Apr 26, 2012Downloading emails from my pop3 account takes a very-and I mean very - long time. I've tried re-entering all the account details and it queries my password so I have even changed that but it's still extremely slow. Plus I can't send emails (I can from the .me account).

May 6, 2012I deleted and re-setup the email account twice and now I only receive automatic emails from servers like apple and outlook. The SMTP settings are great and I can send emails with no problem. I have tried resetting the phone(home and sleep/wake buttons) and I have completely deleted the email account on the phone and set it up again twice. The settings are correct. I am not receiving any error messages at all. The problem is the phone is not downloading any emails from the POP3 server. The Only emails I have received since I setup the account again has been from Apple to let me know my password was reset, and one from Outlook to let me know I had tested my settings on my laptop. I am able to send/receive emails on my laptop using the same pop3 server. I have changed the Fetch New Data settings to every available option and it has not made any difference. It connects to the server and says its updated but no emails show up.

Jul 10, 2012does anyone know how to set up pop3 email on this phone yet? Surely someone at Nokia must know? crazy thing is, when I got the phone, I did get someone at orange to set it up for me & it worked fine for a while but now all i get is a message telling me "there is a communication error, try later"! needless to say "later" has never arrived even after 7 months!
Ive been told most newer phones have gone back to providing FULL & comprehensive sets of instructions so users can find out how to do stuff like this!

Mar 1, 2011I'm urgently need some help with the following:I am trying to set up a POP email account via the Blackberry internet service.I have entered all the information in correctly ie username mail server: mail.mydomain.co.uk...but i keep getting the same message:"cannot connect to email server or invalid server name".I know all the setting are correct because i have similar setups on iphone, other handhelds and outlook pop3 accounts and they all work without any problem.
I have even tried repling the mail server name with the actual IP address of the server.It only seems to reject the setting if i use BIS and my only thoughts are that there could be some sort of IP block.Anyone who has experienced similar problems or know who i could contact would be greatly appreciated. Orange and Blackberry dont seem easy to find someone who could give me a technical reason why they not able to resolve this mailserver.

- from the phone I have forced to restore settings from the server.
- phone starts syncing, and downloads correctly Gmail headers
- nothing happens, as for the POP3 account
So, I have deleted and re-created the POP3 account 3 times, still no email incoming.

May 26, 2010Bigtime newbie here, coming from a Treo running WM5.0. As of yesterday, I've got a 9630 to replace my Treo 700wx. (I'm on CDMA / Alltel.)I managed to get two POP3 accounts set up and automatically checking mail. It was pretty painless. (Can send email too, no problem so far.) I got the auto-msgs suggesting to "leave copy on server" but I don't want to do that if I don't have to. I want my home desktop clearing mail.
I'm not looking for pushed email, and I do NOT want all my email going to the Tour all the time. I only want access to it when I'm away from the house, and that's a couple days a week or so.
Is it possible to shut off the auto-pull feature through BIS? I thought I found it, but it was for automatically downloading images, no emails. (Yeah, I gotta read better.) Even if I could shut down the auto-pull, I can't see how to manually tell the Tour to pull my mail in when I request it. There's no "send and receive" or anything like that.So... How do I manually check my mail? Is it even possible with BIS? And can I stop it from manually pulling my mail?

I've tried solutions such as leaving the password blank so that I can manually enter the settings, but it still defaults to IMAP. The POP3 settings are correct, and I've used them for Outlook, etc.

May 9, 2010I just bought an unlocked storm2 free and clear - no contract (upgraded from Curve with no data plan). I have continuous wi-fi as my internet company provides me with unlimited wi-fi access wherever I go in the US so my plan is to access my e-mail thru wi-fi.
Is pop3 e-mail set up possible without BES, BIS or data plan? Is there a 3rd party e-mail apllication available for blackberry, much like for pc where you can configure a 3rd party software (i.e., ms outlook, ms express, etc.) for your e-mail.
Right now the only way I can check my e-mail is by logging into the internet via wi-fi and going to my internet provider's web site. That is a hassle though as I have to go thru several steps before I can actually check my e-mails.

