Motorola Xoom :: Family Edition Missing Bluetooth Tethering Profile
Dec 11, 2011
I'm connecting my phone via bluetotth with original xoom and i see under device "wrench" button a tethering profile. On family edition the profile is gone. What gives?
I have original xoom and xoom family edition. On original xoom there is a huge choice of locales and interface languages that i could use. For example i could easily set it up to use Russian everywhere in the menus and whatnot. But on family edition the choice is very trimmed. How can add full russian localization to it?
getting a bit frustrated about family edition being trimmed...
I Just bought the Xoom Family Edition and it is a great tablet for the price.I wanted a dock for a boost in the speakers and to charge the tablet.I purchased the Xoom HD Speaker Dock - it's the same product right? just the Family Edition is a little scaled back. They have moved the USB and HDMI ports so it will not work with the XOOM docking stations. There is absolutely NO mention of this in the XOOM accessory descriptions (shame on Motorola). They need to fix the product description ASAP and note in BOLD that the XOOM accessories do NOT work with Xoom Family Edition.will the Family Edition tablet work with the Xoom 2 dock and accessories? Will they make a doc for the family edition?
So I have noticed that my Xoom Family Edition has just powered itself off randomly a few times.I go back to the tablet to wake it up, but it is fully powered off. My battery is charged. This has happened about 3 or 4 times since owning it for 3 days.
Does Motorola's product roadmap for the Xoom Family Edition include plans to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or will it primarily be focused on Android 3.1+?Are there current near term plans for an upgrade to 3.2?
i have a xoom wifi/3g (not using a 3g plan) honeycomb up grade and i am having problems with bluetooth tethering. i am able to start the bluetooth tethering and everything works well fo r a little while. i am using my droid x2 and the sleep options are all off on noth my xoom and droid x 2. The bt connection does not drop but the bt tethering does eventhough the device bt tool box is saying the device i can unpair and pair again and the bt internet does not work. the only way it comes back is if i reboot the xoom which sucks.
I have a tethering plan with my blackberry. I would like to tether my xoom wifi to my blackberry phone via bluetooth. Im able to do this with my laptop with no issues. I purchased the WIFI version with the idea of being able to use tethering while away from usable wifi.
The XOOM 3G manual says that ts possible to use USB tethering for sharing your XOOM's 3G connection with the laptop. However, the XOOM doesn't have the option described in the manual! I'm running 3.2 on a non-US 3G XOOM.Well, you might wonder why I need USB tethering. So far, I've found that USB tethering provides better bandwidth than WIFI tethering.
I have a hard time tethering from XOOM to Laptop, after I reinstalled my Window VISTA laptop, and since I upgraded XOOM to 4G. I don't know whether it is 4G upgrade or VISTA that causes the problem. Sometime, it works the first attempt to connect, the other time i have to reboot my laptop a couple of times. My remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device driver is current. My Laptop saw XOOM drive fine no problem( I did installed Motorola Driver). And I attempted to do a soft reboot (Vol up + Power button), it shown the battery level and hung there for a long time (1 to 2 minutes maybe). I think i don't know how to do a soft reboot the right way. However, I can tether to my laptop, but i have to reboot my laptop a couple times. I did try to unplug and replug the USB cable and then set xoom to tethering/hot spot in both wifi and 3g/4g. It failed to connect unless I reboot the machine. My xoom is 3.2.2 with HLK75D build number.
It asks for my tablet's "serial number" for this forum profile. My tablet has a serial number field that is completely different and separate from the MEID, which is what you usually want. Which information do you want, and can you please clarify it and give an example and number of characters expected on the profile page?
I went to update my profile since I saw the message that they had separated the tablets from the phones. Not quite. They still require you to enter a serial number for your phone or you can't save the profile.Even though I'm not using a Motorola phone.I put the tablet serial number in there and it took it. So I put the tablet serial number two places. No harm done just irritating. If they aren't any smarter than this that they can't even organize a logical personal info sheet where the entries pertain to what you are entering info about ... what kind of stuff are they making?Incompetence really torques my jawInfo sheets for phone users should be COMPLETELY SEPARATE from info sheets for TABLET users, not combined
I have an iPhone 3GS running 3.1.3. I want to install a developer profile to enable tethering (AT&T) without jailbreaking. How can I do this? I tried installing the developer profile (while running 3.1.3) and it installed, but it didn't work. Is there a hardware restriction as well?
my usb tethering stopped working so I thought I'd delete the profile but now cannot get it back. Can anyone tell me how to do so? Wifi and bluetooth tethering still work but usb isnt on my network list.
