I've searched and searched for the answer to this and can't find a satisfactory answer, so here goes. I'm trying to set up a POP3 email account on BIS but it always defaults to IMAP. I've tried solutions such as leaving the password blank so that I can manually enter the settings, but it still defaults to IMAP. The POP3 settings are correct, and I've used them for Outlook, etc.
View 12 RepliesSo far I love it, however, one of the most important things for me is accessing my school e-mail, and porting it through the phone. My school uses the GMAIL platform, and I have all of the information that would be required, but I have absolutely no idea how to configure it to work on my phone. I've tried logging in via the computer (which gives me a prompt saying I need to use my phone), and I've tried logging in through the phone but I never get enough options to edit the ports and SMTP/mail addresses.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn places with not very good reception (1-3 bars) of T-Mobile EDGE, my phone seems to be defaulting to AT&T and thus I get SOS. But I know service exists, since I've tested other phones in the same location, even another 9700. For example, we were sitting side by side today, he was getting 3 bars of EDGE while mine was sitting on SOS. We switched spots and still same deal.It happens whether I choose Automatic or Manual carrier selection, or just 2G or 3G and 2G. Does it sound most like a software issue, hardware issue, or SIM card issue?

My "go to" button for internet browsing is there when it isn't on the Telus Web page. In the telus web page i can't get to google or facebook or anything. How do I get my "go to" button back in my browsing. I have both a Internet Browser and a Telus Web icon, but both go to the telus web page- still with no "go to" button in the menu.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased my Bold 9700 and as a single user am running on BIS. My purchase was based on the formidable reputation of Blackberry for easy and efficient email handling and I fully expected it to out-perform anything on the market in this respect. On setting up my IMAP accounts I was therefore shocked and very disappointed to find that sent item and read/unread email reconciliation is one-way only ie. from handset to mailbox.
On reading Blackberry support information and numerous Blackberry user forums I find that there is a substantial user base who share my feelings regarding this glaring and annoying omission of full two-way IMAP email reconciliation which is the norm on other smartphones including the iphone - presumably Blackberry's main competitor. As it is my 13 year-old son who uses an iphone is now laughing at the inability of my new Blackberry to perform simple email tasks!
One thing I notice with 5.0.0.743 I don't get the imap duplicate email messages anymore. Has anyone else notice this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using a TMobile Blackberry 9700 (OS 5.0.0.714) and have 6 email accounts attached, including 4 gmail accounts, one Yahoo! account, and another IMAP account through a private host. I use Apple's standard mail app (v4.5) in Leopard (OSX 10.6.8). A few months ago I finally figured out all of the IMAP tweaks between my private host and the gmail settings to get sync working correctly (finally!). In other words, if I delete a message on my phone, it's deleted from my laptop as well, and if I read a message on my laptop, it shows up as read on my phone. etc.
A few weeks ago, without making ANY changes to settings on my phone, computer, or mail accounts, all of these features stopped working. So a message deleted on my phone still shows up as a "new" message on my computer. Messages read or deleted on my laptop still show up as new/unread on my phone. I resent the service book. Even deleted the accounts from the phone and set them up again from scratch... same problem. I know that IMAP is still working correctly at the server level because if I delete a message on my iPad it is automatically deleted from the laptop and vice versa.
Messages deleted from the gmail website are automatically removed from my laptop. The problem only occurs with the Blackberry. The only reason I have stuck with Blackberry (instead of jumping to iPhone) is because of the superior messaging on Blackberry...and I do a ton of messaging. I am at a complete loss as to why the IMAP sync would just stop working without making any changes to my settings or device configuration. The sync also stopped working on my Yahoo! account and on my private ISP's email account.
According to my IT guy I need to get my phone to pull emails out either on port 995 for SSL POP3 or on port 993 for SSL IMAP. My phone errors out when I setup the account through the phone. Koodo does not allow setting it up through a browser. They say the server I have used my 8830 on for years is not compatible with my new 9360 and that it is a Blackberry problem!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to update the IMAP password on a 9700 Bold, a process I've done numerous times in the recent past. However, on this particular device, I cannot even get to the menu for email accounts. Every attempt results in the following ianane OS message; "Your device had a problem connecting to the server." I'm then required to either try again (a never ending loop) or cancel.
I suspect this has something to do with my provider (AT&T) because I had similar symptoms on another device (same model, w/o enterprise security policies). I was able to fix it on the other device by deleting the IMAP Service Books and then doing a hard reset. It doesn't work for the problem BB.
I have an imap email, I use it with outlook. I have configured my email acount in my bb 9700 and I find that my device doesn´t sync previous mails (from before the date I configured the account on the device)what can I do?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had Blackberries for several years on T-Mobile, and I was always able to set up my mail accounts as either IMAP or POP3. I've switched to Verizon and when I set up my email accounts, they default to IMAP. I own my own domain and both IMAP and POP3 are supported.
