't being recognized when launching Blackberry Desktop Manager even though my PC is recognizing that the phone is plugged in?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Curve 8330 and cannot get the Desktop Manager to connect with it. This was a frequent problem for a long time until the latest DM upgrade. Suddenly, now the same thing is happening. DM just shows "connecting" but no connection takes place. I have uninstalled then downloaded and reinstalled v6 but all in fain.

View 1 Replies View RelatedPeriodically my Curve 3G will display a white screen with the message Connecting to Desktop. This can happen, for example, when I unlock my phone, or connect to a power supply. There is no way of removing the message apart from disconnecting the battery, and then rebooting. The phone cannot be used whilst it is displaying this message.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOkay, so it is a bit ironic that I am posting this question, as I have been helping others here on CB with BT/USB tethering for quite some time now. However, it looks as if the tables have turned!
Like many have reported over the past few months, Sprint has finally turned off the "back-door" free tethering connection that has been working for many years via BT and USB for many, many people. Over the years, I have activated and deactivated the "phone as modem" add-on several times, usually only when needed. Just last week, I called into CS and had them flip the switch ON.
My Tour was already setup for BT modem, and connected just fine, and since I turned it on, I have used the service many times. HOWEVER - just the other day, I tried to connect and my Tour's screen flashed white, and said "Connecting to desktop". I could not exit out of this screen, and also could not connect to the phone via BT to use as a modem. The blue BT light was flickering, and the computer was trying to connect for about 30 seconds, before failing - and once failed, the white screen went away, and the home screen reappeared.
I have NEVER seen this screen before - not even when connecting the phone via USB to the DM in either Windows or Mac. I am not sure what has happened since last week. I have not installed a new OS, nor have I changed any settings on the phone or in DM. Very odd!
I would appreciate any help or insight into this matter. I have already tried pairing the phone with the computer again - but still every time I go to connect via BT, the phone is now displaying the "Connecting to desktop" message with a white background. So weird! I am using Snow Leopard with a hybrid OS. Neither one of these factors should be the root of any issue - as I said earlier, just last week things were working fine - and I have made NO changes whatsoever since.
Only new apps downloaded since have been Bold, Opera, and QuickPull - however, I cannot imagine any of these apps to be interfering with tethering. I have tried battery pulls, and reconfiguring bluetooth settings - all to no avail.
Ive searched and havent really found a good answer to my problem, but when i connect my blackberry through the USB port, my computer and DM are not finding that its connected. Ive tried re-installing DM, re-starting my computer, re-booting my phone and none of these have worked. Is there something else that I am missing?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a BB9900 running device software 7.0. I also have BB Desktop Software 6.1.0.36 installed. I run Windows 7. I am trying to connect my computer to my BB using bluetooth so I can sync wirelessly. Bluetooth is enabled on my 9900 and my computer is a "paired device". However when I use the Desktop software and try to "add a bluetooth enable device" it can't find my phone. Also when I go through Devices and Printers on my computer I can see the phone (bluetooth is enabled on the computer) although there is a driver problem identified that windows can't fix.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been syncing just fine for months. Now all of the sudden when I plug in my phone to sync and backup, it doesn't do anything. It doesn't even try to detect my device. The only way I can make it work is to uninstall and reinstall the desktop program. But I'm sick of having to do that everytime I need to sync my phone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble connecting/syncing my Blackberry 9360 with the desktop software. After I select my phone from the list of devices an attempt is made to install all the needed drivers. 2 of 3 install automatically. The 3rd is 'not found'. I would imagine this is the problem. So far I have researched and attempted every possible fix I could find on the Internet, including manually selecting drivers as directed.Without this driver the desktop program does NOT SEE my device. Even so, I AM connected with my computer via bluetooth. I can force files to be be sent and/or received between my phone and computer but would really like the automatic ability to have everything synced without the need to plug in a cable.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy Blackberry Curve 9300 regularly reverts to a screen saying 'connecting to desktop'. The phone then 'freezes' on that screen and I cannot do anything and the only solution is to open the back, remove and replace the battery and wait for the phone to reboot. This seems to do the trick but it's happening quite frequently which is a major nuisance, particularly since the reboot process takes such an age. Is there anything I can do to stop this happening?
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason my phone turns on, and then the screen showing "Blackberry" with the loading bar appears, but it gets about 3 quarters of the way then flashes off then starts to repeat the same process. I am lost on what to do, even after reading several solutions that haven't worked! Also when I plug it into my computer and open Blackberry desktop software, it recognises the phone but won't connect to it!
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have the Torch 9800 and I'm running Wndows XP with the most recent version of Desktop manager.Up until two weeks ago my phone and computer communicated beautifully, syncing, back-ups, file sharing, everything. But last week my computer and phone seemed to fail to see each other and now nothing is happening when I plug my phone in. The phone goes to the 'clock' screen as if it's plugged into a charger and doesn't display a connection issue on it's end, but the computer does not show that anything has been connected. So far I have:
1) Checked the USB connection to the comptuter
2) Tried different USB ports
3) Tried a different USB cable
4) Wiped and re-installed Desktop manager on my computer
I'm at a loss on how to get my computer and phone talking to each other again.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running Vista with Black Berry Device Manager 5.0.1.11 and BBDevMgr 4.1.0.12. I am using the latest Microsoft Bluetooth drivers.
I can connect once and synch several times with my Blackberry Bold 9000. But as soon as I disconnect once, the Device Manager does not connect anymore when trying again.
I do recognice in the Bluetooth status window - both on the BB and Vista - that there is a short connection and breaks again. That repeats all the time.
If I try to search again for the BB, it is not found anymore. It is still registered in the Bluetooth devices but the Device Manager does not find it anymore.
Deleting the entry in the the Bluetooth device section does not help. I do have to do a reset (battery out or the alt-shift-del key) then I can reconnect once again.
Someone does have the same problem?
I am quite sure that the problem is in the Device Manager (not the Desktop Manager) - but it can also be a device software and / or hardware problem.
I'm having trouble getting my 9530 to connect to my computer via USB. When I plug it in there is a screen that is normally constant which shows two icons of the BB and the PC connecting. It flashes several times then goes away. The desktop software picks up the BB but doesn't really recognize it. I can perform a backup of the device but I can't use media sync, it says that mass storage needs to be turned on on the device. It is already turned on.I have attempted to use the BB on two completely different PC's with the same results. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the desktop software to no avail and of course performed power cycles on the PC's and BB itself all to no avail.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have used smartphones since the Civil War, and usually when there is a desktop to sync to, there is a calendar on the desktop. The only icons on the BB desktop are Media, Application Loader, Backup and Restore, Device Switch Wizard, Synchronize and IP Modem. Seems sort of unnecessarily idiosyncratic, but what do I know? I can't find anything on the BB site, where they evidently think email is the most important issue. Probably for some.

Can some one please tell me why my Storm2 is now asking me to verify my WiFi connection before connecting? This started today, all previous sites that I have programmed to connected to are now telling me that they are untrust worthy, and is asking me to verify if I want to continue or cancel the connection.
