Xperia Pro/Neo/V/L :: Usb Tethering Is Not Working With Any Os?
May 18, 2012
After updating my neo v phone to ICS,usb tethering is not working with any os. the phone is connected without any issue, but internet is not working on PC. I tried the wifi hotspot also, but that also doesn't work for me.
I am facing a problem when trying to use my Phone as a modem (for internet) on PC using USB Tethering Option. The driver cannot be installed properly on windows xp eventhough I followed the procedures as metioned in the link [URL].. find the below snap shot of device manager screen in which you could find the driver is not installed.
Note : I tried using my phone as wireless modem (portable hotspot option) and found its working well.
I have a 9700, originally from wind, unlocked, now on mobilicity. I've setup tethering through the BB management software, everything appears to connect. However, when I try to access any websites, I'm redirected to a 'pay for another account' style webpage. From there I can click 'return home' which brings me to mobilicity's mobile web home page but if I click anywhere there, it brings me back to the 'pay for another account' page. I have a working data plan and have checked with mobilicity and they say there's nothing extra I would have to pay for. I think it may have to do with the phone coming from another network or being unlocked.
Since last week my iMac can't recognize my iPhone in Network Preferences, when I plug my iPhone in my macbook the problem is gone, so I tried to reset Network Preferences in iMac and nothing changed I also tried coping Network Preferences from my macbook -since tethering is working fine there- and nothing changed.
Info: iPhone 3GS, iOS 5.1, OS X 10.7.3, iMac i5 Mid 2011
So I am trying to USB tether right? but, for some reason it won't even setup a connection and when I enabled Dedug mode for USB that seemed to get it working. Honestly I don't want to do it that way. I pay for my tethering plan unlike most people on here with T-Mobile.
What I am trying to say is that out the box USB tethering does not work.
Now with Debug enabled I can do it, but when debug is enabled my damn Win 8.1 64 bit flips out! Seriously I don't know what the hell this damn phone is doing to my computer but it forces my CPU to go up to 100% usage!!
I read about apps that allow tethering of other devices without the additional tethering plans... foxfi was one that was suggested... however, I don't think it is working on the S6. Any app that works?
I bought a new work computer and tried using USB tethering with my Atrix. It installed the NDIS adapter but I was getting the infamous 169.x.x.x address. I decided to try it later since I was in a hurry. Now, the phone will not start USB tethering at all. I plug it in and the USB Tethering check box has a light green checkbox like it's turning on, but never changes. I have rebooted and pulled the battery. No change. What's strange is that I plug the USB in and when I go to the tethering screen the USB checkbox is already checked automatically. I seem to remember having to enable it manually before all this started.
Yesterday, I updated the iPhone configuration utility to v 3.5 and I was using the internet via iPhone USB tethering, as soon as the update finished, my iPhone USB tethering stopped working and its not working any more. I am on OS X Lion 10.7.3 using iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1. Now I figured out that running the OS in 32 bit lets me do USB tethering, but in 64 bit the iPhone USB Network Service shows on the right:
"Either the cable for iPhone USB is not plugged in or the device is not responding."
I've tried everything with keeping iTunes running, reinstalling iTunes, re-installing iPhone configuration Utility, but nothing seems to work! I guess the main culprit here is the new iPhone Configuration Utility v 3.5. It is so annoying to see such things breaking existing functionality. It has nothing to do with my Phone, because it works on my other Macbook Pro which I did not update and on my friends Snow Leopard.
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3), iPhone 4S v 5.1
my usb tethering stopped working so I thought I'd delete the profile but now cannot get it back. Can anyone tell me how to do so? Wifi and bluetooth tethering still work but usb isnt on my network list.
After of getting de ICS update on my Xperia Pro MK16a, I can´t use the Tethering functions on my notebook. I've tried using USB Tethering and Wifi Zone, but my notebook shows "no internet acces". The acces point is configured correctly, I can use the phone browser y access Google Play and other apps (facebook, twitter) without problems.
I have Xperia Z2 and I can't get tethering working, when I turn it on i get a message 'an error occurred during tethering' I can still connect my laptop to the phone's wifi hotspot but only get local access. I am on Vodafone India and they support tethering and my mobile data is switched on. In my phone there is an APN named "euinternet" it is not deleted I have tried several times.
So i recently bought a z5 compact (unlocked) after i finally managed to destroy my z3 compact. My phone will not tether and it's driving me crazy. Every time i try, either the normal wifi hotspot, bluetooth or usb tethering, it says that everything's connected but then says "error occurred during tethering" and won't actually connect.
