View 9 RepliesI read about apps that allow tethering of other devices without the additional tethering plans... foxfi was one that was suggested... however, I don't think it is working on the S6. Any app that works?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Xperia Z2 and I can't get tethering working, when I turn it on i get a message 'an error occurred during tethering' I can still connect my laptop to the phone's wifi hotspot but only get local access. I am on Vodafone India and they support tethering and my mobile data is switched on. In my phone there is an APN named "euinternet" it is not deleted I have tried several times.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo i recently bought a z5 compact (unlocked) after i finally managed to destroy my z3 compact. My phone will not tether and it's driving me crazy. Every time i try, either the normal wifi hotspot, bluetooth or usb tethering, it says that everything's connected but then says "error occurred during tethering" and won't actually connect.
Troubleshooting: I was using the same virgin mobile sim (post paid, used in the z3 compact and temporary Xperia SP with no issues), and i work at virgin mobile so i am absolutely sure my apn settings are correct and that the setting is on in my account.
I went to Telstra where i bought the phone and they replaced it under warranty - it still doesn't work.
Im currently visiting the us and I'm using a prepaid lyca mobile sim with 10gb including tethering.
How can I the Xperia Z2 use the Internet connection provided by a PC through USB cable? WiFi is not an option, would prefer not to install any apps on the mobile since all which I have found were asking for rooting the device. It's very surprising that it's not in the settings by defualt. It can be easily set on other devices (e.g. HTC), and the regular tethering (using the phone's internet connection for the PC) can be set on the phone as well.

Further I wonder why are the options in Settings on Xperia Z2 so limited? No manipulation for the USB connection, no developer's setting, why?
I am using my set as a modem by tethering to PC through USB cable...now problem is that while set is USB plugged it is charging...so when it is 100% charged can it be overcharged if i keep it plugged for using net...does overcharge effect battery life??

When trying to tether, my computer connects to the phone, but it says 'no internet connection'. I am on the 3 network and use tethering a LOT for work... I have checked all the settings on my phone and changed the APN type from ''default,supl,mms,a-gps' to 'internet+mms' as suggested here: [URL].....

But it made no difference. I dont know what else to try? It seems like there are a few others with the same issue. I am having to take the sim card out and put it in my old phone while at work so I can connect to the internet via tethering...

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just updated my phone's firmware to version 4.1.B. The updating went on well. After updating I turned on my phone and it started optimizing with my apps and that went well too. Then I was browsing through my phone's settings option and went to tethering and wifi hotspot option and turned on the bluetooth tethering. After that my phone rebooted and it keeps on rebooting on itself. It wont connect to my PC. I tried removing the battery but when I turn it on its the same thing.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am facing a problem when trying to use my Phone as a modem (for internet) on PC using USB Tethering Option. The driver cannot be installed properly on windows xp eventhough I followed the procedures as metioned in the link [URL].. find the below snap shot of device manager screen in which you could find the driver is not installed.
Note : I tried using my phone as wireless modem (portable hotspot option) and found its working well.
I've been trying to tether my Sony Erricson Xperia Neo to a laptop pc. Android OS.I first tried USB tethering but my laptop had no internet access, so I instead tried setting up a portable wifi hotspot to see if that would work. My laptop recognised the network I had created and I joined it succesfully, but I had no internet access. (Note: When I used USB tethering another network was recognised by the laptop)
I checked my phone and the 3g icon which shows that mobile internet is enabled (the two little verticle arrows with 3g above them) were not visible, but when I disabled the wi-fi hotspot, the icon appeared again. I'm not sure whether this is normal but could it be that 3g is being disabled with the activation of hotspotting, or is it just hidden automatically when wi-fi hotspotting is disabled? I find sometimes that the 3g icon disapears for no reason in areas I previously have had good signal, and then when I try and connect it takes a few seconds and then the icon appears again and I can connect.
When I turn on portable wifi hotspot. It show this error....

I use USB tethering a lot, and sometimes for very long times. When I disconnect the phone, sometimes, my phone becomes unable to receive calls. And even worse, the caller hears the normal calling sound, but my phone just doesn't do anything. So to the caller it seems that I'm just not answering, although the phone isn't notifying me in any way, during the call or after the call! So there is no way telling how many calls I'm missing..
When I try "reset" the mobile network by going to flight mode and back, the phone completely locks, and I have to remove the battery to reboot the phone. This problem won't go away unless I reboot the phone. This happens awfully often, regardless if I click USB tethering off from the phone first before disconnecting it. The most important function is not working and makes the "phone" useless.
Has anyone had any luck doing this without a tethering plan? I have a brand new Imac with Snow Leopard 10.6 and just picked up the Bold 9700 through At&t.

I'm the proud owner of a brand spanking new /white/ iPhone 3GS. I moved to AT&T from VZW and a droid (this phone is MILES ahead of android in terms of OS usability especially since I have a Mac, the syncing is seamless).
I got really lucky and the phone was a 3.1.2 (bought it a few days ago) so I was able to JB (tethered). I started playing around and tried out MyWi for the wifi tethering and it worked awesomely with my MacBook.
Here's my question:
I noticed that under settings>general>network, I have an internet tethering option that uses USB or Bluetooth. Is this a hack that was enabled inadvertently through something I did in the jailbreak process, or is this an AT&T feature that I will be charged extra for using? I'm curious because this seems like a cleaner approach since it's built into the OS.
I have had this irritating problem since I tried "MyWi" on my Iphone. The tethering bar at the top (just below the statusbar) won't go away. Even if I delete the application and restart my Iphone or if I reinstall it and then delete it and restart my Iphone it won't disappear. As soon as I turn my 3G or Wifi on and the phone recon that it has internetconnection there's a bar at the top of my screen saying "tethering" (or in rare occasions "xxxkb/s up xxxkb/s doown"). Sometimes when I turn of 3G and/or my Wifi the bar disapears or if I don't use any internetconnections for a while. I also downloaded ifile and deleted everything under "MyWi" under applications (weird that it was still there even after I deleted it via cydia.) I don't want to reinstall my phone
