BB Curve :: 9300 - Media Sync Grayed Out And Unavailable
May 1, 2011
I am using Curve 9300 with desktop software 6.02.44 and BB device software 6.0 bundle 2391. Laptop is running Windows 7. I do not have a media card installed on BB 9300. When I plug BB into USB on laptop, there is no drive letter showing up in Explorer. In Desktop software, Media Sync Music, Videos, Pictures when it is clicked it says "A Problem Occurred while trying to connect to your BB device". In Device Options in desktop software Synchronize Media Files is grayed out.
Media tab says "Media options are not available". Is there a hardware or driver problem? Do I need a media card to have these options available? I have camera pictures on the internal BB memory but cannot transfer them to my laptop with a USB connection because of this problem. Backup and restore is no problem. Install and remove applications is no problem. Desktop software detects the BB no problem. Only problem is the Media Sync does not work. With the same laptop and desktop software the Media Sync works no problem with my BB Torch 9800.
I purchased a Blackberry Curve 9300 yesterday on pay as you go from Orange. I have activated my new sim card but when I put it in it says I am recieving Orange signal but I cannot make any calls/send any texts or set up my e-mail on there. When I try to do this it says 'Service Unavailable' but yet it lets me go on the internet browser. I have also tried my old Orange sim card in the phone and it's exactly the same.
I recently bought Black Berry curve 9300 Smartphone #g wif-Fi V 5.0.0.977 (Bundle 1602, Platform 6.3.0.6.3. I have problem with the address Book in the Blackberry Desktop Application shows under- Applications- Address Book (not installed) this is happened after 233 out of 720 Contact of my Outlook contact was synchronized in my black Berry, I can't sync it any more? I went through configuration and reset in the Desktop application and I can click in address book and associate the contact with outlook, when I click OK, it is still "Grey out" in the Desktop Application, and still shows 'Not installed? I Checked for application update and I update the desktop from 5 to 6. It is still Grey out and shows "Address Book not installed"? Interesting point is I have BB Curve 8320 and it is in my BB desktop application and I can sync the address book and the application is not grey out?
I had hoped that the latest update would solve the greyed out Contacts synch option. No such luck! I have not been able to synch contacts for the past 3 months. And you wonder why Blackberry stock continues to fall? This will probably be my last Blackberry if something doesn't change soon!
The Specs: BB Curve 8310 (EDGE) O/S v4.2.2.170 (platform 2.5.0.30) Carrier - AT&T BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) Vista Home Premium 64 bit- SP1 BB Desktop Manager Version 5.0.1 (March 2010) USB cable for sync The Problem: How do I reconfigure the sync setting on a "grayed-out" Desktop Manager (DTM) v5.0.1? But please read on...when I updated my DTM from v4.3.0 to 5.0.1 I think I was asked how I wanted to set up my sync. I accidentally set up the sync guidelines to sync upon connection and my old settings on my previous DTM (v4.3.0) had a sync that went both ways. But what I really want to do is to reconfigure my sync settings to "One Way Sync FROM device (BB data --> laptop). I need to do this because all my data is on my BB device and is not on my laptop due to a hard drive crash on my laptop. I will lose years of data if I do not sync in the proper direction. On the "grayed-out" DTM I cannot click on anything to change the sync settings. I just keep getting the DTM message, "Before you begin, verify that your current BlackBerry device is connected to your computer". But if I connect my BB device with the computer, I am afraid the sync may not go in the correct direction that I require and I will lose my data. I am a new user to the setup process and would really appreciate a step-by-step approach from start to finish to solve this issue. Your suggestions will be most appreciated and I thank you in advance.
I have installed the Blackberry desktop software and my new Curve 9300 connects and preforms the feature of syncing with my Outlook 2010 and does the backup and does the software upgrades for my phone. The one thing i cannot seem go get to happen is the media sync. The card is installed and under the option the card is enabled and sees the 2GIG therefore i assume the mass storage mode is turned on since both check boxes are enabled at the top of STORAGE in OPTIONS.I have just about spent my entire day reading thru the net trying to get differnt takes on the problem but at this point before i have installed and uninstalled to the point of creating havoc on my laptop i would just like to know a direction to take. Also if this matter or not when the phone is plug in thru the USB cable and in "My Computer" I do not see the 2Gig Card listed as a drive or anything like that.
