I'm the even more plus plan which allows me to split my phone costs up into 20 months, I'm on payment 8 of 20. If I want to upgrade my phone, will I just continue to pay this off?

I have the 8520, and have no data plan with my carrier in my post payment plan, i thought , since i have wi-fi at home, office and tons of hot spots. I can use my BB to access the web using free wi-fi as i have been doing with my last 4 smartphones.Big mistake. i have been charged 55 us last month, for data transfer use , i ran to my planŽs assistance office ( telcel in Mexico ), and the answer i got was. you have to get a data plan from us to be able to use wi-fi ( obviuosly i stared at her , just nodding my head ).There is no point in having a device that has acces to wi fi networks , if i cant access the wi fi network without you data plan, so i got the lady to bring the tech guy. His response was...naaahhh...it will access the wi fi. but weŽll charge u anyway. you need to disable the network from the phone and only leave the wi fi option on so you can access without any other charge, but this will leave you with no phone connection.
Is this real? did i just spend 399us in a gadget that has wi fi capabilities but will not be able to get on any wi fi connection form home or work, without being charged for data transmission over my cell providers network?cmon this sounds as stupid as it does in my head ? i would be really disapointed if i just left my old Nokia E71 SPhone, for this beautiful BB Curve 8520 THAT DOES NOT CONNECT TO THE WI Fi.
Just upgraded from bold 9000 to 9700. I upgraded my OS to version .743. After that, I stopped getting visual voice mail notifications. The message is there when I dial "1", but doesn't show up at all under the VVM menu, nor do I get the visual indication(s). It did work on the AT&T OS out of the box. Second issue with this O.S.- phone does not lock when it is in the holster. I have to believe both these issues are with the .743 version of the OS, but I may be missing something. I've read others with the VVM problem, not none of the threads seem to offer a solution except to say that AT&T WAS having issues with this back in November.

I've called t-mobile support twice, and they confirmed that I have a data plan and don't know why I am getting this message when I try to access the internet. A colleague had this problem, and it was fixed by "reprovisioning" the blackberry. I had them try this but it did not work. Any idea why this is happening? I have business enterprise server, but it is not set up yet - could that be causing the problem?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have problems with upgrading my BB 9700 to new ver. OS6. I've download fresh DM and new OS .723. I've installed everything, turn off internet connection also turn off mass storage in BB, connect BB to computer and run DM, and nothing happened. DM can't find new OS. Vendor file was deleted before I run DM. So I've tried use app loader but app loader cant see OS too!
When I choose right OS by add app, it gives me that the OS is not compatible to my BB. So I download new one, but the problem still appear. I have problem with upgrade os 5 to 6 too. Wiped BB and system can't find new OS. Fortunately DM find the OS by it self in internet (6...668). I need to upgrade it because I have only 1 language in my phone and no apps. I cant load it by app loader because app loader can see it as right to mu BB.
I just got an used Bold 9700. I haven't gotten a data plan yet, but I will be upgrading to one very soon. Anyways, I was playing around with the GPS with the wifi radio turned off, the BB maps was working properly. Any explanations to this? I thought BB maps has to work with a data plan?

Currently I don't want to sign up for a Data plan. I want to use my Wifi connection in the office or at home in order to get my emails. I don't need push function but I don't want to go through the webpage and log in. I just want to press any button and receive my emails on request.
Is there any way to get my emails? My friend has a iphone and he can choose between manual email receiving with wifi or push with data plan.
Has anyone ordered through the mail before on a family plan? Both my wife and my phones are on my family account. I have a 3GS and she has a 3G. We're both eligible for upgrade pricing with an $18 charge per phone. Can I order both phones online and have them both delivered to me, activate my phone at work and then just set her phone up when we get home that night? Seems like this will all work out fine but I didn't know if I wasn't thinking of something.

Here's my scenario, I upgraded my cell phone last year, and my line in the family plan isn't due for a fully discounted upgrade until next year 02/2011. My mother's line however is eligible for a full discount on the IPhone 4. I want to use her upgrade, but I want the new IPhone on my line without touching or affecting her plan. What would be the best thing for me to do come June 24th? I was thinking about pre-ordering from Apple, but I believe someone said Apple can only upgrade the line eligible for the fully subsidized pricing, and they don't have the ability to switch the phone over.
Pre-ordering from AT&T would be nice, but apparently if you pre-order from them, and pick it up in the store, you won't be getting your phone until the 25th. Would camping out the night before in front of the AT&T store be my best option? Or should I pre-order the phone from AT&T, get it delivered to my house (hopefully on the 24th) and then go into the store that day and have them switch the phone over from her line to my line?
My daughter asked if she can have my 3gs once I get the 4. She already has a phone so I would simply swap sim card, but she will not get / does not have a data plan. Will the 3gs work for phone and texting (family texting plan)?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I popped into a local Radio Shack today and got my name put on a waiting list. the guy says to me that he wants to make sure I know that I will have to change to one of the new data plans when I upgrade. I told him that I was under the impression that existing iphone users who upgrade can keep their unlimited data plan that they already have. He told me when he's been activating them for people, the system has forced him to change their data plans to one of the new ones.Anyone else seen this? I sure as heck don't want to give up my unlimited data plan if I upgrade to the iphone 4.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to help a friend and also satisfy my curiosity. She has a Samsung "Rant" through carrier Sprint. She said that after her phone was turned off for non-payment, she can no longer use the phone. She claims she has been remotely locked out, as if you set a security lock code and forgot it, that kind of locked out. She swears the company locked her out to keep her from getting at her contacts. Is this even possible? I googled and the only thing I can find is blacklisting lock outs using the ESN, which I already realize. But to actually lock the hardware remotely, is another thing. I know they can remotely unlock. What is her best option to recover those important numbers, and do all carriers actively do this sort of thing (if it's even true?)
Using OS6 with Blackberry Bold 9650 on Verizon When I try to purchase an app from App World, I get an error message (11300) that the payment system isn't available and try again later. This has been going on for a while. Is there another issue going on? I have wi-fi connectivity, strong 3G signal, and BB services.