I have a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid with Micorsoft Sync. I had a Droid X and upgraded to the Bionic. When getting in the car, the DX always auto-connected to the phone (headset) profile and also to the A2DP profile, although sometimes the Sync screen displayed a "Connection failed" message before it always actually did connect. Previously my BB Storm 2 had no problems connecting.
When I turn the car on, the Bionic connects fine to the headset profile but fails to auto-connect to the A2DP profile. I get the same "Connection failed" message as with the DX but it doesn't subsequently connect and I have to connect it manually. This is very troubling to me as I almost exclusively use A2DP for listening to music and podcasts in my car.[url]...
So this is a little bit of a fail, you can not use the moto actv to stream music from phone over bluetooth to it. Which means no Pandora, Slacker, Spootify.
We were told weeks ago that it would be and now with the update rolling out we still don't have confirmation. If its not included can you put it on the site for download so we can add it manually. Its on the WiFi Xoom and can't be region specific so
I saw a similiar discussion in the Non-US Xoom forum while I was searching for an answer to this same problem. Somehow the SD card cover came off of my Xoom. Does anyone know how to order a replacement
I'm typing the numerical web address for my media and noted there isn't a colon. i swear there was one before the 3.1 update. Is it gone, or is it so obvious i can't see it?
Why is this app is missing on my device? Wasn't it a flagship application and a major selling feature when XOOM was presented? What happened? Will it become available after the update?
I am following the instructions to copy the files from my xoom to a windows 7 PC (64 bit). It does not copy all the files and folders. For example when I do the select all instructed I only get 4 of the 13GB of data. I saw that it only copied the music files in the directory music, none of the sub-directories. I could then select all the folders in music and copy them over (none of my music on the xoom has any DRM). I was still missing some files. When I hook the xoom up via the USB cable I get the following mounted:
ComputerXoomInternal Storage
I can not drag Internal Storage to the folder created on the windows 7 pc, it is just a red circle with a line thru it. I can select all the directories/folders under Internal Storage, but it randomly picks which directories/files/sub-directories to copy.
Perhaps a problem with the win 7 pc driver?
Before I send the xoom off (and I have my packing box already) I would like to back it up completely.
I've noticed that when I send an email directly from the xoom standard email client my signature is present in the email body, however when the "send email" to a recipient option is selected from the contacts application the signature is missing. What could be causing this inconsistency and is there something I can do about it?
tell me where I can get a replacement Micro SD cover for my Xoom? It constantly comes out and now it's gone. I want to prevent dust or other particles from getting in my device.
I understand that 3g versions are able to customize voice recognition input but the wifi version is missing this option in the settings...are there other missing features? Why can't the wifi version customize voice recognition? It's under Settings, Language and Input, Voice recognizer settings - there's no "personalized recognition" on the wifi version...?
Got the 3.1 update on my wifi xoom this morning. Looks like im missing the movies tab in the market and im also missing the videos app. i tried clearing the data for the market but it made no difference.
When I got my phone all the tethering stuff was in place as normal.. I tried it out on my mac and it worked great.. Then my phone crashed, got it running good to go now.. So the other night I needed internet, go into settings, turn ON tethering.. Open macbook, wait, nothing.. go back into settings on my iPhone and there is no longer anything left even related to tethering.. GONE!
So where did it go and how can I get it back is what I am wondering? 3.1.2j, telus network Canada, originally at&t.
Also, is there a way to force a carrier update? When I got one the first time it didnt show me the cellular data network settings, after the reset of the phone thats there and I had to enter in the information all manually for MMS, internet, etc.friggin problems.. nothing ever wants to work right.
I am trying to use my phone as a wifi hotspot but when I go into 'settings' then 'wireless and network' I have no option for tething adn portable hotspot. I have tried downloading the most up to date software and have even tried re-enstalling the phone as it said the software is all up to date.
