View 1 RepliesI've been reading some posts here and am curious, some people are mentioning functions my BB doesn't have and I'm wondering why...I connected my BB to the desktop manager and clicked update, according to the DM the latest version is 4.6.0.303 which I have installed. Can anyone confirm this is in fact the most up to date version?
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe title says it all - I have a Bold with the oh-so-common broken mute key and I know that the latest 5.0 builds modified the lock/standby behavior. What is the latest build I can use?I can theoretically just use the warranty to get another refurb, but this is 9000 #2 to lose the standby button after 3 months, so I'd rather just hop on Craigslist and buy a 9700, then sell this 9000...
Also, has ANYONE been able to successfully use Blackberry AIM Recently? I seem to always have to choose "Refresh List" to get my messages - I've resent service books and even wiped my phone and reinstalled AT&T .303. I've tried the old 2.1 version that's available on here somewhere (which used to work well) as well as the latest 2.5.32 (which I don't really like anyway because of the 2-line contact list).
My friend has a 9000, now hes very Tech(not even a computer, no judging) at all so when he has a problem with his phone he hollas at me. Now I've been occasionally upgrading his phone to latest leaks and hybrids, now the last hybrid I put on his phone was a 5.0.0.4xx hybrid, which was a while ago,he calls the other day to tell me that his phone is randomly dropping calls and that battery is getting hotter then usual. Now he took it to somebody to get it looked at(not his carrier) and they told him that the hardware is fine and that it might be the software. He calls me and asks me if I could upgrade( I upgrade to the latest leak for 9000) his phone to see if that fixes it.That was yesterday, hes calling again to day and saying that he still has the same problem, dropping calls like crazy, and battery is getting real hot. So now I'm coming to the ppl
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am on Orange UK and unable to get UMA calling. This feature is a must as I'm sure you have all read many times before.
I noticed a new software on the Blackberry website
BlackBerry Handheld Software v7.0.0.2416 (All Languages) Package Version: 7.0.0.2416Consisting of:Applications: 7.0.0.590Software Platform: 5.0.0.739File name: 9900jAllLang_PBr7.0.0_rel2416_PL5.0.0.739_A7.0.0.590_Orange_UK.exeFile size: 242.05MBNote: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.
When I download and install this file (240mb), and try to update my device it says there is no update available. Can anybody shed any light as to how I apply this Package Version as I am currently on 7.0.0.2406, or can anybody confirm whether UMA is actually included within the package?
"UMA (signal boost) issuedue to the newer spec of the 9900 and 9860 Blackberry Devices, they do not currently support UMA. UMA will be available for these devices in Early 2012" [URL]
If like me you cant unlock your Bold after the latest update - what they haven't told us that you can now lock and unlock the bold by pressing the top left of the phone, this toggles the button lock on and off - no idea how you lock the phone with your own numbers now, so I cant see how this is an improvement at all, seems like asecurity flaw to me! Nice if they told us what the upgrades would do!

View 4 Replies View RelatedOnly recently my telco releases OS5 for BOLD 9000. Initially I downloaded it and tried to install but it says that there is insufficient space, at that point of time i still keep my fav theme ans stuff which free apps space is around 20mb, and the installation still says that I have insufficient space until I totally wipe the whole thing clean to its original factory status BUT it still says insufficient space for update. Do I have to delete the system software of 4.6 before I need to have the "space" required? (I have currently 50mb of free apps space isn't it enough?)
Please help as the previous update from earlier version to version 4.6 was just few clicks away from desktop manager and things are done and for this 4.6 to 5 update takes me 1 whole day, loosing all my setting and data (cleaned EVERYTHING that I can think of and read all the thread in CB still I can't update to OS 5) Its a Real waste of time and pain from head to toe. I have 50mb of free Application storage space and yet it still needs 7mb of space for the update. I'm thinking of sledge hammering my Bold a couple of time through the process of deleting and restarting.
