I am having a blackberry bold 9700 carrier locked phone. It came with OS 5, now i want to upgrade the OS to V6. My question is will it allow me to upgrade the OS to V6?. I have seen OS6 from the same carrier on blackberry software download section which i prefer to use. If it allows, should i delete vendor.xml file?

i've got a bb bold 9700 with OS5.if i want to upgrade it in the futer(to os6), how can i do so? the links in this forum let me select my carrier.but my bold is not branded and no carrier software is running on it. which one should i select, or is there another link to get it?

I renew my contract and get the cell with my points, the only problem is i'm with orange and the phone is like that with Orange on the bottom. they just ruined everything... when i look t-mobile in US it's so much better than this orange logo... Is there a way to remove it ? to hide it ?
View 14 Replies View RelatedFor my 9700 the carrier (China Mobile) shows up as @QhtY(triagle)(three horizontal lines).Anyone have any ideas? The SIM cards of other carriers show up perfectly fine. Reboots and battery pulls don't do anything. I've ungraded multiple OS's as well and the problem still persists.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have an unlocked T-Mobile 9700 that I'm using on Cincinnati Bell Wireless.At certain points I still see T-Mobile screens or software displays - when I first open up the browser, when the phone first reboots, etc.It happens quickly and doesn't really bother me, I was just curious if certain software stuff like that was permanently set into the phone's OS even though it is unlocked and working well on another carrier..(I upgraded to .593 yesterday.)

When I used BB Desktop Manager restore to bring my data onto the 9700, it brought my old email address along with it. The new carrier has no clue on how to erase it. I have to be careful now to make sure I am choosing new carrier when sending out emails otherwise they won't send. How do I delete the old carrier email address? From the handset or from Desktop Manager?

I have a strange problem since yesterday. Out of the blue my 9700 (5.0.0.442, free device, Vodafone Germany) can no longer connect to the Internet. The connection to the BIS, however, is still there. It lacks only the right service books. Vodafone said that I should do a software update -> so I installed 5.0.0.536. But the problem persists. The Vodafone-BlackBerry support is then determined that posting the service books hang in a "queue" and can not be delivered. They created a new BIS account for testing, even there the problem exists.My carrier says I have to replace the 9700. But I don't think, that this is a hardware problem.
Sounds more like a software problem to me, because some service books still arrive:

Akkupulls, resending service books, wiping and new firmware install brought no improvement. I just despair.
Every data connection with no BIS requirement works. (e.g. weather apps)
I transferred contact data from my wife's BB9000 to my new BB9700 using BB desktop software 5.0. As a result in my new 9700 bold I got transferred old email account from original BB9000. I could Hide buy I could not delete it and every time I try to send email my BB9700 giving me option to use both new and old email address

View 6 Replies View RelatedI went to check the settings in my brand new Telus 9700 and noticed that it has 'Disabled' by 'Network'.... Correct me if I am wrong, but shouldn't this say 'Active' if it's SIM Locked?? AT least I vaguely remember that on my Tour.
Anyway this struck me as odd, so I tried to bring up the MEP2 prompt for entering the unlock code, and it wouldn't come up at all....
Everything else is also 'Disabled' except for 'Service Provider' which is 'Active'Is this phone locked or unlocked?? If it's still SIM Locked, why can't I bring up the menu to enter the code with MEP2, and why does it say 'Network' is 'Disabled'?
I am attempting to help a friend and also satisfy my curiosity. She has a Samsung "Rant" through carrier Sprint. She said that after her phone was turned off for non-payment, she can no longer use the phone. She claims she has been remotely locked out, as if you set a security lock code and forgot it, that kind of locked out. She swears the company locked her out to keep her from getting at her contacts. Is this even possible? I googled and the only thing I can find is blacklisting lock outs using the ESN, which I already realize. But to actually lock the hardware remotely, is another thing. I know they can remotely unlock. What is her best option to recover those important numbers, and do all carriers actively do this sort of thing (if it's even true?)

I've had this phone for around three months, three or four times it has happened, i will be in the middle of a call and i will hear nothing, i look at the phone and its locked up, then solid red light, then phone reboots. Phone works fine for three or four weeks. i never had this problem with my curve 8320. I think its a app that might be auto updating on its own but wanted to see if anyone else is having same problem.

Twitter, Facebook, and the Browser do not work, saying that I am unconnected to wifi, when I do have a connection. To solve this problem, I have been turning off the phone, and then pulling out the battery.
