My friend has a 9000, now hes very Tech(not even a computer, no judging) at all so when he has a problem with his phone he hollas at me. Now I've been occasionally upgrading his phone to latest leaks and hybrids, now the last hybrid I put on his phone was a 5.0.0.4xx hybrid, which was a while ago,he calls the other day to tell me that his phone is randomly dropping calls and that battery is getting hotter then usual. Now he took it to somebody to get it looked at(not his carrier) and they told him that the hardware is fine and that it might be the software. He calls me and asks me if I could upgrade( I upgrade to the latest leak for 9000) his phone to see if that fixes it.That was yesterday, hes calling again to day and saying that he still has the same problem, dropping calls like crazy, and battery is getting real hot. My email icon (the one associated with an email account added via Blackberry Internet Service) has disappeared after upgrading the Blackberry Device Software via Blackberry Desktop.At the same time after the upgrade Email Setup does no work. Clicking on the setup icon -> email gets the clock timer for 1 second and then nothing.I've now downgraded back to device operating system 6.0 bundle 905 which has made the email setup icon workagain but no email icon has returned.I've requested the service books which have been successful, but no icon. I've removed and reinserted the battery.I can read messages from the general message icon which shows email is getting to the device but I'd prefer the original functionality of a seperate email icon per account appearing in the All Icons section.I think 6.0 bundle 2647 seems a liitle flaxy or something got corrupted at upgrade.
I've been reading some posts here and am curious, some people are mentioning functions my BB doesn't have and I'm wondering why...I connected my BB to the desktop manager and clicked update, according to the DM the latest version is 4.6.0.303 which I have installed.Can anyone confirm this is in fact the most up to date version?
After upgrading my 5800XM to v40 and upgrading to the latest PC suite and software updater versions on my PC, my phone no longer connects with the computer with the error message "cannot authenticate phone" with bluetooth. If I try USB connection, the OS crashes while trying to install phone software (windows 7 pro, Dell Inspiron 6400). I have uninstalled and re-installed all nokia software on the PC and still got the same results. Even without PC suite, the phone does not connect through the PC bluetooth anymore.
The title says it all - I have a Bold with the oh-so-common broken mute key and I know that the latest 5.0 builds modified the lock/standby behavior. What is the latest build I can use?I can theoretically just use the warranty to get another refurb, but this is 9000 #2 to lose the standby button after 3 months, so I'd rather just hop on Craigslist and buy a 9700, then sell this 9000...
Also, has ANYONE been able to successfully use Blackberry AIM Recently? I seem to always have to choose "Refresh List" to get my messages - I've resent service books and even wiped my phone and reinstalled AT&T .303. I've tried the old 2.1 version that's available on here somewhere (which used to work well) as well as the latest 2.5.32 (which I don't really like anyway because of the 2-line contact list).
i got the os 6.0.0.448 install on my 9700 a couple of months now. since then ive been experiencing alot of memort leaks....my phone goes from 27.1MB-6.2MB in less than 4 hours! its so frustrating when i have to constantly keep rebooting my phone...i dont have much apps install either! i tried upgrading.. i download the os that i wanted followed the instructions and when i click finish for the update to start, i get a command saying that my os was successfully updated but its not...still the same.

Issue: After upgrading to version 4.6.0.282 the ring tone volume is very low, even when the profile setting has the tone set to High I often miss the call, I have tried turning on "Audio Boost" with no change, tried a hard re-boot, no change. Volume of calls are fine, it's the ring tones, I have the same ring tone in use as before the O/S upgrade so this hasn't changed, no other (new) apps have been installed, just the O/S upgraded. I can't find any sort of master volume control setting in any of the forums is there such a setting, how do I get the volumes back to normal?
I am right now connected my phone with my laptop and the msg appears on screen to upgrade the software I had putted my phone on upgrading its processing but bymistake I forget to remove my sim card from the phone so between this process if call comes then what I will do?
I'm the even more plus plan which allows me to split my phone costs up into 20 months, I'm on payment 8 of 20. If I want to upgrade my phone, will I just continue to pay this off?
Just upgraded from bold 9000 to 9700. I upgraded my OS to version .743. After that, I stopped getting visual voice mail notifications. The message is there when I dial "1", but doesn't show up at all under the VVM menu, nor do I get the visual indication(s). It did work on the AT&T OS out of the box. Second issue with this O.S.- phone does not lock when it is in the holster. I have to believe both these issues are with the .743 version of the OS, but I may be missing something. I've read others with the VVM problem, not none of the threads seem to offer a solution except to say that AT&T WAS having issues with this back in November.
I bought a used Bold off of Craigslist, the phone's great with no issues whatsoever. Apparently the guy who had it, had it locked to a BES and now I cannot disable my password protection settings. I want to keep it secure but it locks after 5 minutes and is very aggrevating to keep unlocking it.
I had to have my Bold replaced under warranty. I transferred the data with Desktop Manager but is there any way to get the programs, themes and sounds that are set up for each email account to transfer? Or will I have to re-download and reinstall the programs and set the sounds for each account?
My BBBold9000 has locked up on me a few times when on the web and I have been unable to get it to stop showing a 'busy icon' or shut down. Why would it do this and how do I shut it down if it happens again?
Previously I saved my 800++contacts to my sim card using a Sony ericsson phones. Currently I have a new bold 9000, I tried to copy my sim card contact to the address book on bold. It came out to be only 200+ contact were shown on my bold, the rest of the 600+ contact was not copy to it. Can anyone please help me out by how to completely transfer all my contacts from my sim to my bold.

