BB Bold 9700 :: BIS POP3 Set Up Always Defaults To IMAP
Feb 8, 2010I've searched and searched for the answer to this and can't find a satisfactory answer, so here goes. I'm trying to set up a POP3 email account on BIS but it always defaults to IMAP. I've tried solutions such as leaving the password blank so that I can manually enter the settings, but it still defaults to IMAP. The POP3 settings are correct, and I've used them for Outlook, etc.

May 22, 2010Anyone know why? I was shocked when I found this. Gmail is almost instant delivery like BES but POP3 is delayed sometimes up to 10 minutes. I only found this becuase I was testing a new Droid device.

May 8, 2010Bought a Nokia E72 a fews ago, got the email set up no problem but in the last couple of days it was playing up and very slow I therefore removed the mailboxs on my phone to reinstall them.However when trying to add the mail box again I got an email from Nokia stating there records state that I have changed my phone and they have cancelled my Subscription.Anyone experienced this before and have any suggestions.

Jul 10, 2012does anyone know how to set up pop3 email on this phone yet? Surely someone at Nokia must know? crazy thing is, when I got the phone, I did get someone at orange to set it up for me & it worked fine for a while but now all i get is a message telling me "there is a communication error, try later"! needless to say "later" has never arrived even after 7 months!
Ive been told most newer phones have gone back to providing FULL & comprehensive sets of instructions so users can find out how to do stuff like this!

Mar 1, 2011I'm urgently need some help with the following:I am trying to set up a POP email account via the Blackberry internet service.I have entered all the information in correctly ie username mail server: mail.mydomain.co.uk...but i keep getting the same message:"cannot connect to email server or invalid server name".I know all the setting are correct because i have similar setups on iphone, other handhelds and outlook pop3 accounts and they all work without any problem.
I have even tried repling the mail server name with the actual IP address of the server.It only seems to reject the setting if i use BIS and my only thoughts are that there could be some sort of IP block.Anyone who has experienced similar problems or know who i could contact would be greatly appreciated. Orange and Blackberry dont seem easy to find someone who could give me a technical reason why they not able to resolve this mailserver.

Jul 23, 2010Installed Nokia Messaging 10,2,0,26 and did setup 2 accounts (Gmail & POP3).
- from the phone I have forced to restore settings from the server.
- phone starts syncing, and downloads correctly Gmail headers
- nothing happens, as for the POP3 account
So, I have deleted and re-created the POP3 account 3 times, still no email incoming.

May 26, 2010Bigtime newbie here, coming from a Treo running WM5.0. As of yesterday, I've got a 9630 to replace my Treo 700wx. (I'm on CDMA / Alltel.)I managed to get two POP3 accounts set up and automatically checking mail. It was pretty painless. (Can send email too, no problem so far.) I got the auto-msgs suggesting to "leave copy on server" but I don't want to do that if I don't have to. I want my home desktop clearing mail.
I'm not looking for pushed email, and I do NOT want all my email going to the Tour all the time. I only want access to it when I'm away from the house, and that's a couple days a week or so.
Is it possible to shut off the auto-pull feature through BIS? I thought I found it, but it was for automatically downloading images, no emails. (Yeah, I gotta read better.) Even if I could shut down the auto-pull, I can't see how to manually tell the Tour to pull my mail in when I request it. There's no "send and receive" or anything like that.So... How do I manually check my mail? Is it even possible with BIS? And can I stop it from manually pulling my mail?

So, whenever someone sends an email to my professional account, it shows up on my BB, great. However, when I hit reply on my BB, the from address shows up as my gmail address, not the professional address I want it to show. Is there a way to fix this?

May 9, 2010I just bought an unlocked storm2 free and clear - no contract (upgraded from Curve with no data plan). I have continuous wi-fi as my internet company provides me with unlimited wi-fi access wherever I go in the US so my plan is to access my e-mail thru wi-fi.
Is pop3 e-mail set up possible without BES, BIS or data plan? Is there a 3rd party e-mail apllication available for blackberry, much like for pc where you can configure a 3rd party software (i.e., ms outlook, ms express, etc.) for your e-mail.
Right now the only way I can check my e-mail is by logging into the internet via wi-fi and going to my internet provider's web site. That is a hassle though as I have to go thru several steps before I can actually check my e-mails.
