Motorola Photon 4G :: Snap The Back Cover In Place?
Sep 18, 2011What is the best way to snap back cover in place? Whatever sequence I use it seems that one of the plastic latches doesn't engage.

View 3 RepliesI used to love my Photon. Lately it just seems to be working worse and worse. My latest frustration is this:I make / initiate a call from my phone. I get the phone screen. In the corner its says "connected". I can't hear anything at all on the phone (BT or otherwise). So I hang up. I place the call again. I get the phone screen for a few seconds, again hearing nothing only this time it spontaneously reboots.his happens I would say once a day, and I don't really make all that many calls. I'm also getting other random reboots, but I've not found a pattern for those. They just happen here and there. I can't remember the last time I made it through a day w/o my phone rebooting itself.
Then there's my battery drain issues. Today I lost 30% in about 1.5hrs and I wasn't even using it much. I went to the battery usage screen I see this:As you can see... less than stellar performance, and what the heck is "Media"? And why does it appear to be using my battery so much? I actually had a pretty light day on my phone to this point in the day and my battery is just evaporating.I tapped the graph and see that this thing is "Awake" almost constantly. I seem to remember a time, before the "Media" thing was showing up, when my phone was only "Awake" here and there.
So, I took this screen shot (below) a minute ago (after it spontaneously rebooted while I tried to call my wife). I tapped the "Media" item on the list and it shows a bunch of items. I frankly don't know what any of this means. I did some research on-line and there are endless threads about this "Media" problem, and much of it does not lead to a successful conclusion. I have to say, this Android phone thing is not impressing me so far. I've been a "techie" guy since the DOS days, but this just feels not-ready-for-primetime. I really don't want to have to reset my phone and re-load all my apps, and reset all my accounts, etc... Frankly I shouldn't have to. I'm just frustrated I guess. I don't know if I have a hardware phone issue, a hardware battery issue, a software issue, some crazy app causing problems
it there a trick to getting the back to snap on firmly I got the right middle wont latch and makes the phone "spongy"
I tried appling so pressure but dont want to break the phone
im 550 lbs so when i squeeze something it tends to break or can i order a new back and see?
The back cover of the Droid 4 can fool you -- it looks like a typical slide-down-with-pressure-to-remove cover. But there's a trick. There's a small pinhole on the black panel at the top rear, where the camera lens and flash are located, just to the right of "HD 1080P." That's the lock. If you insert a pin or other small object into that hole, it releases the back cover and it slides right off.
View 13 Replies View Relatedthe one thing that bugs the crap out of me is that the hard grey back cover doesnt line up flush with the softer top black peice where the speakers and camera are. it came out of the box this way. its only on the right side though (if im looking at the screen). it is perfectly fine on the side where the camera and power button are and fine in the center.i know to some this may seem trivial especially if you dont have this issue but i feel like i paid A LOT for this device and should have the quality build that was intended by motorola and was expected by me. the consumer.is this something that i could send in to moto to get adjusted? am i better off trying to "fix" it myself? am i alone in this issue?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe message/picture animation for checking the back seals keeps showing up on my phone, not sure why. Does it just do that every once and a while or is it actually trying to tell me something?
I do have the wireless charging back cover and am missing the charging port cover.
I'm not sure that i'm the only one with this issue, but I have a custom ringtone set for both my calls and my notifications. Now what happens is when i plug my phone into my pc and use it as a mass storage drive (at least I think its whats causing the problem) my ringtones automatically switch from my custom ones to the default ones. This gets to be really aggravating to have to change them both back everytime, especially since I have an additional silent ringtone for all the oter notification sounds that you cant turn off (facebook, e-mail, and plugging the device in to the PC) which may I add, is an issue within an issue but I can live with it. My files are in the internal memory, not on the SD card and in the default media/audio/notifications or ringtones.
View 9 Replies View RelatedOver the last week I've noticed sudden power loss on my Photon. It will go blank without warning. Plug it in and it will show 0%-10% battery power. Watch the screen and it will sometimes jump back up suddenly. From 10-20% to 100% before my eyes. I'm guessing it's a battery or phone issue. Don't see any other discussions about this. Planning on brining the phone in soon
View 5 Replies View RelatedWith my new Photon, I am having some issues where a call will come in and have very bad crackling audio. If I hang up and call them right back, it is crystal clear. It's happened to me three or four times in two days. Do you think it's a defective unit?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI shut my Photon down and plug it in and it turns back on. I plug it in and power it down and it turns back on. I power down, remove the battery for 15 seconds, reinstall the battery and plug it in and it turns back on. No new software or apps that I'm aware of. It just started doing this today and we've had it for six months.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI was on Verizon with a Droid 2 when you did the 2.3.3 test a couple of weeks ago. On 10/9/2011 I moved to Sprint and bought a Photon 4G. I just updated my HEX MEID in this forum profile. My phone did the initial reboot but came back with Update Failed.Update Motorola Software says. An Update is currently being downloaded. You will be notified when the download is complete. There is no indication anything is happening. It's been this way for close to an hour now.
