BB Torch 9800 Smartphone :: Pinch Zoom Stopped Working All Of Sudden
Sep 1, 2010
so I was using the torch and all of a sudden the pinch zoom function stopped working (in or out)I figured maybe I hit a series of keys to shut the setting off? I can zoom in/out via a double tap on the screen, or by using the mouse
My convenience key was working fine but then it stopped opening any application...Anyone else have this happen. I changed it in the setup and in the options screens but nothing.
How can I setup zoom mode?I just bought Blackberry Torch and after the applications update, from my old device 8320, the function about zoom in and zoom out, using fingers, isn't working.Anyone know how to setup this function?
It seems I can only pinch zoom some sites but not others. For example I can't increase the font size or zoom into yahoo.com, but I could before the Anna update.
And still no automatic resizing on zoomable sites either!
I started having problems with my BBM yesterday. My online browser is working fine, but when I try to send a message thru BBM I get the little red clock icon that shows. I've tried the battery pull and that still does not resolve the issue. Any suggestions?
I was running a few tests to see check speed of my browser on my home network over ATT. When I disable the Mobile Network and enable wifi to my home network, I get an error in my browser "You are not currently in an area that can handle data communication".
I connected successfully to my home network as shown by status on top of home screen. Is there another setting I need to select to 'force" use of my home network? I used to have this in my BOLD settings under browser options, but from what I read the connection switch is supposed to happen automatically on the Torch browser.
I've got the torch 9800, and my zoom doesn't work anymore, I've ticked to disable it, then enable it again but still wont work. What else can I do or try, The camera was one of the functions as why I got this phone.
The camera zoom stopped working on my 9800, did the battery pull, complete whipe with a software update as recommended but with no success, problem remains.
I am having issues with the keys not working properly on the touchscreen keyboard. When the phone is in portrait and I press on a key what shows up is the key at the left end of that row ex: if I press L an A shows up on the screen, if I press U I get a Q. If I turn the phone so that the keyboard is now on the same side as the USB port I only get whatever buttons are on the bottom of the screen. If I turn it 180 degress none of the keys work.
I have also noticed this happening in applications like Google Latitude. If I press any of the icons on the bottm of the screen the only one that registers is the zoom out key.
If I do a battery pull things work well for a bit and then it starts acting up again.
I haven't seen anyone else posting about this and I am hoping that it is just this phone. I am exchanging it tonight.
As an avid business crackberry fan (and business manager) for over 3 years, I was appalled to find that I would need to slide the keyboard out to enter my security code, especially when I would do it 50-100 times per day. As every other touchscreen phone on the market has a pattern unlock method, this is the single issue preventing from purchasing this phone(s) PLEASE ISSUE AN UPDATE/APP/PATCH anything to bring this vital security & efficiency issue up to par.
It seems to have occurred recently and am wondering if it is related to the recent Nokia camera/beta camera updates. I'm running 8.1 DP but I don't believe I was having this issue before and I don't believe I have had any recent big falls or jolts to the phone that might cause mechanical problems and I believe the zoom works fine in still pictures.
Recently my 9800 torch keyboard has stopped working it hasnt been exposed to water or anything. The touch screen is fine no problems at all i presumed that it had broken and that was that...then one morning my screen flashed black l(like it had been locked) and the keyboard started working then after 5 mins it stopped. This has happened for the past 3 mornings now so i thought it could poss be a software issue. I have rebooted my phone (bat pull) done a full wipe of everything and still no joy
My device version is v6.0.0.246 bundle 695 it says it is the latest software
Right after taking a picture (sometimes, but not all of the time) I can see the picture but cannot pinch zoom it. This drives me nuts! Especially if I need to snap a quick picture of something like a nameplate on a device and then zoom to read the info.
I have had my BB Torch 9800 for about 6 months now and I really like it. It seemed to be working fine and all of a sudden about a month ago the keys would stop working. I have taken the battery out for a reset and that works for a little while, but they stop working again. The phone has not water or physical damage to it so I have no idea why it has started doing this. I called AT&T several different times and all they could tell me was to troubleshoot the software. I have done that and did all of the necessary updates.
I was playing around with the camera and I notice that the storm2 is able to pinch to zoom in the camera. Has anyone else experience this or am I just late to party? Would you think that this something that can be extend to other areas of the phone?
the pinch zoom on my phone doesnt seem to work. If i am browsing the web i cant pinch to zoom in i have to click the scroll button to zoom. Otherwise the touchscreenw works perfectly fine.. and its the same with pictures i cant zoom in my pinching on the picture but all this used to work ever since yesterday it doesnt.