Current version of OS software on the phone is 6.0.0.461 Current Blackberry Software is Dec 6.2010 Bundle 21
have a BB 9300 curve an downloaded music files to the music folder. Everything played and was working fine.I then uploaded and deleted some music files through the bb pc software via the usb cable. Now everything seems corrupted and none works properly. The files are in the play list, but I can't play or delete them. The main screen also shows that there are 12 songs in the library, but there are only 8 (of which none work)
I've been trying to sync media files. I've downloaded Blackberry Media Sync and when connected, all I get is a message "Please connect a Blackberry device". I have Compression on "enabled", Memory Card Support, Media Transfer, Mass Storage all "on", and switched Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected to "Yes". I've tried every USB on my computer, turned the phone off, on, etc. It doesn't seem to recognize that the BB is connected.
I've just had to re-install the blackberry media sync program onto my laptop, so now whenever i plug my phone into my laptop the program opens up. But it doesn't recognize my phone and keeps saying 'connect your smartphone' or something like that even though it is connected. I don't think the USB is damaged because it still manages to connect my phone to my laptop and charge it, so how do i get my media sync to recognize it?
I am using the Blackberry Curve 9300 and I am also currently using the Yahoo Calendar and Google Calendar for separate uses. I find that I am not able to sync my Blackberry Curve 9300 to either of these Calendar.
On my computer, I am currently using Thunderbird and hope that I will be able to syn my calendar here as well.
My Curve willl not Sync with outlook. I have tried removing the desktop software and reinstalling and now it will not install the latest version. This all occured because my calander would not sync and was requesting to sync with .ics file? instead of windows outlook.
I am new to the Blackberry game, having used Nokia smartphones mostly.I got a Blackberry Curve 3G 9300 couple of days back. It came with OS 5 pre-installed. I got a BB plan activated with my provider (Airtel - www.airtel.in ) and got it to sync my work email, contacts and calendar using the BIS site. My employer uses Google Apps Premier Edition, so it was a rather painless process.Afterwards, I upgraded the device to OS6. Once the upgrade was complete, my emails started syncing automatically - nothing really needed from my side. But the Calendar and Contacts do not sync any more. I can see that the checkboxes for Calendar and Contacts are enabled both on the BIS site as well as the device, but they simply do not sync.
I have tried and tried, but can't get Media Sync to find my BB Curve.
Desktop Manager can find my BB - and it says it's working & connected, but when I launch Media Sync, after 3 mins of searching, it says "Please connect a BB device".
I have tried without launching DTM - i.e. launching Media Sync on its own. I have tried all variations of restarts, of both BB and laptop AND removing the battery at all sorts of stages in the process. No joy.
I don't see a drive on Windows Explorer with my BB however. I'm running Windows Vista, SP1.
1. Device model number: 8520 2. carrier or mobile provider: Virgin Mobile 3. OS release v 5.0.0.592
Extra history: 1) I downloaded Desktop Manager from the CD and then updated it automatically. 2) I then followed some detailed instructions from this forum elsewhere and totally removed every trace of it (including regedit entries). 3) I downloaded a clean copy of the latest DTM from BB website 4) I then updated the Curve OS software - now on version 5.01 (and yes, like everyone I prefered the old style of key locking!) 5) I also replaced the USB cable since that seemed to provoke a constant cycle of reboots on my BB - this was an earlier problem that a different cable fixed, but that's another story!
I have repeatedly downloaded media sync, and I cannot transfer pictures off of my girlfriend's 8530 curve? Anyone else experience this? If so, how did you get around it?Since all the documentation is for the PC, I'm thinking RIM is trying to pull a fast one on Mac users.

Since upgrading to OS 6 I can no longer sync my GroupWise calendar appointments on my BB Curve 3G 9300. Previously I used OS 5 and GroupWise v 8.0.1 and the sync was fine. I accepted the prompt to upgrade to OS6 and now it fails as soon as it tries to sync. We don't have an Enterprise server. Do I have to downgrade the OS to v 5 again (how do I do this?)
Couple weeks ago I changed something on my win. 7 OS. Now, for some reason, none of my apple products are available for sync over wi-fi. Had previously worked for months with no problems. Is there a trouble-shooter?
I have a Blackberry 9300 Curve. When I sync my BB using desktop manager the time zone re-sets itself from GMT Dublin London time to Eniwetok-12 gmt ( I don't even know were Eniwetok is) . Here's some of the settings and systems information. On the Blackberry under Date and Time the update time is set to automatic, time zone- 12 hour-auto update. On the Desktop Software I have all the default settings to standard 2 way sync default with Microsoft Outlook 2007. The time zone on my computer is GMT London Dublin. I am running on Windows 7 - 64 bit.
