BB Bold :: Will Upgrading OS Of Device Using OS From Carrier Do Trick
May 18, 2010
I have a phone that is locked for AT&T carrier, and I want to unlock it to be used in an Indian carrier. Will upgrading the OS of device using OS from an Indian Carrier do the trick? Or I have to get unlocking codes from AT&T or some other media to unlock the phone?
I have tried to down load an app from bb appeared and this message appears on bold 9780 "The Item is not available for your Device Model, Device OS, Carrier and Country combination"
I have a strange problem since yesterday. Out of the blue my 9700 (5.0.0.442, free device, Vodafone Germany) can no longer connect to the Internet. The connection to the BIS, however, is still there. It lacks only the right service books. Vodafone said that I should do a software update -> so I installed 5.0.0.536. But the problem persists. The Vodafone-BlackBerry support is then determined that posting the service books hang in a "queue" and can not be delivered. They created a new BIS account for testing, even there the problem exists. My carrier says I have to replace the 9700. But I don't think, that this is a hardware problem. Sounds more like a software problem to me, because some service books still arrive:
Wi-Fi TCP / IP Browser Wi-Fi TCP / IP Transport Save Self VPL D2 WAP 2.0 Wap Push Config Vodafone DE MMS transport Provisioning
Akkupulls, resending service books, wiping and new firmware install brought no improvement. I just despair. Every data connection with no BIS requirement works. (e.g. weather apps)
I have a BlackBerry 9650 that's giving me the following error message when trying to update software or even delete/remove software using BlackBerry Desktop Manager. The exact error message appearing in Desktop Manager is:
"The device does not have enough space for your selections. Select fewer applications."
I am using BlackBerry Desktop Manager v5.0.1. My phone actually has Application Memory Free Space 301.5 MB. My BlackBerry's version is 5.0.0.732. I cannot update or delete software using BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
Device Memory Total Space: 859.2 MB Free Space: 858.8 MB
Media Card Total Space: 1.8 Free Space: 1.2
Any ideas on how to free up application memory? I have the usual google mobile suite, facebook, yelp, pandora, bolt applications. Can I move over some media card memory to application memory?
Firstly, I'm running BDM 6.0 on a Windows 7 laptop.I decided to upgrade my 9700 to the leaked .862 OS since I have been reading so many good things about it and am having an issue. This is the first upgrade I've done on this device which was running .602.Everything was working fine until just after the reboot, at which time I get the AT&T "World Phone" splash screen. It's been sitting there for about 45 minutes now and is not proceeding past this point. BDM still says "Connecting to device (this may take up to 30 minutes)".I am relatively new to the BB world and I thought the upgrade should be a snap.
I have searched this entire forum and can't find an answer. I have a Droid from my company and I LOVE IT! My wife has a BBerry. I want to get another line for a part time small business I have. I definitely want a BBerry and I realize I will have to pay a monthly data rate from someone for my email needs. Will not need many monthly voice minutes as my usage will be mainly data-email. Verizon is carrier for wifes BBerry.
I have an activated iphone and I want to know if I ever accidentally restore it to factory setting (pressing unlock/lock button + home button) can I restore it to my backup without the need of a carrier sim? The iphone is carrier lock in other country and I have no carrier sim.
I had a BB 8900 Curve which i replaced yesterday with a Bold 9000 and now cannot register the device on the carrier network. Calls etc are fine, just BIS will not. My previous 8900 worked fine? I have been on the phone with the carrier the entire day and they have not been able to resolve it. All i did was change the device in the BIS website and now it is broken.
Can the 8350i be used as a WiFi only device without carrier activation? I of course know that it would not receive any BB specific services but I would want to be able to browse the Internet and use apps that can use WiFi directly.
I have a rooted Galaxy S5 running stock 4.4.2 KitKat. I want to remove the carrier name from the lock screen (not the status bar). I downloaded Wanam Xposed and while several of the features in it worked, hide carrier was not one of them that did. How I can hide or remove the carrier name on the lock screen?
I have a Bold 9000 and after upgrading software to v5.0.0.822 (1385) my BIS start working. I do have BIS conection, however the service is turned off on the phone. How can I activate this? If try to acess to the web the web browser tries to connect to wi-fi and I cannot change the type of connection to BIS.
I recently upgraded my OS on my Curve 8520 to Version 5.00 Bundle 1168 and I find that the email app is no longer on the phone. I know my email account is OK as I can see the unread messages on the message icon at the top of the phone showing them arriving but I can not see the app to see them.
I recently upgraded my BB Desktop Manager to the latest version & now it shows as installed, as does the phone. But the icon is not available. I have tried to remove and re-add using Desktop Manager with no success. This appears to be a known issue: The problem is you are missing one module. If you look in Options / Advanced Options / Applications / BlackBerry Maps, you should see four: net_rim_bb_lbs net_rim_bb_lbs_api net_rim_bb_lbs_ribbon net_rim_bb_lbs_resource_en I am missing the ribbon module. Been unable to download from the BB Website. I cannot do a show all on the home screen as that option does not exist.
