How can i upgrade my bold OS without connecting to desktop manager. As per my desktop manager there is no upgrade available, but my phone carrier launced an upgraded module in UK, but that's not launched in India yet. how can i upgrade my phone which is in india with the module launched by Vodafone in U.K
View 3 Repliesmy blackberry bold 9000 is not working.. i mean 2 days before it suddenly reboot and after that it wont start. its red light flash for 30 second then its tried to loading but in 10 seconds it reboots again and it is not starting. even when i tried to connect it with pc, it is not connecting with desktop manager. i am worried. i searched for all solutions but not getting any usefull information.

I am trying to connect my computer to my BB using bluetooth so I can sync wirelessly. Bluetooth is enabled on my 9900 and my computer is a "paired device". However when I use the Desktop software and try to "add a bluetooth enable device" it can't find my phone.Also when I go through Devices and Printers on my computer I can see the phone (bluetooth is enabled on the computer) although there is a driver problem identified that windows can't fix.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been syncing just fine for months. Now all of the sudden when I plug in my phone to sync and backup, it doesn't do anything. It doesn't even try to detect my device. The only way I can make it work is to uninstall and reinstall the desktop program. But I'm sick of having to do that everytime I need to sync my phone.

Suddenly, now the same thing is happening. DM just shows "connecting" but no connection takes place. I have uninstalled then downloaded and reinstalled v6 but all in fain.

Ive tried re-installing DM, re-starting my computer, re-booting my phone and none of these have worked. Is there something else that I am missing?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have the Torch 9800 and I'm running Wndows XP with the most recent version of Desktop manager.Up until two weeks ago my phone and computer communicated beautifully, syncing, back-ups, file sharing, everything. But last week my computer and phone seemed to fail to see each other and now nothing is happening when I plug my phone in. The phone goes to the 'clock' screen as if it's plugged into a charger and doesn't display a connection issue on it's end, but the computer does not show that anything has been connected.So far I have:
1) Checked the USB connection to the comptuter
2) Tried different USB ports
3) Tried a different USB cable
4) Wiped and re-installed Desktop manager on my computer
I'm at a loss on how to get my computer and phone talking to each other again.
Anyone know why I can't upgrade from OS5 to OS6 using desktop manager?

But the icon is not available.I have tried to remove and re-add using Desktop Manager with no success. This appears to be a known issue: the problem is you are missing one module. If you look in Options / Advanced Options / Applications / BlackBerry Maps, you should see four:net_rim_bb_lbsnet_rim_bb_lbs_apinet_rim_bb_lbs_ribbonnet_rim_bb_lbs_resource_en I am missing the ribbon module. Been unable to download from the BB Website I cannot do a show all on the home screen as that option does not exist.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am needing to upgrade to the OS v.5 but my Storm is not connecting to Desktop Manager. I can see that it's connected to my laptop by checking under My Computer. I've repeatedly done a hard reset for my Storm and also uninstalled/reinstalled the Desktop software, restarted my laptop. I also disabled Norton and Windows Firewall. Neither worked. I also decided to do a "wipe handheld" which SORTA worked but doesn't work. Desktop Manager recognizes the Storm connection but still remains disconnected and the phone continues to flash the screen "Connecting to desktop" and goes away. The last time my Storm was able to connect to the Desktop software was in August of 2009 when I was able to backup my data. Now, not only can I upgrade my OS, I can't restore my data because for some reason the phone and Desktop manager will not maintain a connection. I'm beyond frustrated at this point.

I've unistalled Destop Manager, reverted back to 5.0.0 and I still have the same issue. This was and is currently setup with my Outlook 2003 (SP3) exchange server to forward my work emails, and it worked up until I updated to 5.0.1 last week.
Since upgrading to Version 5.0.1 neither the media manger nor blackberry media synch now work. the media manager always prompts to install and downloads but then does nothing. The blackberry media sync gets so far after launch the gives an error message. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling a number of times but cannot get the media manager to install so cannot now get any media off my phone or on to it. Any ideas anyone?

The link takes me to the BB site for software, but it directs me to the same version of DM I already have. I've even uninstalled and installed again hoping that would help.I read in the BB troubleshooting forum that the most current is 1.0.3 build 23, but the one I'm using is build 19. Which is also the one that is linked to on the site I'm just lost how do I get to build 23?I also posted this in the Mac section a couple days ago, but no response.

I have a brand new Windows 7 64-bit machine, that never had the Desktop Manager installed. I have installed version 5.01 off of the web site. Windows is able to see the Blackberry in the Device Manager just fine and I can also see the internal storage available under My Computer and I can access all folders. The Virtual Ports (COM3 and COM4) are also available in Device Manager.
I went through and followed the clean uninstall and reinstall instructions and various other suggestions that I have already seen. For whatever reason, the Desktop Manager still won't see the BB. When going into Options in the Desktop Manager, it shows that USB is selected but still nothing under PIN.I am connected to the straight USB port on the back of the computer and have tried several there.

I am having difficulty syncing my device to my computer.
I am running Vista 32 bit on a Dell Inspiron 1525.
I have downloaded Desktop Manager 5.0.1 B49 MultiLanguage - Without Media Manager successfully and downloaded the latest version (I have seen elsewhere that this version is suggested for the bold 9700).
My computer recognizes the device but from the Found New Hardware prompt as a RIM Composite Device but In the desktop manager it says that there is no device plugged in.
I have also turned on media card support and mass storeage mode.
I cannot find the appropriate driver through the device manager either.
I did a couple battery pulls and connection re-tries in different usb ports.
When i run the desktop manager setup file, the installation process begins, and shows me a dialogue box that says 'pending .net framework' and i hit install to let it start. It goes through a couple of dialogue boxes and after like 5 mins, an error appears saying 'this requires that .net 3.5 sp1 shouild be installed' and i hit finish and it is exited.

In my case, may be, the problem is my Windows Vista is not using the Blackberry USB driver; instead, it uses a standard usb driver. I tried to update it in the Device Manager, by selecting the ones that is found in program FilesCommon FilesResearch In MotionUSB Drivers, but the process always finishes telling me the driver is up to date. The result is, Windows recognices the unit, even if I connect it as a USB unit, and if I connect it for Multimedia sincronization; but BB Desktop Manager does not see it.
I also tried downloading and installing BB USB and Modem drivers from the BB downloads, but that didnīt change anithing.I think this is the source of my problem, because most documents in the knowledge database says I have to see the BB USB driver on de Device Manager.How can I force Windows to use BB USB driver?
My PC sees my Blackberry plugged in, but the Device Manager tells me to Connect, and I can't sync my contacts, etc.

I have a Blackberry 9700 phone which has been working fine up until today when I decided to load the "Blackberry User Tools" software onto my P.C. at home. After successful installation and machine restart, I was asked to enter my "Device Password". Assuming this would be my password I set originally to lock my phone I entered it and found this didn't work. I subsequently attempted a number of other logical permutations but then realised that if I continued I would lock my phone. So I stopped (at 8/10 tries) and called my service provider "Orange UK" who advised they couldn't help me and that if I continued to enter the incorrect code, it would wipe my phone as it would automatically reset!When I connected via USB last time, it asked for me to enter the word "blackberry" which I did but when it then asked me to enter my password (which I assumed was the four digit numerical code I had originally set the phone with) it failed to work. I am now left with two further attempts. Please can anyone assist by advising me what I can do to overcome the problem without wiping my phone as the contents are very important to me.