We recently upgraded my wife's Blackberry to a Curve 3G 9330. When we try to sync to Outlook (non-Exchange), we encounter an error with the contacts (address book). The Desktop Software simply indicates an "unknown error" - not particularly facilitate. We've narrowed it down to a potentially bad contact record on the Blackberry, but cannot find a way to delete it. The options menu will not come up on the Blackberry for this one record. We've try to sync the device by overwriting the contacts with new data from Outlook, but still get's the same error message. I cannot find any information on erasing/deleting the complete contact list on the Blackberry.
I am using curve 9300. I installed blackberry desktop sw and tried to sync my outlook contacts. The sw read all the 745 contacts and asked me to accept or reject. So when I clicked on accept, it just copied 4 items without any contact details and just crashed and gave an error msg "unknown error". I tried to delete those contacts and it's not allowing me to do so without giving any msg. I don't even get a delete msg on the bb. I even tried to press on menu when I go to the contacts and it won't appear on those particular records. I rebooted the pc and the phone and tried again and got "error encountered, error code 0x80040fb3". I even uninstalled the application and tried ver 4 & 5. The result is the same. I am stuck with those records and can't delete them. Further 740 contact that can't have on my blackberry.
Since upgrading to Version 5.0.1 neither the media manger nor blackberry media synch now work. the media manager always prompts to install and downloads but then does nothing. The blackberry media sync gets so far after launch the gives an error message. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling a number of times but cannot get the media manager to install so cannot now get any media off my phone or on to it. Any ideas anyone?
Carrier: Verizon Blackberry Curve 8330 Recently I upgraded my Desktop Manager to Version 6.0.0.40 and now I can't transfer media files to my Curve 8330.One thing I tried was to update my device OS to 4.5.0.175, this did not work. The DM shows that Media Options are not available, that I have to trun on mass storage mode from the device.Under the options menu on my 8330, I open Media Card and sure enough Media Card Support is On, Mass Storage Support is On, and Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode is On (I've tried when I switch to Prompt, but that did not work either).I've removed the media card, reinserted it, reformatted it, made sure it was recognized by my device (it is), so obviously the problem is with the Desktop Manager. With previous versions, I had no problems with Media Sync, only with the new DM version. The DM will recognize my device when plugged in via USB and I can sync my Organizer with no issues. What else can I try to get my DM - Media Sync to work with my 8330?
I just got my Blackberry and I am having trouble with the Mass Storage. The Media Sync will not recognize the memory card at all. Win 7 does not recognize the card when I first plugged in my phone by USB cable the install driver fails. This failing has happened on 3 computer 2 win 7 and one XP.
I have done the normal things like battery pulls and deleting the driver and letting it reinstall reboots and reinstall programs. I also have the most current programs off the website.I also have tried putting the SD card in the slot on my laptop (3 different cards in an adapter) and none are able to transfer files without lagging into never never land.Everything else seems to work just fine. But I would like to be able to transfer photos and music and at this rate I can't transfer them at all.
I have Storm (9500) and I've been trying for a few hours to transfer photos from my media card to my PC. Every time I connect to Media Sync with my Storm, I receive a messages saying my device is not recognised and to make sure the card is inserted correctly etc. here is what I have done and I still receive the same message -
Taken out the media card and reinserted it Taken out the battery and reinserted it turned all the settings in (Options Memory) to on Auto Enable Mass Sttorage Mode when Connected is set to Yes Tried connecting to all USB ports on the PC ( I have 4) PC OS is Windows 7 I've checked for all possible updates on BlackBerry Software (Device and Desktop and Media Sync) I have a completely updates Storm in terms of Software.
I just got the Curve 9300. I can't seem to sync the contacts and calendar with my Mac's BB Desktop Manager. It shows the message, "... turn off wireless synchronization by opening Address Book on the device... etc." There isn't such an option available.
how to sync all my contacts, messages and pictures from my Nokia Ovi Suite to my Blackberry curve 9300. If this isnt possible, is there a way i can export it using another format?
Im trying to sync my phone with outlook 2003 but the sync calender option is greyed out. i checked the settings and i got sync with outlook selected.i also keep getting errors when trying to sync my contactsi didnt write down the error code but ill try again tomorrow and write it down.

Here is what I would like to do and did in the past with Media player and my HTC Touch Pro 2 - I created an auto playlist that selects songs that have NOT been listened to, a playcount less than one. (it doesn't show up in the desktop manager for media sync) I would like to be able to listen to stuff (causing a play count of one on the phone), and then when I re-connect to the computer have media player remove what has a play count of more than zero. This had some success with my HTC Touch Pro 2. It appears to NOT work on my 8530, it looks like NOTHING gets removed from the phone and there is no "auto" about it. The memory card is full, I listened to songs, re-connected to the computer and it appears that media player sees that the card is full and does nothing.I have had my 8530 1 DAY and have gotten many answers here from previous threads.