Since the ICS upgrade everything is smoother but I recently noticed that the only thing that remains the same is "pinch to zoom" in images. It feels like is not using hardware acceleration or something, for example when I pinch to zoom in chrome or the stock ics browser it feels really smooth, but when I do the same from the gallery app, or camera app, it is totally slow.
updated last night and now when i go into the calander i get the message "The process com. android.calander has stopped unexpectently. please try again." then i have to press force close. Also the pinch/zoon works fine on the internet but differently when on photos that i have taken. You cannot pinch, to zoom you have to drag your finger up and it vibrates when you touch the screen and a white streak comes up on the pic while you are draging your finger, visa verse to zoom out.
I'm not sure how to connect my school email to my blackberry Torch. My school e-mail is weird because when I go inside everything looks exactly like gmail but it isn't exactly gmail beacuse you can't sign on from www.gmail.com. Gotta go through the school website. It does provide instructions on how to link to the Blackberry but it doens't work for the Torch because the option doesn't exist. (Instructions)To set up the BlackBerry's email client with Google Apps email (IMAP), just follow these steps: On your BlackBerry device, navigate to your home screenSelect the icon that lets you set up email (this can be called Setup, Setup Wizard, Email Setup, BlackBerry Set-up, E-mail settings, or Personal Email Set-up)Follow the setup instructions provided on your device to create a new e-mail accountBe sure to enter the following:Mail Server: imap.gmail.comUsername: [your full Google Apps email address]Password: [your Google Apps password]IMAP Port: 993Allow the system to add your account, but do not enter your Google Apps password into the utility boxes (this causes the system to default to POP3 instead of IMAP)Select NextSelect Next again (bypassing the 'Additional Information Required' section)Select your account type, then select Next. You may encounter a 'We were unable to configure...' error. Select I will provide the settings to continueSelect the option that mentions 'IMAP/POP'Select I will provide the settings..., then select NextSelect Set up existing email account...Enter your Google Apps account information here, with 'imap.gmail.com' as your mail serverSelect NextSelect Save
I have no problem viewing Office Words document. It can be easily moved around by dragging, pinch and zoom etc. But with the default PDF reader, Not responsive to drag. Highly resistance to pinch and zoom.
As you already know, the ring volume on the Torch 9800 is extremely low. So I tried to email custom mp3 ringtones to my phone to use instead. In attempting to do so, I received a message saying "More request cannot be completed. Service book information not found." I also received this message when trying to email a photo to my blackberry. This never use to happen in past blackberries I have owned.
How do I fix this "service book information not found" issue ?
I have bought a Torch, but cannot get it to set up in the Organizer configuration to sync with my Calendar in MS Office XP- Outlook. My computer runs Windows XP. The contacts and memo will configure (although) they are posting to an archive folder and when I try to change that I get Error 0x80043bea), but the Calendar and Tasks will go through the set-up process, but when you finish it, the checkmark on those 2 Outlook folder disappears before you can even select the advance settings.I have re-set the configuration on the Desktop software a couple of times, to no avail, and uninstalled the Desktop 6.0 software and reinstalled it. None of these measures have changed the problem.Any suggestions?
When the phone is off, it seems that a simple tap of the Red power button turns the phone on again. This seems like a design flaw. All other non BB devices that I know off require you to hold the power button for a couple of seconds to turn it back on.This prevents the phone from accidently being turned on.
Let me explain a use case. When you are flying you have to turn your phones off.So the normal procedure is to hold the red hang up key and the phone will power down. This is as expected.Assume you then put the BlackBerry device in the seat pocket in front of you.Midway through the flight you hit your knee against the seat pocket. The red power button it tapped during this process. The phone now powers on.You are about to land and your phone rings. The flight attendant and the passengers all give you unpleasant looks through no real fault of your own. This type of issue has occurred a few times.
I realize you can go in and manually turn off phone connections but this is an extra step.Turning the phone off should take care of this and there should stay off until the user wants to turn it on. I see this behaviour on my 8310 and 8900 and 9800.I hope there is something simple I'm missing??
On my blackberry torch home screen, there is status icon on top which consists of a red circle with a white "w" in the middle of it. Just to the right is the number "1". Does anyone know what this means?
I just bought a Blackberry Torch. I found that I cannot read Chinese character on torch, let alone input Chinese. It just display some black bulks instead of Chinese.
Somebody told me I have to wait for new OS versions which might includes languages like Chinese.
