Motorola Motoactv :: Are Pace & Power Zone Templates Not Working
May 11, 2012
I've had a MOTOACTIVE for about a month now and I still haven't gotten to grips with the Pace & Power Zone settings. I could be wrong but to me it seems like they're just not working. In the Pace Zone settings the lower and upper limits are all set to meaningless values and I've tried a number of times to set them manually with no luck. Then the Power Zones Templates are completely blank and I am unable to set anything at all.
When I run, the coach tells me that I have reached a mile and that that I ran it in 12 minutes and my average pace was 12 minutes... that makes sense (and yes I know I am slow ). However, when I reach mile 2, it tells me I ran it in 11 minutes and that my average pace was 11 minutes.I expected it to say average page 11.50 miles per hour so I can try and improve my average pace over the course of my run.
I tried to set my pace zones and save it as a template but when i select the template it marks "10:00" in every zone (lower and upper) Is this a bug? How do I set my pace zones?
I have attempted to set up custom pace zones, as well as edit exising. However, the numbers I put in change and do not reflect anything close to what I put in.
I like the running Pace Zone Feature! It worked for me on the day I did a fit test. I ran 6 miles after the fit test and was able to take a glance at my watch and see the zone I was in. Very cool. I went to the website and tweaked my zones and saved a new template.I can't get the pace zones function to work since then. I'm sure it is operator error.
I see people posting workarounds on how to create pace zones (as an example) so settings will stick....I can't figure out how to create them in the first place....where would I input the data? The drop down only has "my zone templates" - and is not selectable. Am I in the wrong place?
On a run today I went down a spiral ramp under a bridge and lost my gps signal several times. I was wearing a footpod. I noticed my pace measurement slowed down from a 6 min mile to about 18 min/mi.
1st question...since I had a paired footpod shouldn't it have taken over to make the pace measurement more accurate in situations exactly like this?
2nd question... assuming the footpod was taking over, how accurate is it since there seems to be no way to calibrate the actual footpod. Is the data from the footpod constantly being taken into account and then integrated back into my final workout stats?
I have 4 zones setup in my pace zones: rest, walk, run, sprint.
I am trying to setup walk / run intervals at 2 minutes at my "walk" pace zone and 2 minutes at my "run" pace zone.
In the workout planner I am able to select the appropriate pace zone when setting up my interval workout, but the pace zone that I selected is not saved. I click save and re-enter the workout plan and the zones are defaulted back to my first zone of "rest."
Using my Garmin 305 I can glance at the watch at anytime (assuming it has found satellites) and see my current pace. How do i see my pace on my MOTOACTV without having to go though the process of starting a workout session? How on earth the Motorola QA department allowed the watch and web site to be released to the public in its initial state amazes me. (I am a software developer for a large company so do have some experience) even with the software fixes there are still a number of areas where the watch and site are poor. Somebody at Motorola must be, or should be, getting into a serious amount of trouble over this.MOTOACTV 8G 4.57.78
Interesting discovery during this morning's run - happened to flick the unit for a metrics update and, along with the other data, the audio coach announced an average pace that was actually the average pace for the whole run rather than for the current mile! All I need now is for the audio alert at the end of each mile to give me the average pace for the whole run and I am happy.
Oh, except that towards the end of the run the unit went weird on me (the voice announced in my ear that I had burned 4000 calories in 7 miles and then it stopped recording the distance I had run. It was raining but I think this is all connected to the sleeve of my running top swiping the screen and changing settings as I ran - hope so anyway!).
Is there a way during a workout Run or Weight Training to get a notification or Alert when I hit a zone. This would be useful especially if I am doing interval training.
The unit worked normally for my workout yesterday. This morning I tried to turn it on for my workout, and nothing happens. I plugged it into the computer to see if I had inadvertently killed the battery. The white charging light comes on, but the display doesn't show the battery percentage graphic, and nothing happens when I push the power button. The Motorola charger is at home, so I can't try that until after work.
