I have searched this entire forum and can't find an answer. I have a Droid from my company and I LOVE IT! My wife has a BBerry. I want to get another line for a part time small business I have. I definitely want a BBerry and I realize I will have to pay a monthly data rate from someone for my email needs. Will not need many monthly voice minutes as my usage will be mainly data-email. Verizon is carrier for wifes BBerry.
View 15 RepliesI have the 8520, and have no data plan with my carrier in my post payment plan, i thought , since i have wi-fi at home, office and tons of hot spots. I can use my BB to access the web using free wi-fi as i have been doing with my last 4 smartphones.Big mistake. i have been charged 55 us last month, for data transfer use , i ran to my plan´s assistance office ( telcel in Mexico ), and the answer i got was. you have to get a data plan from us to be able to use wi-fi ( obviuosly i stared at her , just nodding my head ).There is no point in having a device that has acces to wi fi networks , if i cant access the wi fi network without you data plan, so i got the lady to bring the tech guy. His response was...naaahhh...it will access the wi fi. but we´ll charge u anyway. you need to disable the network from the phone and only leave the wi fi option on so you can access without any other charge, but this will leave you with no phone connection.
Is this real? did i just spend 399us in a gadget that has wi fi capabilities but will not be able to get on any wi fi connection form home or work, without being charged for data transmission over my cell providers network?cmon this sounds as stupid as it does in my head ? i would be really disapointed if i just left my old Nokia E71 SPhone, for this beautiful BB Curve 8520 THAT DOES NOT CONNECT TO THE WI Fi.
I have tried to down load an app from bb appeared and this message appears on bold 9780 "The Item is not available for your Device Model, Device OS, Carrier and Country combination"

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had a BB 8900 Curve which i replaced yesterday with a Bold 9000 and now cannot register the device on the carrier network. Calls etc are fine, just BIS will not. My previous 8900 worked fine? I have been on the phone with the carrier the entire day and they have not been able to resolve it. All i did was change the device in the BIS website and now it is broken.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a strange problem since yesterday. Out of the blue my 9700 (5.0.0.442, free device, Vodafone Germany) can no longer connect to the Internet. The connection to the BIS, however, is still there. It lacks only the right service books. Vodafone said that I should do a software update -> so I installed 5.0.0.536. But the problem persists. The Vodafone-BlackBerry support is then determined that posting the service books hang in a "queue" and can not be delivered. They created a new BIS account for testing, even there the problem exists.My carrier says I have to replace the 9700. But I don't think, that this is a hardware problem.

I have a rooted Galaxy S5 running stock 4.4.2 KitKat. I want to remove the carrier name from the lock screen (not the status bar). I downloaded Wanam Xposed and while several of the features in it worked, hide carrier was not one of them that did. How I can hide or remove the carrier name on the lock screen?

I called my service provider (Digicel Jamaica) then told me to re-register the HRT which i did before many times and a number of battery pulls and nothing happen so i deiced to post this in the forums and see if i could get any help with these issues

Seems that this is the only fitness related profile that is missing from the MOTOACTV. I would love to be able to use this device primarily with the Concept2 Indoor Rowing machine (as well as some Spin bikes at the gym). The Concept2 monitor software supports the FE profile and it would be nice to be able to pair the MOTOACTV to track the many meters that I'll be rowing this winter indoors. In addition... just a future thought... the accelerometer would open up the possibility of using this device as a stroke coach for on-water rowing (i.e. stroke cadence)! Nothing wearable exists like this on the market for us rowers...we have to log our workouts manually and don't have a means to retain detailed metrics such as power graph over time etc.

If I re-register my old BB with my original carrier's BIS I think (from what I've read) that will release my PIN for use with my new carrier's BIS, but does anyone know if the PIN is locked to the carrier or the BIS? And will I also have to get the PIN released from my carrier?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a LG LX600, that is from the Bell AND the Sasktel Carrier system in Canada. I have an MTS evolve contract with a browser package that I want to use. I have played around with this for two days, and have found out some things about this phone. Hopefully others are trying the same and we can put our heads together.First, getting this Bell Phone on the MTS system is easy with CDMA Tools 2.7. Simple interface for detecting and changing the ESN and the SCM code. Bitpim also has a file that appears to, when viewed, show the SCM code (other CDMA phone is all that works with bitpim, as explained in the sticky at the top of this forum)##SCMCODE# and you are in the setup menu, where you can set the phone number. Also, you can pick the carrier...Bell or Sasktel.
However, there is a file called phone.cfg, that appears to set the username. It shows my phone number with the carrier browser account. So (AreaCodePhone#)@services.1x.stm.sk.ca if you have chosen the Sasktel version of the phone (like I did only so that I didn't have to see the Bell logo come up) and the same number and a Bell 1x Url if you picked the Bell.I went in and hexedit this phone.cfg to say (PhoneNu)@1x.mts.net and tried to write the file to the phone with bitpim. However, whenever the phone restarts, it appears to re-write this setting back to (AreaCodePhone#)@services.1x.stm.sk.ca. So the phone seems to overwrite this phone.cfg file every time it starts, and puts it back to the carrier. You can also use ##3282# to go in an edit this (seems to work best after I have overwritten the file with the hexedited file)...you sometimes get an edit choice and other times only a view. However, you have to hit done to write it, and then the phone restarts, and it is back to the sk.ca account.
I have seen other posts where you have to unlock the paramtable1 file for editing. I am wondering if I can LOCK this file so it doesn't get edited by changing a value. (There is no paramtable1 file on this phone)I would really like to get the browser working on a different network. I really like this phone. If anyone has any thoughts, links, ideas or anything else that might assist, or wants to work together on this, I would be happy to try things.
