Dec 24, 2011My keyboard wont work all of a sudden. Switched phone on and off, all the checks, battery out while on, etc. Can only use screen.

Jul 2, 2012yesterday my bbtorch screen went blank and the error 606 message appeared, I solved (I THOUGHT I did) that problem by running a firmware update, the message disappeared but now that my phone is working I see that the keyboard nor any other physical key is working. When I slide it open the screen lights up and if it is on its side the image rotates so I think the device still recognizes the keyboard but I don't understand why it won't work, I'm currently running version 7.1.0.1149.

Aug 21, 2012The slide out keyboard on my tOrch has stopped working and O2 want to take my phone off me for at least 7 days to see if it can be repaired. Cannot be without for this long. Phone is less than 12 months old so should be under BB warranty.

Dec 1, 2011Recently my 9800 torch keyboard has stopped working it hasnt been exposed to water or anything. The touch screen is fine no problems at all i presumed that it had broken and that was that...then one morning my screen flashed black l(like it had been locked) and the keyboard started working then after 5 mins it stopped. This has happened for the past 3 mornings now so i thought it could poss be a software issue. I have rebooted my phone (bat pull) done a full wipe of everything and still no joy
My device version is v6.0.0.246 bundle 695 it says it is the latest software

Apr 21, 2012My touch screen keyboard does not come up when I want to use it and so I can only use my keyboard once I slide the screen up. I must have hit a button but for life of me cannot find which one I need to turn it back on again. It use to come up automatically when I touched in a typing area for texts, web etc - now nothing.

Does anyone know if there is a setting somewhere I need to activate, or is this likely to be a device fault? (By the way, I downloaded the latest software update and rebooted and took out the battery etc...) Everything else seems to work fine.

Feb 27, 2011I have had my BB for about a month now and it was working fine. The trackpad is very responsive and when the unit is closed the track pad works great but about a week ago the trackpad stopped working when the keyboard slider was open, after a few swipes it would come back to life however now the problem is worsened to the point where the trackpad is unresponsive when the kb is opened but as soon as I slide the kb back the track pad comes to life, this is the second unit that I have had problems with in 30 days. I have tried all the standard stuff like pulling the battery for a few hrs and such.

Aug 16, 2010I am having issues with the keys not working properly on the touchscreen keyboard. When the phone is in portrait and I press on a key what shows up is the key at the left end of that row ex: if I press L an A shows up on the screen, if I press U I get a Q. If I turn the phone so that the keyboard is now on the same side as the USB port I only get whatever buttons are on the bottom of the screen. If I turn it 180 degress none of the keys work.
I have also noticed this happening in applications like Google Latitude. If I press any of the icons on the bottm of the screen the only one that registers is the zoom out key.
If I do a battery pull things work well for a bit and then it starts acting up again.
I haven't seen anyone else posting about this and I am hoping that it is just this phone. I am exchanging it tonight.

Dec 1, 2015Yesterday around midnight my phone suddenly stopped working. I wasn't using it, it was just sitting on my desk and had been for at least half an hour.
When I boot it, it stays stuck on the boot animation.
Until yesterday it was running a custom built version of CM12.1 (from this thread: [URL] ...
With a ElementalX-N5-4.09 kernel.
I tried:
Reflashing the ROM
Wiping and Reflashing the ROM
Wiping and Reflashing the ROM, without ElementalX
Wiping and Flashing an older version
Wiping and formating of user data too + Reflashing
complete reset by doing fastboot oem lock/unlock
flashing of the factory image of Android 6
Each time the result is the same. When the phone was still running cyanogen I had adb while it was booting (that's no longer the case) and I saw nothing striking ... it would have one (pc) screen worth of log (logcat) and then nothing it would just stop. I couldn't spot anything in kernel logs either (dmesg/last_kmsg).
The recovery is working fine ... I was able to start an ssh server and use it... it's just android that won't boot.
