I just bought a Blackberry Bold 9700 Unlock from Amazon. I am having a few issue with it I am not able to setup pop3 and other emails and also my Appworld is not working as well. Is there a way to fix this problem? I have tired to install other OS but it does not seem to fix this problem.
View 4 RepliesI've searched and searched for the answer to this and can't find a satisfactory answer, so here goes. I'm trying to set up a POP3 email account on BIS but it always defaults to IMAP. I've tried solutions such as leaving the password blank so that I can manually enter the settings, but it still defaults to IMAP. The POP3 settings are correct, and I've used them for Outlook, etc.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI lock my bb my pressing the top left keypad lock button but when I press it again to unlock it it won't unlock!! The only way to unlock is to take the battery out and put it back in! It only started doin this yesterday.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI am working with a user who recently switched from a 9550 to a 9700 (verizon to at&t) for coverage reasons.Whenever he unlocks his keyboard (using the lock button on the top left of the device), he must enter his password to access his phone. The security timeout settings on his phone are set to 1 hour, but even if he locks the keyboard for 5 seconds, he still has to enter his password when unlocking it.The only time that the keyboard will lock and unlock without requiring a password is when it is entered/removed from the holster.We are using BES.I cannot replicate this issue with the 9650 or 9550. Unfortunately I don't have a 9700 at my disposal to play with.Is this a normal feature for the 9700?I've checked his encryption settings (disabled).We cannot disable the password function (mandated by BES policy).The issue is not that he has to enter his password, it's that he would prefer that a password not be needed unless the security timeout has expired.

View 11 Replies View Relatedjust switch from a 9000 to a 9700 and have been very happy.however the top lock/unlock key is a pain.I carry my phone in my pocket and while putting it in my pocket i always hit the unlock key, then i have an ulocked phone in pocket.Is there a way to turn off the top unlock key? while im at it i wouldnt mind turning off the standy fuction as well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI deleted and re-setup the email account twice and now I only receive automatic emails from servers like apple and outlook. The SMTP settings are great and I can send emails with no problem. I have tried resetting the phone(home and sleep/wake buttons) and I have completely deleted the email account on the phone and set it up again twice. The settings are correct. I am not receiving any error messages at all. The problem is the phone is not downloading any emails from the POP3 server. The Only emails I have received since I setup the account again has been from Apple to let me know my password was reset, and one from Outlook to let me know I had tested my settings on my laptop. I am able to send/receive emails on my laptop using the same pop3 server. I have changed the Fetch New Data settings to every available option and it has not made any difference. It connects to the server and says its updated but no emails show up.

I have a Curve which is on a consumer account (o2 UK). It is not a business account, not using exchange and not requiring any particular security.My BB will access an O2 e-mail account but not a particular account which I own.O2 tell me that the reason I cannot access it is that the e-mail account is set up in such a way that BB has treated it as a business account, and is applying Exchange security to its access. O2 believe that this account is registering with BES.s a consumer O2 believe my access should be through BIS. They are unable to tell me what setting at my e-mail host would cause the Blackberry servers to pick it up wrongly. They tell me the problem is outside my control. My e-mail hosts don't understand the problem either. If I could tell them what to change, they would try to do it.
So my questions are:- 1) Does anyone know if there is a setting at my hosts that would change things so that my e-mail address is treated like any other POP3 or alternatively 2) is there something that I can do in the Blackberry world that will move / recategorise my e-mail service correctly.
I'm currently unable to unlock my BB 9700. I get the password prompt but upon entering the password it just goes back to the locked screen with the padlock.Using Alt + Back button I can scroll through a number of open apps but can not open or close them it, then freezes and displays a white screen until I pull the battery.
Numerous battery pulls later and still no joy.The only change on my device yesterday was a number of failed attempts to download Docs to Go ver 2.0 from the App World yesterday. My BB does a scheduled battery pull each night at 2am and the phone has been like that since the last scheduled pull (forget the name of the app).
Edit to highlight - I know the password is working as it re-prompts if I type it in incorrectly on purpose and after 2 attempts asks me to type in Blackberry.
First one to guess a number between 1 and 10, I won it in a contest and have no use for it.

1.) Is there an easier way to unlock the phone other than pressing the lock key at the top? I can conveniently lock it by pressing the * key, but is there an alternative for unlocking it? (I can't set it as a convenience key for some reason, it's not showing up as one of the options.)
2.) How do I set my alarms to vibrate only? I've selected and adjusted the "Vibrate Only" profile and made everything silent. But my alarms are still making sounds!
I've had my phone for a couple of months now and it's been fine. The last software update caused the phone screen to go dark every time I turned on the keyboard lock, which is ok. But now often, but not always I can't get the phone to unlock again. I can activate the screen by pressing the Blackberry menu button but it just tells me the phone is locked. Pressing the keyboard lock/unlock button does nothing. I have to either disconnect the battery or connect the phone to a power supply to unlock it. Seems a bit strange to me.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIf like me you cant unlock your Bold after the latest update - what they haven't told us that you can now lock and unlock the bold by pressing the top left of the phone, this toggles the button lock on and off - no idea how you lock the phone with your own numbers now, so I cant see how this is an improvement at all, seems like asecurity flaw to me! Nice if they told us what the upgrades would do!

I just got my Blackberry Bold 9780 last night and the 'lock/unlock' button on the top left doesn't work at all. It feels somewhat sticky - the mute key on the right side makes a clicky sound when pressed down whereas the lock button just presses in without making any contact. I understand that you can set a password but that is rather inconvenient as you have to wait 1 minute for it to lock and every time I want to use the phone I have to type in a code. I can lock the phone by holding down A/* but then there is no way of unlocking it again. the phone came with the holster because that seems to unlock it for me - but this is obviously less than ideal.What can I do? Is there a shortcut to unlocking like on the Curve 8520 (a/* and the call button)?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've had the BB 9700 for all of 2 weeks, but I've only been using it for about 4 days, because I didn't have time to transfer over my data from my old Curve 8320.One of the only reasons I stayed w/ a Blackberry vs another type of phone was UMA on T-Mobile. I need UMA in my office or I don't get reception. I had limited problems with the UMA on my 8320 but mostly it would work.
I could not get UMA to work *at all* yesterday. And today the wifi connection itself was being flaky. I couldn't get it to connect properly. I made sure it was on wifi perferred (it's been that way all along). I fooled w/ the settings for the actual wifi connection. I turned on and then off again the "allow inter-access point handover". Our SSID is not broadcast so I don't think that box should be checked.
I did a battery pull and restarted the phone and the wifi *and* UMA came on for the first time. This was short-lived though because as soon as it switched over to the mobile network, I couldn't get it to connect to the wifi network at all (even if I turned off mobile), and the UMA of course disappeared again.Any additional suggestions would be most appreciated. Yesterday the wifi wasn't acting funny (I don't think anyway) but I still couldn't connect over UMA.I'm open to other firmware versions (mine is stock .330) if it fixes the UMA issue.
