First off I have a Iphone 3gs that got water damage.Everything works now except the LCD screen. When the phone is on all i see is a blank white screen(no apple logo while turning it on), but i can slide to unlock the phone, play music, and hear the phone lock when the sleep button is pressed. I have replaced the LCD but am not sure that the new one was faulty or not. Also i placed the motherboard in 91% alcohol through out the night for any corrosion that i could not see. I am not sure if I should replace the LCD again or if it is connector 1 corroded or what.
my Bold got thrown into a bath by my nephew and after having put it in a bowl of rice for a day and a half, I'm sure it's past the point where I could just continue using it, so I've decided to send it off to get recycled. The problem is, I really don't want to send it off without wiping the memory first! After the rice, I connected it to my laptop and switched it on and it worked well enough for me to think it was completely ok, but since then, the phone won't start, with only the red light going on and off, and a low-battery sign appearing on the screen every so often.
I dropped my bold in the ocean today, it was washed around by the waves a bit lol. My sim and mem card are working fine in a bb pearl. The bold is drying out in a tub of rice. I desperately need to access the emails on my bold that I had sent and received and we're in my inbox. I was hoping they would appear when setting up my pearl but only new emails have arrived. Can anyone help me? The documents I need are to and from my lawyer and as much as I know how stupid I am not to have them backed up, I have a lot riding on their content.
It had been raining for a couple of day, and my back yard began to start flooding. Like any good pet owner I went out back to check on my dog and to also make sure he wasn't in harms way. I had placed my phone in the pocket of my rain coat, thinking it would protect my phone from the rain. I failed to realize the pockets repel the water, but also retain the water. Needless to say my phone, which was inside of an otterbox at the time, was soaked.
I pulled my phone out and immediately disassembled it. I then placed my phone in a bowl of rice for 3 days. I tried to power my phone up on the third day, and the screen won't work. The red light comes on for about three seconds, and then the hour glass appears. Instead of proceeding to the "rebooting" screen, the screen goes blank.
I got rugby tackled into a lake with my BB in my pocket a few weeks ago and the phone got wet. i took the battery out straight away and then dried the phone in a bowl of rice for a few days. when i put the battery back in the phone worked fine for about a week and then the screen started to stop working sporadically before packing up altogether. the little water damage indicator on the phone has turned red but the one on the battery hasn't. even then the red LED still came on when i put the battery in and the 4 little call, menu, back, and hang up lights came on too. about two weeks later i had the device charged in my bag when i went into an old wifi spot i used and i heard the phone recieving emails, bbms and facebook notifications so it all still worked. i was fiddling around with it the other day and i could see thep phone was trying to load up when i plugged it in although the screen was very dim as if the backlight wasnt working. after a long time (maybe and hour or so) i looked at it again and could make out that there were a list of specifications and numbers on the screen in tiny print and a small icon in the centre of the screen that said "reset" on it. i tried to click this but the touch screen wasnt working so it didnt work. i was wondering if anyone knew if theres any way of fixing the phone?
I have a water damaged iPhone that I've arranged to return to Apple for replacement at a cost of £126.44. I want to back-up what I can before I do this, but the phone literally only lasts about 60-90 seconds each time I switch it on. I have had a look at iTunes, in the edit->preferences->devices section, and it is showing the following [url] That seems to show a back-up on 9 March 2012, which is fairly recent and I'd be happy with using that to transfer to the refurbished iPhone from Apple. Can someone confirm:-
1. What that back-up actually "backs-up" - i.e. does it back-up everything (contacts/SMS/MMS/Pictures/Videos/Notes/Apps, etc)?
2. If I tried to do a further back-up, will this wipe the back-up from the 9th March 2012, or will I still have the 9th March back-up available to choose to use as a restore when I get the refurbished phone?
My phone was dropped in a bucket of water and i am currently having to send it back to get a replacement, the problem is and as bad luck would have it, i came back from a holiday with my kids the day before it happened and now i have lost all my photos of them from through the week, i am more gutted about that than anything
He rinsed it immediately in fresh water and we now have it in a bag of rice. Is there a way he can retrieve the pictures off of it? We don't think he had synced with iCloud.
As soon as Iphone had water contact, turned off immediately and backed on after 3-4 hours. Turned on in the evening on the same day. Everything works like camera, sound, wifi, imessage etc., except does not connect to ATT network. Took it to att store and tried changing the sim. No use. Took to apple store, explained had water damage, so they tried to restore. The whole installation takes place. Then the initial set up screen starts showing to choose country, language, connect to wifi. After that it tries to activate phone then displays message saying that phone is damaged and cannot be activated. I just want the phone to be same as when I took to the store so that at least I can use it as ipod.
The software seems like it is not allowing me to use the other features of the phone and only does if I am able to connect to the network. I had been to att store as well and told that I am not changing my plan or breaking the contract but we buy a new phone and continue with att. Since as a owner of the iphone I should be able use the other features though it is not able to connect to cell phone provider network. How to bypass the activation step and takes me beyond that point so that at least I can use it as ipod. Looks like apple software is restricting the use of the other features of the iphone if not used for making calls.
My blackberry 9630 was water damaged pretty bad. I went home and put the phone in rice for a day, it still didn't turn on. I then left it in my car (in the heat) for a few hours and it turned on and was working. The only issue was, the keyboard wasn't functioning properly. It would type several letters on screen when I typed any single key.I opened it up and put isopropyl alcohol on it, upon closing the phone it was not working at all. When I plug it in, the red light turns on. (and stays on for quite some time) however the phone never turns on.
