I've accepted the fact that after the latest update the keylock button does not lock password enabled. But WTF happened to the silent mode? The button is not working at all :S is it to do with my phone or has the latest update cancelled that as well?

I've just upgraded my Blackberry 9700 to firmware 5.0.0.593. I noticed the Auto Standby 2.4.1 utility that locks the keyboard after 30 seconds doesn't function anymore. An automatic keyboard lock is a very basic functionality for every phone and it would be good if it can be reinstated in a future firmware release. I'm now using Ultimate Lock but this can't be activated by the top-left lock button. I'm also a fan of the Bedside mode as it prevents the LED from blinking at night and switches profiles automatically when you put it in the charging pod. Is there a way to prevent the clock from being displayed while the phone is charging in bedside mode? I've already set "Dim Screen" to Yes but it still lights up the room.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a BB Bold 9700 and after I did a software upgrade ( to v5.0.0.743) my lock feature will not work. Previously, If i were to click the lock button at the top left, the phone would lock and would display my user information which I created. The top right button (mute key) would thus put the phone into standby mode. Now, when I click the top left (lock) button, the phone goes into standby, and when I click the top right (mute) button, nothing happens. I loved having my user information displayed when the phone was not in use. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can get around it? I tried turning on the password (which I do not like using) and turning it off again as well as doing a battery pull.
View 10 Replies View RelatedIf like me you cant unlock your Bold after the latest update - what they haven't told us that you can now lock and unlock the bold by pressing the top left of the phone, this toggles the button lock on and off - no idea how you lock the phone with your own numbers now, so I cant see how this is an improvement at all, seems like asecurity flaw to me! Nice if they told us what the upgrades would do!

View 12 Replies View RelatedDespite putting the very latest firmware on my 9700, the email Settings Application ( in Setup Folder - Email settings) still takes me to a browser based setup on the BIS . my old 8900 and my work 9700 has an application type interface.. Why is this a problem ? Because it wont let me setup gmail Contact sync .. Keeps giving me a message "To start xxxxxxxx@gmail.com contacts synchronization with your BlackBerry® device, complete the security activation on your device:
1. In the Setup folder, log in to the Email Settings application.
2. After you log in, the security activation starts. When security activation is complete, wireless synchronization of your contacts with your device automatically begins."
This does not work and I'm guessing because i dont have the latest email settings on the device.. I have tried re-installing firmware , wipes etc..
When I press the LOCK button on the top left of the phone, the phone locks (as expected). When I press the button again to unlock, nothing happens it's as if the button is not working. When I press the green 'Make Call' button I get the following message: 'Keypad is locked. Press the Lock button to unlock'. When I press the lock button (top left), nothing happens. The only way out of this is to take the battery out and re-boot.
This is getting quite annoying, as I now do not want to lock the phone.

The film on my scroll button has peeled off partially - I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it not working properly. The scroll button does respond to my touch, but barely. It responds much better if I have a napkin or a piece of material over my finger. What could the issue be?

I know I can lock it via the bb key but that's tidious. Anyone else experiencing this or annoyed with it?
View 7 Replies View RelatedToday I was trying to lock my phone having installed the new OS (5.0.0.593) and when I press my functioning lock button (i.e. not physically broken) it puts the phone in standby, not locking it. I have a password and if I lock my phone that screen usually comes up. Whats the point if it doesn't lock? I've pressed the standby key and that doesn't lock it either. In a moment of desperation i assigned the left convenience key as a lock button, but I would love to have it at the top as normal.

T mobile told me that they could not repair the old one and therefore it was replaced with a new one - the keyboard and lock button has now stopped working on this some of the time meaning it can't be used as I cannot unlock it. Despite the fact that it was only brand new in January as the contract is over 2 years now they say there is no warranty on it but speak to Blackberry can't find any other way of doing this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI did an OS update from my computer and when that didn't work pushed a complete wipe and reinstall with JL_Cmder. That sorted out the WSOD issues however the trackpad will now only work as a push button and not to scroll. I sent it off to be looked at by my carrier and they said water damage but I'm 100% certain it's not having looked at the parts myself as well as having been ridiculously careful with it: basically just think they are trying to avoid a replace on warranty!

The on screen message says "loading system software". I have set all the same securities as before (Options/Password/Enable) however when I push the "Lock" button on the top of the device it only locks they keypad. If I push it again it simply unlocks the device, it does not prompt for a password. I have to wait for the device to reach it's security time out before there is a password prompt to unlock.

However, I noticed that I am unable to listen to music, I can't hear my phone ringing, The receiver of my calls cannot hear my voice (low sound), No sound on notifications, no sound for the alarm and slower wifi connection. I can only obtain sounds if I connect to an earset. For your information, volumes settings were checked and found to be set at almost 80% max level. Is there a change in the sound settings?
My Droid 4 was working fine until I updated it with the latest firmware from Verizon/Motorola. Now Gmail doesn't work. I've been to the VZ store and they did a complete reset and still no Gmail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI got a new Elm (T-Mobile Germany branded) some days ago and after trying all functions (no problems found), I had it updated to the latest firmware R7CA061 with SEUS. (I've found some threads concerning Elm and GPS-problems in this forum, but they weren't connected to R7CA061). After the update, GPS does not work properly any more, or in other words: it does not really work at all! Neither Assisted GPS (I only tried A-GPS using WIFI) nor unassisted GPS does work. I do not get a lock on my location with Google Maps, also after waiting for more than 10 minutes.
My GPS-position is "jumping around" on the map about one kilometer around my actual position. It's completely inaccurate! I have the feeling that it's even getting worse after some minutes. I also tried the GPS test in the service menu: doesn't work! Switched GPS off and on again: doesn't work! Tried AGPS and GPS: doesn't work! Completely shut down and switch the Elm on again: doesn't work. After reinstalling the latest firmare using SEUS once again - GPS works (assisted and unassisted) and also the GPS test from the service menu works properly. But then, after some minutes, GPS seems to fade away again somehow.
I have a Rogers-branded Lumia 1020 (RM-877_nam_canada_234) pentaband, unlocked and running on Wind Mobile (an AWS 3G carrier). Everything works great. I just got it, SIM-unlocked it, and started updating... the most recent update was to OS version 8.0.10521.155.

I cannot find the BB App World icon. I think it disappeared after I downloaded the latest version. I have deleted and re-downloaded. I have looked in every folder. I have downloaded and replaced the existing version. I have re-booted by taking the battery out, etc. The software is in my applications. I have gone through every folder clicking on show all also.