Troubleshooting: I was using the same virgin mobile sim (post paid, used in the z3 compact and temporary Xperia SP with no issues), and i work at virgin mobile so i am absolutely sure my apn settings are correct and that the setting is on in my account.
I went to Telstra where i bought the phone and they replaced it under warranty - it still doesn't work.
Im currently visiting the us and I'm using a prepaid lyca mobile sim with 10gb including tethering.
How can I the Xperia Z2 use the Internet connection provided by a PC through USB cable? WiFi is not an option, would prefer not to install any apps on the mobile since all which I have found were asking for rooting the device. It's very surprising that it's not in the settings by defualt. It can be easily set on other devices (e.g. HTC), and the regular tethering (using the phone's internet connection for the PC) can be set on the phone as well. Â Further I wonder why are the options in Settings on Xperia Z2 so limited? No manipulation for the USB connection, no developer's setting, why?
I am using my set as a modem by tethering to PC through USB cable...now problem is that while set is USB plugged it is charging...so when it is 100% charged can it be overcharged if i keep it plugged for using net...does overcharge effect battery life??
I am trying to use my phone as a wifi hotspot but when I go into 'settings' then 'wireless and network' I have no option for tething adn portable hotspot. I have tried downloading the most up to date software and have even tried re-enstalling the phone as it said the software is all up to date.
I bought a z2 a few weeks ago and really liked it, everything worked well, including tethering... but since the latest android update, the tethering has stopped working.  When trying to tether, my computer connects to the phone, but it says 'no internet connection'. I am on the 3 network and use tethering a LOT for work... I have checked all the settings on my phone and changed the APN type from ''default,supl,mms,a-gps' to 'internet+mms' as suggested here: [URL].....  But it made no difference. I dont know what else to try? It seems like there are a few others with the same issue. I am having to take the sim card out and put it in my old phone while at work so I can connect to the internet via tethering...
I have just updated my phone's firmware to version 4.1.B. The updating went on well. After updating I turned on my phone and it started optimizing with my apps and that went well too. Then I was browsing through my phone's settings option and went to tethering and wifi hotspot option and turned on the bluetooth tethering. After that my phone rebooted and it keeps on rebooting on itself. It wont connect to my PC. I tried removing the battery but when I turn it on its the same thing.
I got ICS update to my Xperia Mini 2days back. I found the USB tethering is not working when i connect it with my laptop. I use my phone to browse internet me to fix it. BTW portable WiFi hotspot is working perfectly. Also there is another small problem, which is when i play a video in gallery, i see gray coloured field under the video, which suppose to be black..I should also say that the video displying quality has been slightly reduced after the update, even the BRAVIA engine is turned on...videos which played in superb quality, now display like low quality videos.
I've been trying to tether my Sony Erricson Xperia Neo to a laptop pc. Android OS.I first tried USB tethering but my laptop had no internet access, so I instead tried setting up a portable wifi hotspot to see if that would work. My laptop recognised the network I had created and I joined it succesfully, but I had no internet access. (Note: When I used USB tethering another network was recognised by the laptop)
I checked my phone and the 3g icon which shows that mobile internet is enabled (the two little verticle arrows with 3g above them) were not visible, but when I disabled the wi-fi hotspot, the icon appeared again. I'm not sure whether this is normal but could it be that 3g is being disabled with the activation of hotspotting, or is it just hidden automatically when wi-fi hotspotting is disabled? I find sometimes that the 3g icon disapears for no reason in areas I previously have had good signal, and then when I try and connect it takes a few seconds and then the icon appears again and I can connect.
Here are some details about the phone: model number: SK17i android version: 4.0.4, build number: 4.1.B.0.431 baseband version: 8x55A-AAABQOAZM-203028G-72
I use USB tethering a lot, and sometimes for very long times. When I disconnect the phone, sometimes, my phone becomes unable to receive calls. And even worse, the caller hears the normal calling sound, but my phone just doesn't do anything. So to the caller it seems that I'm just not answering, although the phone isn't notifying me in any way, during the call or after the call! So there is no way telling how many calls I'm missing..
When I try "reset" the mobile network by going to flight mode and back, the phone completely locks, and I have to remove the battery to reboot the phone. This problem won't go away unless I reboot the phone. This happens awfully often, regardless if I click USB tethering off from the phone first before disconnecting it. The most important function is not working and makes the "phone" useless.
Has anyone had any luck doing this without a tethering plan? I have a brand new Imac with Snow Leopard 10.6 and just picked up the Bold 9700 through At&t.
