I have a Curve which is on a consumer account (o2 UK). It is not a business account, not using exchange and not requiring any particular security. My BB will access an O2 e-mail account but not a particular account which I own.O2 tell me that the reason I cannot access it is that the e-mail account is set up in such a way that BB has treated it as a business account, and is applying Exchange security to its access. O2 believe that this account is registering with BES.s a consumer O2 believe my access should be through BIS. They are unable to tell me what setting at my e-mail host would cause the Blackberry servers to pick it up wrongly. They tell me the problem is outside my control. My e-mail hosts don't understand the problem either. If I could tell them what to change, they would try to do it.
So my questions are:- 1) Does anyone know if there is a setting at my hosts that would change things so that my e-mail address is treated like any other POP3 or alternatively 2) is there something that I can do in the Blackberry world that will move / recategorise my e-mail service correctly.
My business email is POP3 not enterprise, I already did the setup for my personal email in Hotmail server and it works properly but every time I am trying to setup my business mail it replies after while with the message your email need to be validated, I keep enter the password but it is still not working.I enabled POP UP from options but the problem still exist..
I just bought an unlocked storm2 free and clear - no contract (upgraded from Curve with no data plan). I have continuous wi-fi as my internet company provides me with unlimited wi-fi access wherever I go in the US so my plan is to access my e-mail thru wi-fi.
Is pop3 e-mail set up possible without BES, BIS or data plan? Is there a 3rd party e-mail apllication available for blackberry, much like for pc where you can configure a 3rd party software (i.e., ms outlook, ms express, etc.) for your e-mail.
Right now the only way I can check my e-mail is by logging into the internet via wi-fi and going to my internet provider's web site. That is a hassle though as I have to go thru several steps before I can actually check my e-mails.
I use Outlook for business email and my SG2 for it while away. On return I find that the mail has been deleted from the server so is not available for Outlook. I have found no setting on the SG2 for stopping this whereas it is available on my partners HCT.
Just acquired a new blackberry 9300. Trying to set up e-mail, followed the Blackberry demo screens but I'm not getting the options demo'd. My phone isn't letting me choose between an Internet e-mail Account and an Enterprise )work related) account, so all I'm getting is an Enterprise set up, asking for an activation code. No idea how to get round this. Any ideas how i can get access to the internet mail set up.
So i am having problems with setting up my email on my curve. i go through the ropes in the setup wizard, but it never seems to save my passwords or actually finish setup. also, i don't seem to have internet access without wifi, i've tried doing all that registration through setup and host routing table, but still nothing.
I just bought a Blackberry Bold 9700 Unlock from Amazon. I am having a few issue with it I am not able to setup pop3 and other emails and also my Appworld is not working as well. Is there a way to fix this problem? I have tired to install other OS but it does not seem to fix this problem.
I deleted and re-setup the email account twice and now I only receive automatic emails from servers like apple and outlook. The SMTP settings are great and I can send emails with no problem. I have tried resetting the phone(home and sleep/wake buttons) and I have completely deleted the email account on the phone and set it up again twice. The settings are correct. I am not receiving any error messages at all. The problem is the phone is not downloading any emails from the POP3 server. The Only emails I have received since I setup the account again has been from Apple to let me know my password was reset, and one from Outlook to let me know I had tested my settings on my laptop. I am able to send/receive emails on my laptop using the same pop3 server. I have changed the Fetch New Data settings to every available option and it has not made any difference. It connects to the server and says its updated but no emails show up.
I recently went on vacation and had my phone turned off for a week. When I returned, I found that the email on my BB is no longer synched with the computer. If I check a message on the BB and mark it as read, then it is okay on the computer. But, if I open a message on the computer, it is still listed as unread on the BB. How can I fix this?
I recently got a blackberry curve 8520 contracted with virgin media, with my package I get free BBM/ email services free. However both services haven't worked in 4 weeks. I cannot connect to any servers and error code (65), whatever it means, pops up every time I try to log into Windows Live Messenger. I have re-sent registration messages, as instructed by the troubleshooting manual, which have been successful each time.
I have two professional accounts forwarded to one gmail account through pop3. I have that gmail account on my 8330. So, whenever someone sends an email to my professional account, it shows up on my BB, great. However, when I hit reply on my BB, the from address shows up as my gmail address, not the professional address I want it to show. Is there a way to fix this?