Signed up to the forum just for help resolving this issue. I'm currently running OS4.6, trying to update to OS5. I know that the 9000 application memory is SO limited that one has to remove all applications before attempting the update.
So here I am, a completely blank BB Bold, no applications, photos, texts, contacts, etc. I still receive the error message on BB DTM that says I need to remove another 3mb of data before I can continue with the update - but there is literally nothing else I can remove. I'm running DTM on a Mac - I hear that may be cause for some problems as well?
update my BB9000 software to V5.0. Whenever i try to update, it would prompt that there is no available update.the current version of my BB is v4.6.0.294 platform 4.0.0.230?
View 1 Replies View RelatedToday I attempted to upgrade to the new 5.0 OS via Desktop Manager. The backup was completed and software installed. The process stalled on the reboot portion. My phone turned on, and I saw the blackberry screen with the loading bar below. The loading bar filled up and then my usual AT&T World Phone orange screen came up (which usually lasts for about 5 seconds before the home screen comes up). However, the orange screen lasted over an hour. Since the software was already installed I did a battery pull. The phone started up to the same AT&T screen and stops. The backlight still dims as usual, and comes back up on a button push but its stuck there with no home screen, now for another 3 hrs. It won't allow me to try to wipe or reinstall the OS because the phone has to be started to do so, and it says it can't connect to the phone (but it does recognize my device when its plugged into the computer). I have searched the forums for similar problems but haven't found any others with my problem.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI just got my blackberry a few weeks ago, and it was working perfect up until I downloaded BlackBerry Desktop Manager, plugged my handset in and updated it.... It operates much slower. There's a good 5-15 second delay when trying to access the menu, and it will freeze while I'm trying to answer incoming calls. Also my alarm clock doesn't work anymore. There's no sound coming out when it goes off, the volume is set to high, but it will still ring when someone calls me. It was working prior to the update, and I didn't change any settings after. Is there a way to roll back the update. I thought updates were supposed to fix problems and issues, not create them.
ps it is a BlackBerry 9000 carried by Rogers, O/S version 4.6.0.303
Every time I run an update it disables my texting abilities. I have called my carrier, who in turn gives me over to there blackberry techs who cant figure the problem out. Every time this happens they have to do something on there end to get my text messaging going again. I KNOW this is not the answer.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhy can't RIM develop a Bold 9xxx with the body of the Bold 9000 with larger memory, Trackpad, better camera? They've done it with the Tour and Curve. Plus they've got all the parts available already, just need a little engineering to fit the trackpad and everything else. C'mon RIM. We know you can do it. I'm sure you'd sell millions of them.
View 14 Replies View RelatedQuick question. I am starting a new Job and they are getting me a superbasic Perl. I need this for work and so I will be forking some dough out of my pocket to get one of the two following phones: Bold 9000 (I'll pay 100$ Canadian, not Us) Curve 8530 (pay 24.99$ Canadian). I am very used to the Iphone and HTC Touch Pro 2 (not trying to start a flaming/argument/anything else , its just what i'm used to). I am very used to browsing with the other phones and I have heard that BB phones are not up to par, so my expectations will be low. Out of the two phones however, does one perform better than the other (Curve 8530 vs Bold 9000)? Out of the two phones, which one do you recommend overall. I have read that the Bold 9000 even though it is older, it still outperforms the 8530...
View 5 Replies View RelatedI dropped my BlackBerry Bold 9000 on the weekend and damaged the LCD screen. The device still works, but two thirds of the LCD is now white and there's what looks like an inkblot on the left side of the screen. I'd like to try to fix it, but don't really want to shell out a lot of $ to do so --- I'm a month away from upgrading.Does anyone have any suggestions, or perhaps a dead BlackBerry with a working screen that you're willing to part with? A DIY repair -- this is out of warranty anyway -- looks straightforward, but I'm not sure I want to spend the $100 or so for a new OEM part to replace the LCD screen.