Mar 7, 2011I am the web admin for a few domains. I have a client who recently switched to a Curve 9300 from Nokia... I have spent weeks now talking to various Vodacom SA representatives, trying to add her pop3 email account under the BIS server.
I have tried by logging into her BIS accout, and the Vodacom support centres have tried the same. It always returns saying "Contact your system administrator, incorrect username or password.Despite this the username and pwd IS correct, as she can access her mail from OUTLOOK, or Outlook Express, or via webmail, also if i add her details on my HTC Snap I can login and retrieve her mobile mail with no problem,
On her previous handset with the company, a Nokia, she also has no problem accessing mail, so it is confined to the BlackBerry RIM service.i have a suspicipon that her domain name cgm.co.za is "blacklisted" on the RIM service... but offcourse Vodacom keeps pointing the finger and saying that the hosting company (hostica.com) is not working... if none of the settings worked on ANY other email device or phone i would agree with them, but this is a Blackberry ONLY problem

Nov 2, 2015I've had comcast POP3 email set up and working on K9 email since the phone came out. It has suddenly stopped working on my LG G4. My other 6 email accounts are still working perfectly on K9 (yahoo, att, iCloud and mindspring).
I can still download email normally on my Mac using MacMail. I can still download email on my Droid2 using the default email app (don't ask - I keep it to troubleshoot and play games).
I have installed and tested the default LG mail app, MyMail and they don't work. There have been comments on other email apps that they are not working.
Xfinity Connect works from my LG G4, but functions as a IMAP connection, and deletes email from the server when deleted on the phone, which is obviously NOT what I need.

Jan 30, 2012I have a Curve which is on a consumer account (o2 UK). It is not a business account, not using exchange and not requiring any particular security.My BB will access an O2 e-mail account but not a particular account which I own.O2 tell me that the reason I cannot access it is that the e-mail account is set up in such a way that BB has treated it as a business account, and is applying Exchange security to its access. O2 believe that this account is registering with BES.s a consumer O2 believe my access should be through BIS. They are unable to tell me what setting at my e-mail host would cause the Blackberry servers to pick it up wrongly. They tell me the problem is outside my control. My e-mail hosts don't understand the problem either. If I could tell them what to change, they would try to do it.
So my questions are:- 1) Does anyone know if there is a setting at my hosts that would change things so that my e-mail address is treated like any other POP3 or alternatively 2) is there something that I can do in the Blackberry world that will move / recategorise my e-mail service correctly.
BB Software :: Regular POP3 Email Will Not Setup
Mar 3, 2012My small business has recently moved to a new dedicated server and after working fine at first, I am now unable to set up any of our mailboxes on any BlackBerry device (tried Torch, Bold, Curve) on any carrier (Rogers, Bell in Canada and T-Mobile, AT&T in US). I try the basic setup (email address and password) and then when that fails, the advanced settings (which are necessary as my email username is non-standard; it is always username+example.com when the address is username@example.com and the mail server is mail.example.com). After a long "Processing..." I am told "Invalid email address and password. ... If the error persists, contact "my server" The thing is, all of these mailboxes works fine in any other email client with the same settings (Outlook, Thunderbird, iPad, etc) and as I said, worked fine a couple of times on BlackBerry before now not working at all. In a basic sense I am the administrator of my server, though I have been on with my hosting provider's support and they are baffled as well. This problem is not happening on any of their other similar hosted servers, just mine. whether there is some process, some address, something at RIM that must be permitted to communicate with my mail server tha could potentially be blocked somehow. My default mail server is Dovecot (including the BlackBerry "Fastmail" service, which worked fabulously before this started)

Nov 21, 2011I have just changed from a BlackBerry to the htc Desire S & am having all sorts of problems trying to persuade it to deal with my pop3 emails. I've religiously followed the instructions & the Incoming settings are accepted but when I put in the Outgoing details it always comes up with "Your outgoing server does not support authentication. Please verify your outgoing server settings". I am not a computer/phone expert but managed to set up my BlackBerry without any problem. In this case, after several failures I copied the settings as in my Outlook Internet email settings. No luck.I contacted the technical dept of Zen (the ISP) they were very knowledgeable & helpful but, after 90 minutes effort finally gave up.
All instructions on the htc site just repeat the user manual instructions which, in this case, does not work. I've emailed htc but have received no reply. I contacted the service provider - Vodafone. They advised that it is difficult to operate pop3 emails with the standard mobile phone Server port at 25 & suggested that I if I wish to use my business email address (rather that getting a new gmail one) then I would be best advised to return the phone & get a new BlackBerry. I find it hard to believe that it is not possible to receive & send normal emails on a modern smartphone & am hoping that someone may be able to guide my through an installation/troubleshooting process that will work.
