I have a huge problem with my blackberry torch 9800 : My keyboard just randomly stop working! it had no choc, the central touch still moving but I cannot select anything! except this one, no other touch is working...what can I do?

View 5 Replies View RelatedRecently my 9800 torch keyboard has stopped working it hasnt been exposed to water or anything. The touch screen is fine no problems at all i presumed that it had broken and that was that...then one morning my screen flashed black l(like it had been locked) and the keyboard started working then after 5 mins it stopped. This has happened for the past 3 mornings now so i thought it could poss be a software issue. I have rebooted my phone (bat pull) done a full wipe of everything and still no joy
My device version is v6.0.0.246 bundle 695 it says it is the latest software
I got a new BB Torch 9800 a few days ago and the physical keyboard won;t work (and has never worked) when I slide it out. Does anyone know if there is a setting somewhere I need to activate, or is this likely to be a device fault? (By the way, I downloaded the latest software update and rebooted and took out the battery etc...) Everything else seems to work fine.

The trackpad is very responsive and when the unit is closed the track pad works great but about a week ago the trackpad stopped working when the keyboard slider was open, after a few swipes it would come back to life however now the problem is worsened to the point where the trackpad is unresponsive when the kb is opened but as soon as I slide the kb back the track pad comes to life, this is the second unit that I have had problems with in 30 days. I have tried all the standard stuff like pulling the battery for a few hrs and such.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having issues with the keys not working properly on the touchscreen keyboard. When the phone is in portrait and I press on a key what shows up is the key at the left end of that row ex: if I press L an A shows up on the screen, if I press U I get a Q. If I turn the phone so that the keyboard is now on the same side as the USB port I only get whatever buttons are on the bottom of the screen. If I turn it 180 degress none of the keys work.
I have also noticed this happening in applications like Google Latitude. If I press any of the icons on the bottm of the screen the only one that registers is the zoom out key.
If I do a battery pull things work well for a bit and then it starts acting up again.
I haven't seen anyone else posting about this and I am hoping that it is just this phone. I am exchanging it tonight.
As an avid business crackberry fan (and business manager) for over 3 years, I was appalled to find that I would need to slide the keyboard out to enter my security code, especially when I would do it 50-100 times per day. As every other touchscreen phone on the market has a pattern unlock method, this is the single issue preventing from purchasing this phone(s) PLEASE ISSUE AN UPDATE/APP/PATCH anything to bring this vital security & efficiency issue up to par.

View 5 Replies View RelatedTwice in the past week I got my phone out and it was off and unresponsive. I had to do soft boot with power volume down to get the phone working. This is something that I have not experienced with other android phones. I am on Verizon with stock Galaxy S6 running 5.0.2.
Is this a defective phone or some application causing problems. What steps can I take to troubleshoot the problem. Having my phone randomly stop working is unacceptable as this is my primary line. I can't afford to miss calls.
It turns off whenever I try to use the browser or the camera without fail and other random times. In these instances, it doesn't not show a battery drained shutting down warning. It has to be charging in order for it to reboot, but once it does the battery reads that it is 100% charged. Being on a phone call will drain a full battery in less than 5 mins, and it will flash the empty battery and say radio too low for handset use or whatever. In this case, I can charge it and it goes through the usual process where the light turns yellow and the bar slowly fills up. If I do a battery pull at this time, it restarts fully charged. The time it lasts out of the wall is anywhere from 5 mins-1 hour. I have no 3rd party applications and I did a complete device reset last month due to the same problems. I don't know much about software, but it says everything is up to date.

