I'm using Bold 9790 and I tried to update my OS from 7.0 to 7.1. Before that, I backed my phone up. I faced the smart card error thing but i got though that. Afterwards, I tried to update the OS and the DM prompted me to back my phone up again. And I complied. But then, as it was backing up, it got stuck. How should I get over this issue?

Tried running the new software update and all seemed to go fine at first, but now the 'overall backup progress' bar has been dead at 9% for a while and the 'social feeds' above has been stuck on 0% for the same amount of time. Ive tried rebooting but whenever i do this, the update starts up again and gets to the same point before stopping again.

And it has been a disaster since I received the update thru the Update Software Section on my phone but since then is has only gotten to 3% of the backup. I have restarted the phone several times, and pulled the battery several times and well and left the phone for hours hoping it would get itself together, to only occasionally fine (app error code:603) and yes at this present moment it is still stuck at 3% back up, this is 3rd day.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC One M9 (AT&T) which is stock and unrooted. Apparently a failed 5.1 update while traveling abroad has caused my phone to get stuck in recovery mode. Rebooting the phone or powering down simply brings the phone back to recovery. I am hoping there might be a way to update a stock ROM or force an OTA update without losing any of the internal data on the phone. Alternatively I was hoping I could pull the photos from the phone before wiping or returning the phone.
My only options on this screen are to: reboot system now; apply update from ADB; wipe data/factory reset; wipe cache partition; reboot to bootloader; power down; view recovery logs; apply from phone storage; apply from sd card
I have tried all options multiple times, but I have not tried a factory reset because all of my pictures from my trip are still on the internal memory of the phone.
Unfortunately I never enabled USB debugging before the device failure, so I believe my options with ADB and “pulling” the files are limited. Nonetheless, my phone won’t communicate effectively with my PC or laptop while in recovery mode, my PC and laptop only recognize that an Android device is connected while in bootloader or download mode.
I have been told by HTC that my only option is to download and update the ROM that is available on their website to the phone, but this will erase all data on my phone.
Is there any other possible option for me that can kick my phone out of recovery mode, or extract the photos from the internal storage? Is there a different ROM or OTA update I can use that will retain my data once installed?
I was updating the phone to 5.1(i think) from 4.4(kitkat). Half way through, it says ERROR: Update Failed.
I plug it in the computer and attempt to fastboot/recovery mode/ SUS but it doesnt register under the software. (No device detected)

I have shut off the phone for 2hours before attempting to SUS it, using the "Power + Volume UP" key.

Having installed the update I then went into back up and restore to restore my phone settings but it hasn't worked properly. Only about 20% of my phone book is showing and it says the SIM card is not available, none of my Apps returned and a theme I paid 1.99 for hasn't loaded properly as it's only got the wallpaper and none of the modified icons.My full contact list is still on the SIM card as I checked it in my previous phone that my Dad now has so why isn't it appearing on my phone? It's extremely inconvenient not having access to it as I don't have a back up anywhere else and most of the missing numbers are the ones I use regularly.

The phone is stuck in recovery mode, and all attempts to restore the phone have resulted in failure. I keep getting the same error message. Basically, the phone never gets past "preparing to restore." I am linking my iPhone 4 to a PC Windows XP Professional, with up-to-date software. I tried to update my iPhone 6 to the latest iOS 8.1.2 via lightning cable, but it failed for some reason because of an unknown error (17).
Now my iPhone won't update, restore or reset to factory settings... it is stuck in restore mode with the iTunes logo and cable showing on the screen.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI don't know why, but I decided to try update my phone software using my mobile phone - will never do that again. The update is currently backing up my data, however it has been stuck on the "Social Feeds" back up - it is very annoying and nothing is happening.
How do I stop this update?? Is there anyway I can cancel this update and continue it through my PC. It is only supposed to take 2 hours to update, it has been stuck on the "social feeds" backup for 1 hour already.
When I installed my BB Desktop Manager and first plugged in my Bold 9700, it asked if I would like to update various features on my phone, to which I accepted. The update froze- I can't remember quite at which stage but I recall it was at the end stages and the stage at which it froze started with JVM. After waiting an hour or so, I disconnected my Blackberry, not knowing what to do. The screen remained black and the red light started blinking.I looked up fixes for the problem and they seemed simple- one used JL_Cmdr to do a full wipe- but I am using Windows 7 and it isn't compatible. I get a brief command prompt screen for a half second before it closes.
The second fix involved using the command prompt to get to the Loader in the AppLoader file- but I ran into another problem- when trying to open Loader.exe, I got a "The Application Loader requires the Blackberry Device Manager to be installed." Then looking up THAT fix, I downloaded a new OS and redownloaded the Desktop Manager, but am getting the same error.
I am trying to update the OS to a Blackberry Bold 9900, I downloaded the official OS version from the wepbage. and the Desktop manager starts to erase the applications but, then, it stays in the Reconnecting to JVM message.

The Device Software update started and the back up went fine. Software seemed to download ok but is now stuck during the install at 'Reconnecting to JVM'. It has been like this for hours. The screen of the 9790 shows the clock although a reminder message came up which I cancelled - now back to the clock. The text in the update window says that the device must not be disconnected during the update process as it might render it unusable.

However, it takes me back to the backup your data screen at 0%. Then an application permerssion notice comes up with Allow or Deny. So when I woke it up, "app error 200" occurred on my bb screen and I had to reset it and stop the update. Now it won't turn on. I tried the battery pull but nothing changed. I tried to exit out of it or do anything but it wouldn't let me so I removed the battery, but then when it rebooted it just went back to the 'backing up your data' screen, and is now stuck at 7%. All seems to work fine on the phone since the upgrade execpt the backup app. When backing up it will stop during the backup and say could not backup. I've tried a scheduled backup and in the notifiction bar it says that the backup failed. However, I encountered a problem which I have heard many others have had, when the update got stuck on 'social feeds' and would not move from 8%. I did a soft reset (alt + right shift +del) and a white screen came up, saying to press any key to revert back to the old software. I did this, but now whenever I turn phone on, either through battery pull or soft reset, I get a frozen home screen. I have attempted to start the device in safe mode, and when I do I get a 'recovering your settings' screen similar to the update progress screen, but this too is frozen.