I'm trying to backup my mums nokia X6 but for 2 years I'm getting this error over and over again. My last successfull backup was made in 2K10, since than it's **bleep**ed up. I'm afraid to do phone restore, coz I have no backup, nor I'm afraid to do system update.
I am with Rogers and My contract was coming to an end. So 2 weeks ago I called them for a "price match" with TELUS or bell. and they agreed to it. Few hours after setting up my new plan, i noticed that my Wi-Fi symbol is not lit up however it does show the SSID at the top of my home screen as if I am connected to the Wi-Fi Network.I know My Wi-Fi was working before the contract upgrade. and i have tested with 3 different Wi-Fi networks that I was able to connect previously.
I am running 5.0.0.681. At the time of my Contract upgrade I was running .509 so I thought if I upgraded it might work but didn’t.Is it possible that Rogers blocked my Wi-Fi? Would a carrier have the ability to do this remotely?
I have a big issue.I purchased a BB 9930 from ebay that was confirmed to be unlocked. When I received it there was a SIM-Card (Sprint) inserted and it also had a Sprint logo on the phone... Anyway, I swapped the SIM-Card from my carrier in Switzerland (Europe) and everything looked OK as I was able to make phone calls, use the BB-App and so on. The problem is that I cant go online with browser and I cant use email services. I have sent "Host Routing Services" doesnt work.I have tried to Update Profile/PRL "The profile could not be updated. Please try again later. If problem persists, contact your wireless service provider" I have pulled batt. I have tried to register my BB over the website of my carrier with PIN code and Imei and it denies it because the phone isnt registered with the carrier... and so on tried about a 100 times! Of course I have the Blackberry service option with my carrier. My provider says that the former carrier has to give the BB free for them to register my phone... Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?
i'm in france, i own a 8900 and i'm going to change for a 9700. I renew my contract and get the cell with my points, the only problem is i'm with orange and the phone is like that with Orange on the bottom. they just ruined everything... when i look t-mobile in US it's so much better than this orange logo... Is there a way to remove it ? to hide it ?
I am having a blackberry bold 9700 carrier locked phone. It came with OS 5, now i want to upgrade the OS to V6. My question is will it allow me to upgrade the OS to V6?. I have seen OS6 from the same carrier on blackberry software download section which i prefer to use. If it allows, should i delete vendor.xml file?
is it possible to make Internet works on my Sprint 9930 to other GSM network (either gprs or BIS). the carrier i want to use it now said that the Sprint have to remove imei and pin form their database in order to use BIS in new (i repeat GSM network). i contacted Sprint with a valid imei and pin , and they replied "not a valid imei"
is it possible to make Internet works on my Sprint 9930 to other GSM network (either gprs or BIS).
For my 9700 the carrier (China Mobile) shows up as @QhtY(triagle)(three horizontal lines).Anyone have any ideas? The SIM cards of other carriers show up perfectly fine. Reboots and battery pulls don't do anything. I've ungraded multiple OS's as well and the problem still persists.
"Confirmed: there aren't any rim internal beta builds of os 6 for 9100 or 9700 yet. Thus carrier testing hasn't started. Just a heads up."Just posted on B Bleaks.I would have thought testing would have begun by now.
I have an unlocked T-Mobile 9700 that I'm using on Cincinnati Bell Wireless. At certain points I still see T-Mobile screens or software displays - when I first open up the browser, when the phone first reboots, etc.It happens quickly and doesn't really bother me, I was just curious if certain software stuff like that was permanently set into the phone's OS even though it is unlocked and working well on another carrier..(I upgraded to .593 yesterday.)
I've benn triyng to connect with my bold 9700 (ATT carrier) using the bb desktop manager but there's no "IP Modem" icon for it. I'm using version 5.0.1.28 Nov 11 2009.
I consider myself an advanced technical user. Got a bit of an issue here which even my Carrier is stumped - they're currently suggesting replacing my handset which may resolve the issue but seems a bit extremem to me.Basically, the device was functioning fine up until yesterday when I received a Service Update which I duly carried out (read, delete text, reboot). After that, internet browsing ability ceased. Email however continues albeit much much slower. If I connect on wifi however, I am able to browse although images in aps like Facebook won't load - very strange.I spoke a couple of times with Tech. Support and we've tried resending Service Books, re-registering the Host Routing Table and full reboots. None of that worked.
My hunch is and given the inconsistent nature of of the issue is that the problem lies in the Service Books or HRT somewhere.
I migrated to a different carrier. I setup a new blackberry email address on it. When I used BB Desktop Manager restore to bring my data onto the 9700, it brought my old email address along with it. The new carrier has no clue on how to erase it. I have to be careful now to make sure I am choosing new carrier when sending out emails otherwise they won't send. How do I delete the old carrier email address? From the handset or from Desktop Manager?