When I hook up my phone to my computer the software won't recognize my phone. my other blackberry works fine with the software so I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what to do. I downloaded the latest desktop software and I'm still having the same issue. Has anyone else had that same problem. If so how did u fix it?
Im desperately need your help over this matter, i have sent to couples of repair shop, but still, they cant rectify my bb bold problem.My bb wont charge as the result, it wont open and load to the homepage. even if it did, it will repeatedly load the OS.Can someone give me some leads on this problem? something to do with technical errors. Btw, my battery is fine, tried switching it with my friend's bold, and it works. .so no problem with the battery. .
Background:Bought a bold 9000 the day it was released in Canada. Worked perfectly, maybe dropped it a few times but everything was working. Recently I upgraded to the 9700 and sent my brother my 9000.He had it for a week with Telus (originally on Rogers, and unlocked). He then dropped it off his bed onto a hardwood floor (not very high). Since then it would not turn on, no red LED or anything.I went over all the common steps to getting it working: -Battery pull -Take out Sim Card, and battery -Try connecting to wall charger or pc with and without battery -Basically everything listed in other posts with the same problem So the above steps (search for details on them) work for some people, and not for others.So it was dead, he mailed it back to me to try and fix. I tried all the common solutions again with no luck.Then I decided to try something else.How I fixed it:You know when your computer is screwed up, and someone suggests to reset the bios settings? All computers have a little backup battery to keep your settings, and keep the clock running on your computer. So even when it is unplugged from the wall and you turn it back on the time is right.Well the 9000 has a similar battery, I am not 100% sure what it is used for but removing it completely solved my problem. I know it is used to keep the time when the main battery is removed - what else i'm not sure.. Mine seems to work fine with it removed. It does not reset any other data it seems, all contacts, email themes and everything are still intact.Once this battery was removed, I put the battery back in and everything works perfectly now! The only issue I have noticed is that the time does not advance once the battery is removed.. Since my brother always has his phone on, and it updates the time from the network there is no big problem with this. -Again, the time works perfectly as long as the main battery is in.Here are the steps, you don't even need to dissassemble the blackberry:
1 - Remove the black plastic sticker on the back 2 - using a small screwdriver (or better yet, soldering iron) remove the small circular battery from the PCB. 3 - put battery back in and pray

No Red light Nothing. When I read another post on the fourm they indicated to take the battery out for 8 hours and replace it I did and boom he ed light appeared and I tried to quickly connect to desktop manager and download 4.6 and midway through the bold went dead again no red light nothing. After multiple attempts it came on again but for only 5 min and went out. I have critical data I need to recover. Any suggestions ?
I am using Rogers 4.6.0.303 firmware, and when i charge my phone overnight it only charges until the halfway point. Is this caused by a faulty battery or firmware glitch?? I have no idea why this is happening all of a sudden! I keep my wifi off and keep it on 2g most of the time.
My phone was playing up, mainly the Facebook app. So I deleted the app, then reinstalled it. Next thing I know, all my contacts have been deleted, and I don't know where they have gone! Help!
I was adding a custom ringtone and accidentally edited vibrate and hit replace all.Now it no longer rings on any profile.and yes i did change it so it plays a ringtone again, and nothing.I even restored the profiles to yesterdays backup.and nothing works.
My Bold 9000 will not setup email. The only option showing in setup wizard is to use a work email account with BES which I do not have or want. I want to setup the email to be accessed by WiFi and not the phone. How do you do this? Thank you very much.
My daughter was playing with my phone yesterday and now when I try to dial out it brings me to the screen but I have to hit the number twice before it will actually dial. How can I fix this?

The first time, ATT told me that I needed a new phone. Didn't cost me anything but is a pain in the **bleep** since I have no other phone and I have to walk 4 miles to find a working payphone. Had to do w/o a phone for a week.I have tried removing and reinserting the battery, to no avail.It is now 712 EDT (GMT -5). I will check back later this evening.
a few days ago about my blackberry 9000 that would not turn on or be recognized no matter what i did when connected through usb to the pc, instead it flashed 4 red lights over and over.i drained the battery in my friends husbands bold 9000 till it was fully dead to test out a theory: i popped it in mine and put the blackberry on charge - no lights at all and no lights now (its been charging 10 hours in a wall plug)does a bricked (this is what the shop techie said when taking it to him for a fix and then refused to fix it for me cause its a paperweight) blackberry still charge up normally? mine isnt charging the battery so im wondering if the reason its undetectable by my pc is because the charging ports faulty or is it standard that a bricked blackberry no longer bothers to charge your battery because it wont turn on