I've just had my blackberry curve 8320 unlocked to any network, and now I have a 3 sim card in it but the network on the main screen still says orange, and I can't access the internet.
E-mail reconciliation is not working for me with my Gmail account. When I read an e-mail on my BB, it isn't being marked as read in my Gmail. It also isn't working the other way: when I read an e-mail on my computer, my BB doesn't mark it as read.
How can I fix this? E-mail reconciliation in my options is already turned on.
I just updated my phone, and found a new app on my homepage. Its called visual voice mail, and when I bring it up, it makes me download a "Self Serve". When I downloaded it, it was supposed to download it to my memory card, but I cannot find it, and this app wont work. Anybody know how to get it up and running?
I just got a Nokia E72 and I can't access my mail. I can send emails through the emails I have set up, but I can't do anything else (including seeing my emails) All settings are matched to what they should be. In addition my GPS does not work. I've downloaded the newest Ovi Maps and everything. Google Maps works like a charm though, so I'm not sure what is up with the phone. Everything is being done through wifi, don't have my data plan set up yet. One thing I notice is that my phone always asks like "use/access wlan in offline mode." Does this mean anything?
I am new to Blackberry having just got my Curve from Virgin Media. I have set myself up an e mail account via the blackberry with a @virginmedia.blackberry.com address. Now I want to be able to access that e mail from my home MAC & my work PC but where do I get the information I need to configure Outlook & Mac mail (outgoing /incoming servers etc.) I have spent a fruitless hour talking to Virgin & sifting through the Blackberry web site. It must be obvious but not to me at the mo?
When I dial voicemail by hitting #1 it begins to dial and then automatically a 3second pause kicks in...how do I get rid of that.I can't access my voice mail...because of it
More and more our phones are becoming communal devices, we lend them to friends, family, co-workers to make calls, play games, share information and numerous other activities. He works in an business area where information security is at a premium. As such he doesn't store any secure information on his phone. Â
I totally understand and respect his decision, however there's an Achilles heel to his methodology. Like most business oriented people the main flow of company information comes in the form of email. Not getting that instant access on your phone can be a detriment. Currently when he has down time he'll open up a browser on his phone and log into his webmail. It works, but it's just not as effective as having the email on the iPhone and having the alerts. My question being, is there a way he can lock down his mail? Is there an app that would require an additional password to open Mail? Or is there an option so that the Mail can only be opened with a fingerprint?
For accessing my e-mail I would like to use my wireless LAN connection at first and only if there is no WLAN connection available I would like to use the packet-Data (GPRS, 3G) connection.I can define a "Destination" which contains both WLAN and GPRS connections with priorities.I can not, however, select this "Destination" in my mail settings. Only a direct connection (exactly one WLAN or GPRS/3G connection) is available. What am I doing wrong? How could I set prioritized access groups for e-mail? *)What exactly is the use of "Destinations"?
I recieved a Blackberry message stating I needed to enter my email password on the account which I have been using. I have followed the instruction by entering setup and clicking Email Accounts. On that screen it allows to me two options Internet Mail Account & Enterprise Account. However when I try and click the Internet Mail account nothing happens, it does not let me use this option. I have tried the Enterprise Account and it says "Status: initialzing service" but nothing is happening. (been like this for 30mins)
I am having problems accessing my Yahoo mail when i am on the yahoo page via wifi , it tells me that my password is invalid. I have just bought the phone so not sure if i need to syncronise anything with Google?
I'm trying to setup a new exchange email account on an iPhone 4. This is normally pretty straight forward, however, on this particular phone I can't get into the Mail, Contacts, Calendars settings. When I go into Settings and click on it, the screen flicks up into the settings for a second and then boots me out of settings and back to the main display
I have tried restarting the phone to no avail and checked to make sure it has the latest software update. Is there anything else I can try before I resort to resetting back to default settings?
i don't understand why it is not possible to restrict access to messages and mail, this feature is important in different cases like:
you give you child a phone and don't want to text all day with their friends, also if your kid is less than 13 years you could block this feature so that he can't chat with strangers.
also this feature is important because if you enable this feature you could have 2 different passwords for accesing messages or mail, this is important when your friends or family knows your main password but they don't know they password for restricted apps.
why would some one wants to block Internet, camera, safari, and other apps but you can't block messages or mail?
