I have a problem with my Blackberry and would be grateful if anyone knows what the problem is.I have only my Blackberry 9700 bold for 1 month or so.I am unable to lock my keypad by using the lock key on top of the phone. This has happened before but after charging my phone it started to work again. I have turned my phone on and off, tried charging it and the button still doesn't work. Although the keypad will lock when I put it into the leather case.Do you think it is a problem with my blackberry and I should return it? Or is this a problem people have had before and if so, how do I fix it?
I have had Blackberry for over 4 years and got so used to the keypad icon to lock and unlock by pressing *send and now I downloaded newest upgrade os>743 and now that icon and feature is gone and its pissing me off, anyone know if or how I can get it back. (If it ain't broken, why think to fix it)
Is there an "auto" keypad lock in the bold 9700? by that a mean can you set it to auto lock the keypad after a certain time of no use like the nokia and other phones, The only way I have found to lock the keypad is with the button on the top left.
I found out how to lock the keypad on the 9700 after this new screwy update to the 9700.To lock keypad press and hold "A" for 1-2 seconds or push the "lock button" at top left edge of phone. To unlock the keypad go to the very top left corner ridge on the very top of the phone and press the "lock" button. Will take some getting used to but will prevent unwanted calls while holstered or in purse. The best way I found to lock keypad without a password.
I'm a dedicated BB users and have been using many models over the years, but this is the first annoying problem i encounters with the 9700.i bought 2 tMo 9700 last week for me and my wife. when i got home, i updated the os of my 9700 to .586
the problem started when the battery level reach 40%. whenever i'm in a call or the bb in keypad lock mode, it suddenly shut off itself. and then i can't turned it on unless i plugged in the charger. but after it turned on, i can unplugged the charger and the bb would be normal until the battery reach 0%.
i thought i was a battery problem with my 9700, so i tried using my wife battery, and it was still the same problem coming out. so then i thought it was an OS problem, so i upgrade it to .593, and it still gave me the same problem. then i tried downgrade it to .578, and it still the same.then my guess was it was a faulty 9700. but i tried the software upgrade to my wife's BB and then she had the same problem as i am.
what's wrong with our 9700's? can anyone help us? i have been looking all over the internet but found no solution.we have the same apps installed beside add ons: ubertwitter, opera mini, google sync, googlemaps, foyage, blackcorpo theme.
I have always assigned my left convience key to lock my screen. After updating to 545 I have lost the option to even choose the keypad lock opt. Does neone know where this went? I updated with the official not the beta. Also I notice volume adjustments while on a call is not precise when lowering or raising.
The only gripe I have about the 9700 is the top of the phone functioning as a lock keypad/unlock keypad button. It's very annoying anytime I push the phone down into my pocket and the keypad unlocks. Because of this I've almost deleted some contacts.
I lock my bb my pressing the top left keypad lock button but when I press it again to unlock it it won't unlock!! The only way to unlock is to take the battery out and put it back in! It only started doin this yesterday.
this is a shot in the dark, bacically my girlfriend threw my phone against the the wall the other day as they do, ever since then it randomly turns off and i have to take the battery out and put it back in and the battery would have gone down quite abit, the battery level goes up and down which is weird.
Bold 9700, OS .442, Telus Mobility. Email server is IMAP, leave emails on server indefinitely (eg. I still have emails from 2007), 90MB memory free. BIS is set up to forward messages that do not meet filters. This just started happening today, I'm not receiving random emails! It's been working fine for weeks! So starting today, I would be in a conversation with someone, and I won't get a reply. That person sends me another email asking if I got his last email... coming back home and checking (Apple Mail) I realize I'm missing some other emails today as well. Again, some emails reach my Blackberry, others don't! No rhyme or reason as to why this is happening.
my phone's screen randomly turns white or turns purple then white while using the screen and problem started like 2 days ago. And i can fix the problem by locking and unlocking the screen a few times and it goes back to normal but then like 5 minutes later it turns white again . Btw i tried reloading the os on my phone again it didnt fix the problem but i havent tried downgrading my os to os5 (now ive got os6). I dont know what happed is the something wrong with the software or with my lcd screen?
I am curious as to how when im indoors the 9700 switches randomly(it appears) between Edge and UMA.Why is this and it this normal??? What dictates its setting when i have set the 9700 to WiFi?? As a result of my self admitted lacking tech skills on the issue it all appears random but i suspect its not..Happy Thanksgiving..
I have BOLD 9700 smartphone and i signed up for new service with AT&T 3 weeks ago, after that i realized that one of the key on the keypad is not functioning, i went to the store and he gave told me he is giving new phone as i am still in the One month policy. But my guess is he hasn't given me new phone instead he gave me a phone which is already used.Any body has idea how to find if the phone is used before or brand new?
My bold 9700 stopped working for no reason! The keypad stoped working all of a sudden. I cannot type in my pin, the trackpad doesn't function, the unclock button on top doesn't work and after a few seconds the screen goes black and the only way to bring the light back on is to either connect it to my laptop via USB which will show the clock and once the USB is removed I get the home screen but cannot do anything there again; or i have to remove the battery and reboot but again I would get the black acreen and the cycle would continue.
