Supposedly, I can hook the usb cable in my cpu and the BB will work as a modem in places that I don't have a wireless connection??? The At&t cust service said if I plugged it in the computer would walk me through. No such luck.. Any help for a non techee type user.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have ATT cellular service and I am currently using the Samsung SGH A707 Sync. I plan to tether to my laptop and would like to get the $15(200 Meg) or $25 (2GB) data plan. I have previously used the unlimited data plan and tethered to a LG CU500 about two years ago.I recalled setting up the dialup connection (via Bluetooth) with
username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
password: CINGULAR1
and dialed *99#
Are those parameters the same now if I use the A707 sync? Or did ATT changed those parameters already?I have also noticed that the A707 Sync has a different connections setting than what I used previously on the LG CU500. There are FOUR types of connections setting in the A707 Sync. They seem to have been preset. Here are the connections settings:
1. MEdia Net wap1.X
wap.cingular
Auth Type: Secure
WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
password: ********* (presumably CINGULAR1)
Protocol: WAP
Gateway address: 66.209.11.61
2. MEdia Net wap2.x
wap.cingular
Auth Type: Secure
WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
password: ********* (presumably CINGULAR1)
Protocol: HTTP
Proxy address: wireless.cingular.com:80
3. AT&T MMS
wap.cingular
Auth Type: Secure
WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
password: ********* (presumably CINGULAR1)
Protocol: HTTP
Proxy address: wireless.cingular.com:80
4. AT&T IMS
ims.cingular
Auth Type: Normal
Protocol: HTTP
Proxy address: 0.0.0.0:80
What are the differences between the settings and which of the four would the appropriate connection setting for tethering to the laptop?Lastly, my main task would be somewhat routine (checking email/check ebay item/bank account/paying bill) using the data plan probably around 3 times a day for no more than 5-10 min.
Should I get the $15 or $25 data plan?
I have been watching the price of the lapdock come down to reality and I would like to invest in one. However, I will not buy any of the docks if they require ATT tethering to function.I am hoping that I can use the lapdock via WiFi and I do not want to ante in for ATT tether.

I've called t-mobile support twice, and they confirmed that I have a data plan and don't know why I am getting this message when I try to access the internet. A colleague had this problem, and it was fixed by "reprovisioning" the blackberry. I had them try this but it did not work. Any idea why this is happening? I have business enterprise server, but it is not set up yet - could that be causing the problem?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am new here, so thanks for any help. Great Community. I read already a few posts but couldn't find a solution. I want to check my gmail emails through my Bold 9700. Currently I don't want to sign up for a Data plan. I want to use my Wifi connection in the office or at home in order to get my emails. I don't need push function but I don't want to go through the webpage and log in. I just want to press any button and receive my emails on request.
Is there any way to get my emails? My friend has a iphone and he can choose between manual email receiving with wifi or push with data plan.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm the proud owner of a brand spanking new /white/ iPhone 3GS. I moved to AT&T from VZW and a droid (this phone is MILES ahead of android in terms of OS usability especially since I have a Mac, the syncing is seamless).
I got really lucky and the phone was a 3.1.2 (bought it a few days ago) so I was able to JB (tethered). I started playing around and tried out MyWi for the wifi tethering and it worked awesomely with my MacBook.
Here's my question:
I noticed that under settings>general>network, I have an internet tethering option that uses USB or Bluetooth. Is this a hack that was enabled inadvertently through something I did in the jailbreak process, or is this an AT&T feature that I will be charged extra for using? I'm curious because this seems like a cleaner approach since it's built into the OS.
I have had this irritating problem since I tried "MyWi" on my Iphone. The tethering bar at the top (just below the statusbar) won't go away. Even if I delete the application and restart my Iphone or if I reinstall it and then delete it and restart my Iphone it won't disappear. As soon as I turn my 3G or Wifi on and the phone recon that it has internetconnection there's a bar at the top of my screen saying "tethering" (or in rare occasions "xxxkb/s up xxxkb/s doown"). Sometimes when I turn of 3G and/or my Wifi the bar disapears or if I don't use any internetconnections for a while. I also downloaded ifile and deleted everything under "MyWi" under applications (weird that it was still there even after I deleted it via cydia.) I don't want to reinstall my phone

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a Galaxy S3 on Verizon but finally just couldn't take Verizon anymore so I switched to a Nexus 5 on Aio that runs on the AT&T network. I use to use the tethering on my S3 to do work when I was on-call but that requires me to access a VPN and I did that all the time without out any problems. However, ever since I switched to my Nexus 5 I can't connect to any VPNs. Do I need to do something different?
I've tried using the built-in tethering app and also tried using Fox-Fi (paid version) both do the same thing. Just as a side note Fox-Fi is what I used on the S3 and it worked perfectly.
I have just completed a factory reset of my Samsung Galaxy S6 4G. I still can't connect to the Internet on my laptop via USB tethering. Or if it does connect the speed is ~500 Kbps (before it was between 10 Mbps and 20 Mbps).
View 6 Replies View RelatedA co worker of mine racked up 2 gigs of data 2 months ago and burned through a blistering 8.6 gigs of data this past month. All of this on his 3Gs and none of it done by tethering with a jailbroken iPhone. He "claims" that he has no clue how it happened but I'm guessing he knows. How many video clips of wholesome family entertainment would he have to download to hit that impossible number. I nearly myself when I saw the bill.