My 9800 from ATT works great and I really like using this but the annoying aspect of the phone is that it randomly uninstalls my applications. Today, the Blackberry software gift, DriveSafe.ly enterprise edition uninstalled itself and it's no longer on my phone. The reason I know this is that when I go to the App world and click on the app, it says "download now" and if it was already there, it should say "already installed." This part of the Blackberry is my most annoying issue. Is there another way? With the free apps it's easy, just re-install. But with this one since it was gifted do I have to pay to get it re-install? I have not gone through a restore yet, hoping don't have to.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHer phone was perfect before doing the updates. Now, she claims the BT just turns off and won't turn back on (in the car, connected to the car audio system). I looked at her phone the other day and sure enough, BT and WIFI were both OFF, and when I tried to turn them on, it said something like "Sorry, can't to that right now. Try again later.". Turned off phone and turned back on, and it's fine...for a while, then does the same thing.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI had my BlckBerry Torch 9800 with; OS 6.0 with Bundle 1907 plugged in all night charging and when I got up this morning the phone was rebooting. While after awhile of this I watch the phone go 3/4 of the way to start up then it reboots. Over and Over.Fixes I have tried:
1) removed battery wait 30 sec and put back in. NO LUCK
2) removed battery wait 6 min and put back in. NO LUCK
The letter 'i' appears without a dot each time I type it in email, messenger and text messaging. As a result, I cannot send emails as the recipient address is not recognised.
I have rebooted several times and restored to an earlier date when I didn't have this problem, but to no avail.
it's essentially dead. The touch screen and everything else worksfine, but the phyisical keyboard won't work.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have been keeping recommending iPhone 4 to my girlfriend, who is going to get her Master degree from Columbia Univ and step into business world. And she said, "wow, it looks wonderful but too naive/childish for me".
And then I bought her the iPod Touch, just for casual use. (I would make Torch a great surprise since she always wants a Blackberry. Samsung sucks btw, we have had 3 Samsung phones and they are all crap - hardware-wise).
I love iPhone, but I could not live without a keyboard phone. Sorry Droid and iPhone fanboys, touchscreen just sucks for business users/ users mainly do texing and little cell-photo-taking.
If you are not a college boy, and you are a real businessman, I bet you would be as busy as me so 40% of your time is for emails/texting/notepad/calendar, 30% for phone calls, 20% or less for web browsing, and 10% for enjoying music when driving (or on subways while reading newspapers) and other multimedia functions.
And seriously, I only use my phone to take pictures of notes on whiteboard or product labels when I don't have a camera at hand. And if you really like taking photos, DSLR would do you good.
Do you really need a 800x600 display for texting?phone calls?. And how much do you rely on web browsing by cell phone? It's just for checking some information when you are outside.
Let's see what Torch does best from all kinds of reviews: Gizmo, Engadget, BGR, Crackberry....
1). Top notch keyboard - good for 40% of time texting/emails/notepad/calendar
2). Great call quality - good for another 30% of time, and no drop calls/death grips
3). WebKit Browser - enough for 20% of time web browsing - after all we all own laptops (you don't have one?)
4). Improved media experience - I am ok with just listening to music. I seldom watch videos on handheld devices - only nerds do it often.
Hence, the bottom line: is there any other good keyboard phone out there? (with a touch screen and not as ugly/huge as Droid)?
=) CPU is fine, Screen resolution is fine (I am really ok with texting and managing my business life with Bold's screen resolution).
After all, do you really spend 80% of your time on cell phone while you have friends and can do all the things on a computer?
I was using the full on screen keyboard and actually getting use to it, lot's of mistakes made but I was still going with the flow. I read a post yesterday that suggested switching to the Reduced Keyboard.
It made all the difference, I type a million times faster!!!! No need for the slider keyboard.I recommend to everyone out there, at least give it a shot and see the difference if you aren't already doing it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had a torch since October 2010 and just in the last 2 days it has stopped responding when using the keyboard or buttons.
When I pull the battery and reboot, I can use the touch screen to unlock, and then can go in to any item. Example: open text, can scroll and find a test to view, tap it and open. I can then reply, forward delete with the screen options but once that is done I am now stuck in the text message. My only option is to pull the battery.
I can not make phone calls but can answer by sliding up the screen. When call is done I can not end just have to wait for other person to hang up.
I have checked for Water damage and there is none, the phone has not had a hard drop and the to sides are very solid (not loose).