My email, text messages, missed calls, facebook notifications and all come thru alright and the red light flashes to indicate this and I get the little sign on top of home screen but cannot access anything as the keypad and the trackpad are both completely non-responsive.
I called my mobile from a landline but again i cannot accept the call as pressing the green call button or any other key for that matter doesn't work. I could access the device via the BB desktop software and have backedup and updated the firmware (i was using the most uptodate version untile now without any problems) . The phone has not gotten wet and hasn't been in any damp environment. I haven't got any dodgy apps or security issues for instance as aresult of opening sapm etc.
Is there a way to disable the lock and mute buttons on the top of the BlackBerry Bold 9700? I just received my new windshield cradle that grips it from top and bottom, and the buttons are invariable pressed accidentally for a variety of reasons. Perhaps an application that can shut them off, or some type if setting?
I've got a brand-new 9700, carrier-branded, that sporadically will not ring or alert! Regardless of the profile or circumstances, about 15-25% of the time the device will perform as if it is on "silent" - The phone will light up, show an incoming call, but not ring or vibrate. The phone will flash the red L.E.D. after an email or SMS comes through, but not notify or vibrate. This is unreproducible. It can happen with the same number multiple times or not at all. No rhyme or reason behind it.
I've already done a complete reload of the OS via Mac Desktop Manager - Downloaded the OS from the carrier automatically. I'm using very few third-party applications, only Google Mobile App, Facebook, Ubertwitter and Viigo. Obviously, I've noticed the phone performing this way without those apps and completely wiped. The only constant has been a reload of my address book, which doesn't include customized alerts or rings.
Anybody know where I can get a replacement qwerty keypad for my 9700 with the red-numbers like the OEM and Rogers 9000 Bolds have? I loved it on my blacked out Bold...and really don't like the all white AT&T keypad. I've looked at Cnn.cn and TrueSupplier...and neither one of those sources have them.
I have a BB Bold 9700. My service provider is Telstra (Australia). And before you ask, no, a few battery pulls didn't fix my situation. My "4/S" button on my bold has turned super sensitive. if you breathe the wrong way - your text/screen will be filled will dozens of little "s" on the rampage. For example, if you type in the question "How are you today?" it will come up as, "ssshsow assrsse you tosssdssasssy?"As this is a hardware problem with my phone and as I am at the end of my contract, I am quite content to purchase a new phone.
However, due to the "s' button repeating like a bunny and my being half asleep when i checked my phone last night and accidently turning it OFF - I can not enter in my pin number nor my puk number into my phone. (the numbers come up as stars so I can't see which is the number I wish to enter over forty-seven thousand little 4s insinutating their way in.
Typing in the 4 numbers of my pin comes up as "********************"
Tying in the 8 numbers of my PUK comes up as "*******************************************************************"
The keyboard being broken is neither here nor there but I am explaing this to illustrate my dilemma.
(1) is it possible to somehow fiddle something so I can actually see the numbers instead of stars when I enter in my pin and puk code so I am able to delete the "4/s" when they occur and be able to open my phone and then do a backup or
(2) Is it possible to do a back up or unlock the phone using the computer while my phone is now asking for the PUK?
I am thinking about customizing my 9700 when I am able to afford it. Though if I do, I won't get a case gor it cause then you wouldn't be able to see it. At the very least, I would like some good screen protectors and a different colored LED keypad. Which supplier should I look at for these parts? I have read some bad stories about TrueSupplier so I am quite leary about them.
My 9700 recently started not letting me view my new text messages. For example, sometimes I get forwarded chain texts and it won't let me view them, it'll show a random block of text and that's it. And if I try to reply to it, it won't show me my reply, it's only doing this with a few contacts, but it's still extremely annoying.I've tried uninstalling my third party apps and it didn't fix it, is it a setting I have to change or does anyone know anything?
I tried to update the Documents-to-Go app this afternoon. The update failed and then my BB was stuck. Did a battery pull, which all looked okay, but it comes on with the keypad locked and I cannot unlock it! Top left button does not do anything, neither does [* call]. I can still use alt+back to cycle through apps but cannot access the home screen. Back button by itself then does not work. What do I do?
i have a bold 9700 locked to rogers.when its connected to the wall charger, the keypad stays lit and the screen shows the analog clock.how do i turn off both ? can someone please tell me where the setting is?
I read ebooks voraciously, it's very useful when in bed with the other half and he's trying to sleep, not to need a bedside light on.My problem occurs when using an ebook reader (currently Mobipocket - though please do enlighten me if you know of one better which will easily take books from the file offerings of the Gutenberg Project):
The keypad remains bright, much brighter than the screen (especially as I set the background to black and the text to mid-grey).I'd love to be able to toggle off the keypad backlight somehow.I've found a sort-of workaround, where I go to the Clock and set Bedside Mode, then switch application back to Mobipocket - the screen dims and the keyboard turns off...
BUT only until I use the optical pad to swipe to the next page, and the keypad lights come back on and blind me. They do fade out again but by this time I'm halfway down the new page and about to swipe again!Anyone? Keyboard backlight toggle? Is such a thing ever going to be possible or is this a well-flogged long-dead horse?