I tried deleting my email accounts and setting them up again with an incorrect password so I could enter my own settings. However, I'm not given the option to select POP or IMAP. I prefer POP so that if I delete a message on my handlheld it will also be deleted from the server.
I've recently got a BlackBerry Bold 9780, I am used to have smartphones with my company email all the time, changes I do in my desktop/server I want them in my smartphone and viceversa, we don't use M$ Outlook in the company, we have IMAP accounts.This is, maybe, the most basic feature of a smartphone but until now it seems that BlackBerry just has a 1-way email synchronization, changes that you do in your desktop/server do not reflect in your BlackBerry, if this is true the only thing I will miss wil be the BB messenger.

When I send an e-mail using gmail, from the browser client or outlook, it will automatically update the message in my sent messages folder in the device.However, this does not happen with IMAP. When I sent an IMAP email from a browser client or outlook, the e-mail never shows up in the sent messages folder on the blackberry. I can't get it to either.
This confuses and disorganizes me sometimes. Sometimes I send an e-mail through an IMAP account through outlook. Since it doesn't show up in my phone's sent folder, I sometimes send a very similar message though I already did. I have 8 e-mail accounts on my phone. One is gmail, the remaining 7 are IMAP.
I got a new BB 9700 Bold yesterday and having problems with setting up the sync for the calendar and the contacts which are on my outlook. My hotmail email accounts are working okay. The outlook is on my PC and is the front face for my hotmail accounts.
When I go in to the BB Desktop device manager - version 5.0.1 (latest version) , I go in to the configure option on the left and it lets me click on calendar> then I select outlook and it then lets me select 'finish'. However at this stage an error box flashes up saying 'no available message stores'.
In addition when I check the wifi config on the calendar and contacts icons on the BB device it will not let me select yes on the wireless connection for them.
I have a BB Bold 2 (9700). The Media Card slot wont lock down the card and keeps springing it out. If i keep the card pressed down it works but wont lock down.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Outlook 2007 on my desktop computer and use BT as a service provider and for my email, my Blackberry supplier is Vodafone and I use BIS.I have noticed that if my Blackberry receives an email first I don't get the same email delivered to my desktop. If my desktop gets an email first then the same email will be delivered to my Blackberry. I was happily deleting emails from my Blackberry thinking I would have them all on my desktop but I now find I have to check what emails I have on each before I delete anything. Is this an issue that anyone has come acrosss before and how do I resolve it apart from synching the Blackberry and desktop?I'm often away from the desktop which is why I bought the Blackberry in the first place.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having issues with some apps not remembering their settings. It's almost like the app has been reset.
The one with the problem most often is the stock camera app. When I go into it, it asks me repeatedly if I want to turn on geo tagging and whatever else it pops up even though I select to not ask again. The other day, Play did about the same thing. I had auto updates and update notifications turned off, and it randomly popped up that I had apps needing approval to update. I checked the settings and it reactivated the options to auto update (risking blowing out my data cap since I'm not always on Wi-Fi) and notifications.
When I open the phone app, I want it to display the keypad/dialer by default. This is how it worked on my S3. Is there a way to change this setting? If not, any recommendations for a replacement phone app?
It seems silly to me that this is not the default behavior already. If I initiate opening the phone app, vs answering a call, it is most likely because I want to phone someone. Instead, the app seems to open to whatever you were doing last (viewing the call log, favorites, contacts). I shouldn't have to press an additional key to get to the dialer. It's a PHONE app for goodness sakes!
I've owned my 9700 for nearly 2 months now and I'm still not used to the keyboard. I prefer my 8310's spaced out keys. has anybody replaced the 9700 keyboard with the Atlas keyboard?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my Blackberry and would be grateful if anyone knows what the problem is.I have only my Blackberry 9700 bold for 1 month or so.I am unable to lock my keypad by using the lock key on top of the phone. This has happened before but after charging my phone it started to work again. I have turned my phone on and off, tried charging it and the button still doesn't work. Although the keypad will lock when I put it into the leather case.Do you think it is a problem with my blackberry and I should return it? Or is this a problem people have had before and if so, how do I fix it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Bold is stuck on the boot screen (at about 75%). I've tried many battery pulls with and without the SIM and it keeps doing the same thing. I've searched what I think are all the threads on here relating to this, but I'm still stuck. I'm able to connect to the device if I run Loader.exe like a user suggested, but I don't know how/where to get software to load onto the device. All the places I've searched for an OS says I need to go into the device to find information about it. Well, I can't get into the device to do that. So, how do I know what OS to download and install? I really want to exhaust all possibilities before I have to completely wipe the device because I don't have a current backup. But, even if I wipe the device, I'm going to need to download an OS which I can't do now.