Is anyone aware of any BLE(bluetooth low energy)/low power consumption stereo headsets? I am currently using a Jabra Clipper but I'm certain it does not support BLE. As after an hour and 40 minute indoor run with Moto's chest strapped HRM, display always on, backlight all the way down, sampling set to two seconds, my MA only has 50% battery remaining after starting fully charged.8GB running .78
Received a new 16GB Motoactv this evening. Completed set up of MotoCast on my MAC. Unit was working fine, GPS / Radio etc.
Then checked for software update, it found 4.56.76, downloaded the sw and started to update. After about 30mins the MAC had a box saying updating, do not disconnect and the screen of the unit seems to be cycling. Initially I'd see the red batwings then an image of the unit and the progress bar underneath. The yellow moves about 1/3 along the bar then stops, after a minute or so the unit seems to power cycle > batwings > and so on....
After about 45 mins I disconnected the unit from the USB/MAC, tried a start + pwr reset but I still only get to this cycling mode (batwings > image + progress bar). Unit was charged for about an hour before I started the initial set up.
Am I missing something here? Should the MotoACTV bike speed/cadence sensor be tracking power/watts itself of is there another accessory that I need to get? It's recording all other info without difficulty. I've only used it about 3 times but always get a 0/0 when it comes to the power/watts reading.
Purchased a MotoActv brand new from eBay about 3 months ago. The best product to date i have used for tracking my gym session.I have noticed that everytime i press the power button, the volume increase and the music section starts ups. Very hard to track my gym work majority of the time as it stops the start button to work.I have updated to the latest version, no change in behaviour.Powering off is not an option as it automatically goes into bootloader mode, very hard to get it out of bootloader mode.
Before timing out and shutting off the display MOTOACTV changes to a monochrome display for a second. To wear the device as a watch, is there a way to enable this monochrome display for extended periods and thus burn less power?
Just installed the Motoactv, all OK except for the FM, it doesnt work at all, earphone connected, it senses the connection since it report no signal when I take it out, but it cant find any stations
I live in South Africa. I do not find a South African time zone in the list. If I use another city in the +2-hour time zone, my clock time is 1 hour fast. Does it matter to the other applications if a different time zone is selected? Can one perhaps download an augmented time zone list?
Few days ago I want try listen some music but it can not play! No reaction at all! Also FM radio, show "No Signal". I try reset factory and change the headphone but still have this problem.
I don't understand what is happening with the app but I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Moto Photon is my phone All it keep saying is please wait, synchroniation in progress. I call customer service and they told me to reset my phone did that and reinstall the app but still no dice . Customer service said that the app feature for the phone was only available the razr and razr maxx. Did a google search but i'm still lead back here. I can receive text messages and email calls on my motoactv but I'm unable to recieve my fitness info on my phone.
I have the MOTOACTV for 3 months, and the "back key" was not operating correctly.Even i am inside, i warm my fingers, ...It works maybe 1/30 times. It is very ennoying, i need to turn off the watch
I just tried to sync with my computer (Windows 7 with full admin rights) and after installing and attempting to sync for to iTunes the first time I recieved aMML has stopped working error that forced the shut down of the application and would not let me open it back up again. To troubleshoot I've tried:1) reseting MotoActv to factory settings4) rebooting again5) reconnecting/reinstalling MotoCastUnfortunatly after all of the above the application continues not to work / fails with the same error every time I try to open it (not even making it to the sync page anymore) making the MotoActv essentially unusable since it won't sync workouts or download music.
I have not been able to get the Auto-lap function to work. During a workout, I have the 'Last Lap Pace' on my customised metrics view, but it only every reads: This is despite several runs of 6 / 7 miles. In order to try to get it working, I have the following set in 'Settings/Workout/Laps't
"MOTOACTV cannot connect to the server. Please try after sometime." when trying to sync fitness data. Tried with the USB cable as well, not working either. Is the service down?
