Mar 30, 2010Just noticed my screen goes black when i lock the phone. Is there a setting to change this? Sorry im still new to BB.Btw, i just upgraded to the new OS .545

Mar 7, 2010Does anyone know how to change the default setting for the locked screen? Right now when I press key lock, my wallpaper shows for a few seconds, but then it switches to the big clock. How to I get it to stay on my wallpaper and not show the clock? I just upgraded from My curve 8300 to the Bold 9700 and the only thing I hate about it is the big clock that shows up when I lock the screen.

Jan 13, 2010As I was talking on my relatively new Bold 9700 it just completely died! The battery was charged but the screen and everything just went black. It will not power on. I have removed the battery and put it back in and the only response to that it the red LED light coming on for a few minutes then coming off.

Aug 26, 2010i have been using a Bold 9700 for the past 1.5 years, and it has not given me much trouble so far. Recently, I have having a few problems with the screen. All of a sudden, a small black patch appeared on the bottom left side of the screen.It seemed the pixels stopped working at that portion, leadig to a blackout. However, after a couple of days the screen was working fine again. It worked properly for a good 1-1.5 months. Now, the black spot re-appeared but this time on the top left side of the screen.

Jul 28, 2012had my phone for a while and it usually did the white screen thing where I used to have to take out the battery and insert again, but recently it was working fine then all of a sudden the screen went dim. Even on the highest brightness the screen can go it was still dim, sometimes it would brighten up again but it eventually got dimmer and then did the white screen thing and turned off. Now whenever I turn it on (re-insert the battery etc) I get a fixed red light, then a few seconds later this goes and the keyboard lights up. Then nothing.I've searched for any resolutions but so far found none, I've even tried leaving the battery out for a while and then putting it back in and updating the software but this hasn't been usefull

Jun 20, 2010screen was flickering but continued to work until saturday morning when the screen went black but the buttons were still lit. from saturday morning to sunday mid-dayits been either in the sun drying out, on the window ledge. turned on this evening (sunday) and worked fine for around 6hours, but the screens just gone black for the second time in an hour! everything else is working fine, even the buttons and trackpad! can anyone advise on what to do next? unfortunately my phone isnt insured!

Jan 20, 2010So I bought my AT&T Bold 9700 last month when it first came out, and have had no troubles with it so far. I've tried searching for a thread like this but haven't found any.My 9700 just randomly "rebooted" this morning, where the screen goes black and the red led light turns on for a couple of seconds. This has happened to me before on my old 9000, where after it would then start up again. Nearing the time when I replaced it, it would do it quite frequently (and to think it just started getting really bad AFTER the 1 year warranty on it expired!). So back to the 9700, the progress bar that comes up when you're starting up the device would then come up, and sometimes load for about half an inch, sometimes only up to an eighth, before the whole thing would start again - the screen would turn black, the red led turns on, and the progress bar would come up again.I pulling the battery out for a few minutes and putting it back in but its still doing it. I then pulled it out for about an hour and its still doing it again.

Jan 25, 2010I'm a new bb user, which has patiently waited 3weeks to get my new 9700.- which arrived today BUT, when I turn it on the progress line goes all the way to the right, and then nothing else happens. It's just a black screen with the bb logo on it. Tried to downgrade the OP, but still the same thing happens.
Called the web-shop I bought it from, and they say I have to return it, and wait for them to have a look at it..usually 2-4 weeks.Is there anything I can do?

I'm sure I changed it to this at some point from something else however I don't know how or where etc. My friend's Blackberry (same Bold 9700) has a lock screen that shows a padlock to say it's locked but I don't get this? Any ideas? This lock screen displays her background image and a little padlock in the bottom corner etc.

BB Bold 9700 :: How To Tell If 9700 Is SIM Locked Or Unlcoked?
Feb 22, 2010I went to check the settings in my brand new Telus 9700 and noticed that it has 'Disabled' by 'Network'.... Correct me if I am wrong, but shouldn't this say 'Active' if it's SIM Locked?? AT least I vaguely remember that on my Tour.
Anyway this struck me as odd, so I tried to bring up the MEP2 prompt for entering the unlock code, and it wouldn't come up at all....
Everything else is also 'Disabled' except for 'Service Provider' which is 'Active'Is this phone locked or unlocked?? If it's still SIM Locked, why can't I bring up the menu to enter the code with MEP2, and why does it say 'Network' is 'Disabled'?

Apr 7, 2010Im trying to figure out if i should just return this phone, this is my second bold, "auto focus problem was other problem". I've had this phone for around three months, three or four times it has happened, i will be in the middle of a call and i will hear nothing, i look at the phone and its locked up, then solid red light, then phone reboots. Phone works fine for three or four weeks. i never had this problem with my curve 8320. I think its a app that might be auto updating on its own but wanted to see if anyone else is having same problem.

Jun 3, 2011My BB has been working fine. It's set to ask for a password if its been untouched for 10 mins and I've never had a problem with that. I do sometimes lock the keyboard by pushing the button top left, but again that's never been a problem. Right now the screen is blank. If I push the ball or any keys, nothing happens. If I plug in a charger the clock comes up, but still nothing works. If I remove the charger I then briefly see the screen and if I'm lucky pushing the ball brings up the "device is locked" screen with options saying unlock, emergency or cancel - but it stubbornly refuses to respond to pressing anything else, goes dim and then goes blank again. The battery has lots of power (it wasn't flat but has been charging anyway) and I've tried removing both the battery and sim card several times - all without success.

Feb 15, 2012I have had my Bold 9900 for less than 3 months and in the last week I have experienced the following issue: The screen stays lit up constantly, which is making the battery run out very quickly. When I press the lock button the screen turns off for about 5 seconds, then lights up again, and stays lit. I can't see anything in the Options menu that will fix it. As I say, the problem has only been occurring in the last week.

Aug 21, 2010My Bold is stuck on the boot screen (at about 75%). I've tried many battery pulls with and without the SIM and it keeps doing the same thing. I've searched what I think are all the threads on here relating to this, but I'm still stuck. I'm able to connect to the device if I run Loader.exe like a user suggested, but I don't know how/where to get software to load onto the device. All the places I've searched for an OS says I need to go into the device to find information about it. Well, I can't get into the device to do that. So, how do I know what OS to download and install? I really want to exhaust all possibilities before I have to completely wipe the device because I don't have a current backup. But, even if I wipe the device, I'm going to need to download an OS which I can't do now.
