Feb 8, 2010I've searched and searched for the answer to this and can't find a satisfactory answer, so here goes. I'm trying to set up a POP3 email account on BIS but it always defaults to IMAP. I've tried solutions such as leaving the password blank so that I can manually enter the settings, but it still defaults to IMAP. The POP3 settings are correct, and I've used them for Outlook, etc.

I've tried logging in via the computer (which gives me a prompt saying I need to use my phone), and I've tried logging in through the phone but I never get enough options to edit the ports and SMTP/mail addresses.

Apr 7, 2014I've got my company (exchange) email set to sync every 15 minutes. It only does so occasionally. Last night it didn't sync for 6 hours, this morning it was 51 minutes. It didn't always work when I had it set on "as items arrive" either. My Live and Gmail accounts seem to work just fine on the 15 minute setting.

Aug 31, 2010From time to time, I experience that my Xperia X10 does not automatically sync e-mail accounts (using the supplied/standard e-mail application). I've set up a number of e-mail acocunts (6) with different update rates ranging from 15 to 60 minutes. I can go in to one of the accounts, whereby it syncs and I can see that I have received a number of new e-mails (for a period more than 6-12 hours, without receiving any type of notification.
This is really annoying since I miss important emails. What can be done to ensure that they sync automatically and that I receive notifications?

Messages - catchall for everything
Desktop email icon
2nd/personal email icon
However, I switched back to the Curve (8530) because of the keyboard, and now I don't have a primary desktop email icon. The only way to view work email is to use the messages icon where everything else goes as well. Is there any way to create or separate the two email accounts so I can view the work email separately?

Oct 30, 2011since Friday28th of October, in the morning I am experiencing a rather unpleasant issue: my Nokia E6 dos not connect to my company's email IMAP email accounts. I take the opportunity to report other 3 issuesI have 2 emails accounts @mycompany.com that were regularly being used. I did not update the firmware nor performed any changes on the phone, all of a sudden the E6 does not connect with the email accounts, there is no error message.I tried the following:1) Re-entered the password of the email account, I confirm this is right2) Created one of the email accounts that were on the E6 on 2 other devices (Ipad and Palm Pre), they work perfect, both on Wifi, on my operator,(Orange) and on an other phone operator (Swisscom)3) deleted one email account, from the E6. I restarted the phone (by holding the button 8 seconds) and recreated the email account, this is not possible, I get the following error message:" service temporarily unavailable. Try again later. "4) I repeated the test (point3) both on WiFi and using the 3G operator. I got the same errorOn the E6 there is also a Gmail account, which works flawlessly.Using the email is not an option for my business, so I wish that THIS TIME I will get an effective reply from NOKIA. ( NOKIA don't tell me again that I have to use OVI account or my mailprovider does not work, because as explained I tested the settings on other devices.

Dec 27, 2014as the title says, i have this issue where i cannot manually sync email, HOWEVWE everything works normal as it should. Push mail, contact sync,everything else is not a problem. The prob is basically manual sync, and on top of the email app, it says that the last time it was updated was 2 months ago (this is when it first started, i installed cyan using nokia recovery tool)
I have turned off message backup, tried to find verification email, no solution.

Jun 15, 2011I created email accounts that use POP3 to receiv and SMTP to send and find I can receive mail but my sent emails get an authentication error. I originally thought they were not being sent at all but then I decided to let them remain in the out folder. After 6 hours they were finally sent. Some take 1 1/2 hours. So it seems that to send email out with a SMTP (roadrunner account) it can take from 1 1/2 hours to 6 hours. The gmail accounts work just fine, but I don't use gmail except for people I am not sure of and do not want their emails in my roadrunner account. Yes, I have my POP3 and SMTP set up correctly. If I didn't I wouldn't be able to send or receive at all. I have removed them and put them back, turned my phone off and let it rest and turned it back on many times.
I have talked to Motorola and the person I talked to yesterday has referred the problem to a tech person further up the ladder. I have read about other problems of this kind on sites on the web when I googled a question about it, but I am not always trusting of the unknown sites. This is a Motorola help site so I am hoping the information here will be more accurate and trustworthy.
FYI, I just read something from a site that said to use gmail as the outgoing smtp. Well, I switched the smtp for one of the roadrunner accounts to use .gmail.com as the smtp. It seems to have the same problem.

After doing a manual sync by pressing the refresh icon, I would get emails pushed to my phone fine. However, after some time emails stop getting pushed to my phone. The period of time when push seems to be working varies around a few hours. When it stops working I have to do a manual sync again in order to get push to work for another few hours.

When I send an e-mail using gmail, from the browser client or outlook, it will automatically update the message in my sent messages folder in the device.However, this does not happen with IMAP. When I sent an IMAP email from a browser client or outlook, the e-mail never shows up in the sent messages folder on the blackberry. I can't get it to either.
This confuses and disorganizes me sometimes. Sometimes I send an e-mail through an IMAP account through outlook. Since it doesn't show up in my phone's sent folder, I sometimes send a very similar message though I already did. I have 8 e-mail accounts on my phone. One is gmail, the remaining 7 are IMAP.

Dec 6, 2011I just got the s2, and i have 4 email accounts (2 work, 1 hotmail, 1 gmail). I have them configured and working, but they are all under the standard mail app (white envelop with blue @). When I get a new message, this icon will show how many unread messages there are. But, it shows for all of my accounts. I'm trying to have separate apps/icons for each email address that'll show some type of "unread messages" notification on the icon itself. Came from a blackberry and i had 4 individual accounts setup, each would have a red star if there was an unread msg in that account. I tried the hotmail and the gmail apps but they don't seem to show anything like this either.
