My network (O2) say I can update my Bold 9700.
Because I use a Mac I plug it into the desktop software and it should offer me the chance to update to version 6. It doesn't. Using BB5 1022 at the moment.
I just got my blackberry a few weeks ago, and it was working perfect up until I downloaded BlackBerry Desktop Manager, plugged my handset in and updated it.... It operates much slower. There's a good 5-15 second delay when trying to access the menu, and it will freeze while I'm trying to answer incoming calls. Also my alarm clock doesn't work anymore. There's no sound coming out when it goes off, the volume is set to high, but it will still ring when someone calls me. It was working prior to the update, and I didn't change any settings after. Is there a way to roll back the update. I thought updates were supposed to fix problems and issues, not create them.
ps it is a BlackBerry 9000 carried by Rogers, O/S version 4.6.0.303

My girlfriend left me and moved to Australia but she still likes the Bold 9900 that I bought her. It was on Rogers and worked great. Before she left, we had Rogers unlock it. She now has an account with Telstra in Brisbane. She has a new Telstra SIM installed and BBM and data work fine but not voice calls apparently. So far Telstra seems unable to help. Does anyone have an idea of why this issue would be present? Are there some advanced settings that need to be adjusted to provision on Telstra that are different than Rogers? Just to be clear, the phone is not roaming from Rogers to Telstra,it is unlocked and set-up on a Telstra account.

It also says that I can not unplug it mid instal or my phone will become unusable. I am truly stuck here and do not know what to do. I need to unplug my phone. I have set all the same securities as before (Options/Password/Enable) however when I push the "Lock" button on the top of the device it only locks they keypad. If I push it again it simply unlocks the device, it does not prompt for a password. I have to wait for the device to reach it's security time out before there is a password prompt to unlock.

Previously, If i were to click the lock button at the top left, the phone would lock and would display my user information which I created. The top right button (mute key) would thus put the phone into standby mode. Now, when I click the top left (lock) button, the phone goes into standby, and when I click the top right (mute) button, nothing happens. I loved having my user information displayed when the phone was not in use. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can get around it? View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to update the software on my Blackberry Bold to OS 5, using the Blackberry Desktop software on Mac OS 10.5. However, each time I try and do the update I am told there is not enough free space on the phone. I have done the soft reboot and now have around 28 MB of free memory. The Blackberry Desktop software tells me I need 22 MB to install the updates. I have three email accounts set up to store messages for thirty days, and very few applications (Facebook, Google Maps etc).The applications I have on my phone do not add up to 22 MB, so even deleting all of them would not create the free space needed, and I don't think all the stored e-mails should take up too much space (unless attachments are stored on the phone memory as well - can someone confirm whether they are?)

I went into start-up and retyped passwords and it then came up with "device change failed" I tried to do the battery out trick which did not work, so thought I'd delete the account and start again. As soon as i go into email option on start-up it says "device change failed" then when I try and add my email back, it says "sorry unable to continue your session. log in again" It then takes me back to the main set up menu.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to update the IMAP password on a 9700 Bold, a process I've done numerous times in the recent past. However, on this particular device, I cannot even get to the menu for email accounts. Every attempt results in the following ianane OS message; "Your device had a problem connecting to the server." I'm then required to either try again (a never ending loop) or cancel.
I suspect this has something to do with my provider (AT&T) because I had similar symptoms on another device (same model, w/o enterprise security policies). I was able to fix it on the other device by deleting the IMAP Service Books and then doing a hard reset. It doesn't work for the problem BB.
Desktop mgr 5.0.1.37.When I connect (via USB) the connection appears to be recognised - clock appears on BB and PC beeps. After a few minutes PC & BB icons appear on BB screen but no interconnecting arrows. When I try to sync there is no device and PIN number showing on Device Mgr so it doesn't sync. Then the Desktop Mgr greys out and appears to freeze - I then have to disconnect the BB to unfreeze.
Device manager shows two RIM virtual serial ports v2 Com 3 & Com 4. If I try to update the drivers it says most up to date are loaded although the drivers are dated 24 Nov 2008 and are version 2.2.0.3 and appear to be called RimSerial_AMD64.sys (I'm using Intel i7 processor).
Devices & Printers screen shows a RIM Composite Device icon.
Windows in Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading the software on my BB, the SMS & MMS took all of my messages and put them into one long conversation that I can't delete.All new text messages appear in that conversation, and I can't delete them either. The title of the conversation is the name of sender of the first message, and it names all new messages as that person, even if it isn't them.
Also the graphics keep glitching when I scroll through the opened conversation. And sometimes the enter button won't even work to allow me to send sms in reply.I don't text all that often, but my coworkers want to contact me via sms, and this is just driving me insane.
