I am trying to use my phone as a wifi hotspot but when I go into 'settings' then 'wireless and network' I have no option for tething adn portable hotspot. I have tried downloading the most up to date software and have even tried re-enstalling the phone as it said the software is all up to date.

At first it was okay, then i used it as portable hotspot without problem. Now thw wifi and portable hotspot cannot turn on at all. Its not on then off, it just like loading forever. And i notice my wifi mac address is unavailable.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a portable device (Archos 5 UInternet Tablet) that uses the Android operating system.I want to tether the blackberry and use it as a modem via a Bluetooth connection. I've been onto the BB site and the instructions there speak only of Windows and Mac operating systems. I can pair the BB to the Archos but it won't connect and the Archos reports that the BB will not support tethering.Can anyone help me fix this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to tether my Sony Erricson Xperia Neo to a laptop pc. Android OS.I first tried USB tethering but my laptop had no internet access, so I instead tried setting up a portable wifi hotspot to see if that would work. My laptop recognised the network I had created and I joined it succesfully, but I had no internet access. (Note: When I used USB tethering another network was recognised by the laptop)
I checked my phone and the 3g icon which shows that mobile internet is enabled (the two little verticle arrows with 3g above them) were not visible, but when I disabled the wi-fi hotspot, the icon appeared again. I'm not sure whether this is normal but could it be that 3g is being disabled with the activation of hotspotting, or is it just hidden automatically when wi-fi hotspotting is disabled? I find sometimes that the 3g icon disapears for no reason in areas I previously have had good signal, and then when I try and connect it takes a few seconds and then the icon appears again and I can connect.

My wife has an LG G4 and the Portable Wifi hotspot is eating up our data.
I check all the hotspot settings and they are turned off and yet in data manager it shows that it has used almost 4 gigs of background data. On top of her normal usage.
I need to know how to stop this because this has put us close to our limit.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy issue may not be specific to the Moto X 2014, but it's the phone I'm using. I'm able to tether my Moto X to my Dell laptop and use the internet, no problem.
But when I turn on the portable wi-fi hotspot, give it a network name, set security to WPA2 PSK, broadcast channel (either 2.4 or 5 GHz) and give it a password (at least 8 characters), it doesn't work. My laptop connects, but there's no internet data.
Given that I'm able to share my mobile phone data plan with my laptop via a tether, I'm curious as hell to know why the hotspot feature isn't work.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I got my phone all the tethering stuff was in place as normal.. I tried it out on my mac and it worked great.. Then my phone crashed, got it running good to go now.. So the other night I needed internet, go into settings, turn ON tethering.. Open macbook, wait, nothing.. go back into settings on my iPhone and there is no longer anything left even related to tethering.. GONE!
So where did it go and how can I get it back is what I am wondering? 3.1.2j, telus network Canada, originally at&t.
Also, is there a way to force a carrier update? When I got one the first time it didnt show me the cellular data network settings, after the reset of the phone thats there and I had to enter in the information all manually for MMS, internet, etc.friggin problems.. nothing ever wants to work right.

I updated the IOS & noticed a missing hotspot icon,I searched the web for solusions, including reset network settings & reactivate the hotspot icon in general=>network=>hotspot.Non of them worked.