I dropped my Iphone in the sink for about 2 seconds, then took it out and dried it off. It all worked fine but a few minutes later the screen went black. I put it in rice for about 2 and a half days, and the sound and touch works (I can even unlock it and answer the phone), but I see not a thing on the screen. It's plain black. I still have it in the rice, but is there anything i can do to save it?
I get a blackberry Bold 9700 from the telephone company Videotron .- the problem occured after 2 months used : the screen of the blackberry Bold 9700 begin black ( a quarter of the screen from below became black ) .- So I cannot read message text as I receive or I send , from below of the screen , because it is black .- The telephone company ( Videotron ) did not want to repare or change it.- I am in guaranty .- I would like ,for the compassion of a customer ,to receive a positive answer from you , to have my blackberry repared or changed.
i can not use my phone as i can not read the screen, it is just black. what can i do? have tried removing the battery and replacing it but to no avail.
So I'm having a few problems with my iPhone. About 30 hours ago, I dropped my phone into a full sink. It was immersed for probably one or two seconds. I made the mistake of trying to turn it on right away, and it started spazzing - i.e. the startup apple icon screen would come on repeatedly and for a while the screen was flickering.
I looked online and followed people's advice of turning it off, letting the battery die, and leaving it in a cool place to dry. Since this morning the phone has been in a bag of rice drying off. I tried plugging it in tonight (impatiently) and to my delight the phone revived itself after charging for about half an hour. I synced it with my iTunes and sent one or two texts with no problems. But almost immediately my signal went down to no bars and I lost 3G connection.
Since then, it was displaying "Searching..." at the top of the screen, and got bursts of connection enough to receive two texts. Literally I would turn my phone on and all the bars would be there, along with 3G, then within a few seconds no bars again. For the last while it's just said "No Service."
I tried resetting the network settings to no avail, took the sim card out and cleaned it lightly with an eraser, nothing. When I go to "Carrier" under settings, it "searches" for, then finds (after a few minutes), my wireless network, but as soon as I leave the page my connection disappears again.
My question is- does anyone know if water damage can cause this particular kind of problem? Even though my phone is working perfectly otherwise (besides a somewhat mottled, water-spotted screen), is it possible that something within the phone was damaged that will not allow me to get a connection? Or could it be the sim card that is damaged?
I have an Iphone 4 purchased in september 2011 so just 6 months old, It now has water damage, what options do I now have, what services can apple offer me to rectify the situation?
Just noticed my screen goes black when i lock the phone. Is there a setting to change this? Sorry im still new to BB.Btw, i just upgraded to the new OS .545
As I was talking on my relatively new Bold 9700 it just completely died! The battery was charged but the screen and everything just went black. It will not power on. I have removed the battery and put it back in and the only response to that it the red LED light coming on for a few minutes then coming off.
i have been using a Bold 9700 for the past 1.5 years, and it has not given me much trouble so far. Recently, I have having a few problems with the screen. All of a sudden, a small black patch appeared on the bottom left side of the screen. It seemed the pixels stopped working at that portion, leadig to a blackout. However, after a couple of days the screen was working fine again. It worked properly for a good 1-1.5 months. Now, the black spot re-appeared but this time on the top left side of the screen.
I was using my BB Bold 9700, just texting then all of a sudden my screen started to mess up. I tried a battery pull, then all of a sudden all i get is a black and white screen (white lines on the right side of my screen)
had my phone for a while and it usually did the white screen thing where I used to have to take out the battery and insert again, but recently it was working fine then all of a sudden the screen went dim. Even on the highest brightness the screen can go it was still dim, sometimes it would brighten up again but it eventually got dimmer and then did the white screen thing and turned off. Now whenever I turn it on (re-insert the battery etc) I get a fixed red light, then a few seconds later this goes and the keyboard lights up. Then nothing.I've searched for any resolutions but so far found none, I've even tried leaving the battery out for a while and then putting it back in and updating the software but this hasn't been usefull
I have been traveling for 8 weeks and have hundreds of photos and videos on my s5 internal memory. Unfortunately I went swimming with my phone. I plan on buying another s5. Is there any way of transferring the internal memory module to a new phone and hoping that it's not also water damaged? I really want the photos from my trip. I am confident repairing phones.
My iphone was water damaged. I dropped it down the toilet, and after 4 days it finally came on after getting taken apart and cleaned. Now my signal keeps coming and going and doesnt stay for long.Ive tried resetting the network settings.
So I bought my AT&T Bold 9700 last month when it first came out, and have had no troubles with it so far. I've tried searching for a thread like this but haven't found any.My 9700 just randomly "rebooted" this morning, where the screen goes black and the red led light turns on for a couple of seconds. This has happened to me before on my old 9000, where after it would then start up again. Nearing the time when I replaced it, it would do it quite frequently (and to think it just started getting really bad AFTER the 1 year warranty on it expired!). So back to the 9700, the progress bar that comes up when you're starting up the device would then come up, and sometimes load for about half an inch, sometimes only up to an eighth, before the whole thing would start again - the screen would turn black, the red led turns on, and the progress bar would come up again.I pulling the battery out for a few minutes and putting it back in but its still doing it. I then pulled it out for about an hour and its still doing it again.