Now I've been occasionally upgrading his phone to latest leaks and hybrids, now the last hybrid I put on his phone was a 5.0.0.4xx hybrid, which was a while ago,he calls the other day to tell me that his phone is randomly dropping calls and that battery is getting hotter then usual. Now he took it to somebody to get it looked at(not his carrier) and they told him that the hardware is fine and that it might be the software. This is the first upgrade I've done on this device which was running .602.Everything was working fine until just after the reboot, at which time I get the AT&T "World Phone" splash screen. It's been sitting there for about 45 minutes now and is not proceeding past this point. BDM still says "Connecting to device (this may take up to 30 minutes)".I am relatively new to the BB world and I thought the upgrade should be a snap.

I would always get at least one day out of my battery in my black 9700. And I was with my white 9700 as well until about 2 weeks ago.I rarely talk on my phone but I am a heavy user with BBM, text and email and a bit with Facebook which I know uses a lot of battery... I have about 90 contacts on BBM and use it constantly everyday -- chatting with 4 to 5 ppl at a time constantly. However, I'm lucky if my battery lasts from 11am until 5pm anymore. I have tried about 3 different batteries and they all have the same issue. I just upgraded my software from .743 to .862 last night.
And I switched over to a brand new OEM battery 2 days ago. I charged my phone overnight and powered it on at 11am and now at 2:14pm I'm sitting at 75% battery life.I don't have many apps on my phone besides Facebook and Weather Eye. The only apps I ever have running everyday are the ones that have to be running constantly (BBM, Phone, Browser, Messages). I rarely even browse the internet and I don't have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi enabled. However, I am always running on 3G.
I have an opportunity to pick up an unlocked BB 9700. I don't plan on getting a data plan since I mainly use the phone for calls and text msg'ing. I'm also surrounded by wifi so I always have internet access... However I was wondering if the GPS program on the Blackberry will work w/o a data plan?
I'm coming from an E71 and the GPS always worked w/o data. It was a tad slower for the satellites to lock onto but it still worked. Will the GPS on the BB 9700 work in a similar fashion w/o a data plan?
After I upgraded my bold 9700 to OS6, I lost my BB maps app. I search for it on my phone and I can see maps in the help section on my phone, but it is no where else!
View 7 Replies View RelatedEvery time Iam on phone it keeps switching between handset and headset auto and very fast so it keeps cutting every second I installed new bbm .65 everythink working fine then I mistakely downloaded .57 cancelled it when I rebooted phone no bbm, so I reinstalled .65 bbm and it was really laggy and slow so I reinstalled it again and now that is happening to my phone?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've just gotten a Bold 9700 and noticed that even though I have the option to sync the profile pictures of my friends with my contacts profiles on the phone, the pictures for my phone contacts remain blank. The Facebook profiles are linked to my contacts and sometimes will show the Facebook profile picture but after a while the picture reverts to a blank icon again. I've also unselected the option to sync and re-enabled the option to update Blackberry contacts with my Facebook contacts to try and force the pictures to update but no success.
I was thinking that it might also be because of a conflict wiyth other apps trying to update the contact pictures seeing as I originally imported all my contatcs from my Gmail account but I am unable to figure out which other apps, if any, are updating contact pics and thereby turn them off.
Blackberry contacts linked to a LinkedIn profile show their LinkedIn profile pics correctly though and other than that I only have BB Messenger, GTalk, Windows Live Messenger and Facebook that are linked to my Blackberry contacts.Any ideas on how I can get my contacts' pictures to sync correctly with Facebook?
This issue has been happning for a while, but for the last week or so it has been happening more frequently. A phone call arrives and sends the phone into a reset, similar to what QuickPull would do. No open apps, no error message, it just resets.I have searched a bit, but have not found anyone posting a similar issue so far. I run the stock T-Mobile OS, and a few extra RIM and 3rd party apps.

Interestingly though, if I delete or read an email on my BB, the action is reciprocated on the web.And finally, if I send myself an email (either from the web or my BB), it appears on the web but not on my BB.

I found this picture of the Tour 2 9650 splitting with the 9700 Bold to show the differences between of the Bold 9650 if it stays the same without changes, this is what the difference would be compared to the Bold 9700.as you can see, the only difference if the Bold 9650 stays the same as we see here when the final release comes, is that the Bold 9650 has a somewhat larger bezel VS the 9700 Bold. Other then that, you can see from the pic, nothing else is different on the face of the phones in looks.just thought it was pretty interesting(left side is the 9650, right side is the 9700.