View 15 Replies View RelatedSo I picked up 2 Photons yesterday from RadioShack. Overall, I am very impressed with the phone, however my wife's is randomly rebooting, and will not turn back on without disconnecting the battery or plugging back into the wall. I have seen a few reports of this online and was just wondering if there is a fix or if I should take it in for a trade? Kind of worried if mine will start doing this also. No SD card installed, no taskmanager, not rooted, etc
View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to do some testing with a UMTS femto cell. (reason behind my madness)Does anyone know if it is possible to flip the photon in a UMTS mode and then back to a normal state when done?
View 3 Replies View RelatedOccurred 3rd time in last 2 months(well spread incidents) - Photon just starts rebooting continously on its own (shuts down - loads back to the startup screens - connects to sprint - shuts down again..... loop continues non stop). During the restarts if it is un-noticed for a while the phone gets very hot. The only way to stop is to pull the battery out, after which it starts fine. Not sure what the issue is. Any thoughts? Would not prefer to do a factory reset as there is no observed pattern, all three incidents were when phone was not being used and was in the pocket. No extra apps are running generally whenever I check through the task manager - I cannot check while the phone is rebooting though.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I turn on my Samsung Galaxy S5 a message comes up telling me to check the rear cover is sealed properly before use. I've checked it & it seems well sealed but the message still appears.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwell iPhone 4 backs are extremely easy to take off, unlike previous iphones where you basically need to dissassemble the entire phone starting with the screen, and void warranty to get to the back, the iPhone 4 back comes off by just unscrewing the 2 bottom screws. also Its possible to replace the back cover without voiding warranty, or leaving any evidence it was ever replaced.
If iphone 4s had the capacity laser etched on the back, apple employees would just look at the back of the iPhone to see capacity to know what capacity iPhone they should replace it with (i have seen them do this). Even if they go into settings to check something else, there is still a chance they will not look or forget to look at the capacity in the about section. If the iPhone 4 had the capacity etched on the back cover, a person could have just replaced his 16GB iphone's back cover with a 32GB one bought off ebay or something, ask for a replacement for whatever reason, and there could have been a good chance the "genius" would just look at the back of the phone, see that it is a 32GB unit, and give a 32GB iPhone as a replacement.or they could have decided not to etch the capacity on the back for cosmetic reasons
The back cover does not stay, so the back of the phone is open all the time. I checked and saw the two small clips at the botom conners of the cover are broken. So where can I find a replacement of the cover?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just sold my 3G a couple days ago and picked up a cheap 3GS. I love it so far. The only thing is, is that the back cover is all sratched up and has like 30 dimples on it. So I want to replace it for a new cover but I don't know where I can get it, I tried to search e-bay but all I found is phone cases that go on top of the cover that I want.
Can anyone post up links to where I can get one? It would nice if I could also get a new chrome bezel trim piece too because that's damaged too.
Recently I got a new 'refurbished' Bold 9780 from Vodafone, I wanted to use my holster that I got from the box (the official one) , and whenever I put my blackberry in its fine, but when I take it back out the back cover (battery cover) slips off with it. I'm not sure why this happens, I put it in the correct way and everything. Maybe my case is loose? But I've tested the back cover, its perfectly on and doesn't jiggle about.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is the second 710 that have the same issue. The back cover around power button is starting getting loose after a week or 2 of usage. If I push the area slightly with my finger, it makes light noise. It is fatal problem but very annoying. The reason might be the plastic cover is not strong enough to stick to the phone body.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I searched around for iPhone cases, I couldn't find any that covered the buttons and the back of the phone. I also could not find any screen protectors. The only case was the Zagg stick-on case, and I don't really want that little shock protection. Does anyone know if there will be more cases by the 24th, when my iPhone is due?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently bought my blackberry the other day and it's been working great. However today I notices the back cover keeps making weird clicking noises whenever pressure is applied. Everytime I go to pick it up in my hand to text, the cover makes this noise. It appears to be due to a pocket of air between the cover and the battery but the noise is getting really annoying.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAny use the Motorola Date and Time Widget? Mine seems to hang at night (seemingly about 20min after I plug it in for charging) and stays on yesterdays date and time until somehow it corrects itself the next day. There is no way to "activate it" or make it correct itself. All other clocks and calendars are correct.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have a Sprint Motorola Photon 4G and I am using it in Brazil with a Claro SIM Card. The phone reboots itself sometimes when I try to make or receive a phone call (2 or 3 times a day). I know this is happening to other Photon owners and I already tried the factory reset twice. My build # is 4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_6. Does anyone know a fix for that?
