My device started shutting down a couple of weeks ago with no apparent trigger.At first, a simple battery pull would be followed by a successful reboot. As time passed, this was no longer sufficient and I had to do a battery pull while the device was plugged in to a power source, for full reboot.
View 2 RepliesI have been using the Torch 9800 for about 1.5 yr. Recently, it started to shutdown unexpectedly, evenif battery is still at 90% or so. Here are the my current config:
6.0 Bundle 862 (v6.0.0284, Platform 6.4.0.120)
3G Bands 1,2,5,6
The most recent Apps update was Facebook (3.1.0.17). But the issue started just before the last Facebook update. I have minimum apps downloaded (<10), and I do not download music etc. Did a SW update check and got a confirmation that the Torch SWs are all up to date (from Phone/Software Updates). Storage is about 50% filled for both buit-in & media card. Most of the shutdown happen unexpectedly. No warning or whatsoever. There were a couple of incident where there was a brief msg pops up indicating the battery power is drained.
While debugging the issue, I notice that the shutdown only happen when I was on 3G. Knowing that 3G consume more power, I suspect it could be a battery issue. But serching online, it doesn't seem necessary a battery issue. I do not want to spend $$ on a new battery and not solving the problem. The physical appearence of the batter looks perfectly good (no deformation or any sort).
For the past one week or so, after the device was shut down. I normally do a battery pull. But it didn't help at all. After leaving the battery out for a minute or so, and the long reboot, once on 3G, it will go down again within a minute or so. If I turn off the 3G immediately after boot up, and continue to use WiFI, then it will stay on. But once I turn 3G back on, it will go down again, especially when I running the browser.
i was charging it on my laptop and all of a sudden couldn't turn on, i dont know if the charge finished...i tried a bunch of basic stuff, lock button power off power on, or whatever but nothing works...im also not getting a red blinking light that certain people got after searching on Google?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently got a brand new Galaxy S II with a new contract and have been using with a lot of joy. However, recently a problem occurred with the battery in a sense that it sometimes suddenly goes from 30-ish % to 0 instantly, therefore causing my phone to shut down with no warning. Also, after this happened, I cannot just plug in the phone to the charger, because for some reason it does not charge. I have to remove the battery and then put it back in again before I can charge it. This has been happening almost daily and I don't know what the cause is. The phone is not rooted or tampered with in any way.

As an avid business crackberry fan (and business manager) for over 3 years, I was appalled to find that I would need to slide the keyboard out to enter my security code, especially when I would do it 50-100 times per day. As every other touchscreen phone on the market has a pattern unlock method, this is the single issue preventing from purchasing this phone(s) PLEASE ISSUE AN UPDATE/APP/PATCH anything to bring this vital security & efficiency issue up to par.

I am thinking the safest way to not have a problem is the just restore my 9800 data from a back up rather than do the Switch Device thing. Anyone worried it might bring erroneous crap into the new 6.0 OS.
Maybe it would be better to redo my settings after the data install to make sure all is clean and working correctly. Some of the 5.0 setting would not be applicable to the new 6.0 software.
Every once in a while, when I select CAMERA, the device reboots! Missed a lot of pictures because this happens - not all the time, and not in conjunction with any other activity/function of the Storm II.

View 1 Replies View RelatedTwitter and facebook apps worked just fine on wifi. I don't have a data plan. Then Rogers gave me 2 months of free data plan. Now that the 2 months have ended, the twitter, facebook apps along with a few others only work sporadically on wifi for the last 2 weeks. They do not necessarily connect to the internet (network unavailable), even when the browser does connect. It seems the apps are having problems but the browser is doing okay. After a reboot, it works for an hour or so before losing connection. Then it can be a day and multiple reboots before it comes back.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Galaxy S6 on Verizon. Stock Email program with corporate Exchange email account. 2 emails that I delete on the phone just won't go away. No matter how many times I delete them, or which method I use, I even tried moving them to the Trash folder, they pop back up in my inbox. Confirmed they are completely deleted on the Exchange server. I have cleared the cache and cleared the data on the multiple Email programs in the application manager multiple times, they still come back, just these two specific emails. I also booted into the menu and wiped the whole cache partition, no luck.

My school e-mail is weird because when I go inside everything looks exactly like gmail but it isn't exactly gmail beacuse you can't sign on from www.gmail.com. Gotta go through the school website. Sometimes you can see them in the preview area but when you click on them you get a weird icon that looks like a wheel. Sometimes even in the preview area you cannot see the pic at all.Still on the official OS that came with the phone. Does anyone know what the problem is? I recently swapped out to a larger memory card but I had the problem on both cards.
