Galaxy S6 :: Allow Tethering Of Other Devices Without Additional Tethering Plans
Jun 8, 2015
I read about apps that allow tethering of other devices without the additional tethering plans... foxfi was one that was suggested... however, I don't think it is working on the S6. Any app that works?
I have a SM-G900F (no carrier) European S5, bought like a couple months ago, not rooted or installed any custom rom, full stock on 5.0.
When I enable Mobile Hotspot or share the connection through USB, the other devices connect just fine, but no data is received at all.
* Tested with both a laptop and another phone * To rule out carrier restrictions, I put the SIM in a Nexus4 and enabled Wifi tethering, then connected to it with the S5, works np, just not the other way around.
Has anyone had any luck doing this without a tethering plan? I have a brand new Imac with Snow Leopard 10.6 and just picked up the Bold 9700 through At&t.
I have just completed a factory reset of my Samsung Galaxy S6 4G. I still can't connect to the Internet on my laptop via USB tethering. Or if it does connect the speed is ~500 Kbps (before it was between 10 Mbps and 20 Mbps).
My Samsung Galaxy S6 is new and I am using a root wifi tether. It gets extremely hot (attached picture with CPU-Z with temperatures). Is this typical? Is this dangerous?
What should I try? Factory reset/turn in phone, or are there other things I should try? Or should I just deal with it.
I am currently using smg925i rom XtreStoLite. Mod to enable usb reverse tethering in s6 edge. I want to use my PC internet connection on my mobile. This feature was available in htc one m7 but missing in s6edge...
If I click Edit & look for it in the rest of the inactive icons it's not there either - I mean it's not even there for adding. I used to have it & use it every once in a while
I thought it would be useful to make a bug list, that way anyone with a specific problem can come here to see if it's common and if there's any workarounds."Wi-Fi Sharing" process activated when tethering not enabled..Problem description: When using my phone earlier when connected to wifi, my battery went down very fast. Looked in the battery monitor, and it showed that the "Wi-fi sharing" process was using more power than the screen (which is unusual) - it used about 10% in half an hour. I also noticed my phone had clocked up to 1.2ghz and was getting pretty hot. I force stopped the process, and the CPU clocked back down to 200mhz.
Reproducing the problem: It appears to happen if you've enabled or configured tethering once. When it happens to me, it happens if I disable then enable wifi. It may or may not be specific to the type of wifi network you connect to.Root your phone and freeze "Wi-Fi sharing" in Titanium Backup. This will not effect Kies air or anything, though could effect tethering. If your tethering no longer works after freezing this application, defrost it to restore tethering functionality. Most people are saying this, and another wifi drain issue, have been fixed in the latest firmware(s).Potential issues when restoring settings from a rooted phone to a non rooted SGS II via Google.I did have a little problem here and there when I first got my SGSII. When I setup the google account, I chose to allow google to restore my settings. It is pretty cool as it restored all the apps I had with my old SGS but I suspect some of the apps I had is for the custom rom only hence I had problem everywhere with the new SGSII. I then did a factory reset and setup without the restore bit and since then I havn't had a single problem yet.My phone came with XWKDD and I heard something about this firmware has fixes to the previous ones, so it might worth upgrade your firmware if you are ok with Odin So my suggestions to you is, do a factory reset and rebuild your phone from scratch without restoring, if problem still exists, consider a firmware update.
I have had my SG2 (On three with "all you can eat data") for about two weeks and the last week I keep getting a tethering block, several times a day, when using internet or network error while using apps. this can only be fixed by rebooting the phone. I have not used the phone for tethering or as a wifi hot spot so don't know why its doing it. I have replaced the sim card and done a factory reset on the phone but it is still doing it. When I get the error in the internet app there's a link to the three website which does work.
Wish I had read in here first - my Lumia 800 arrived yesterday, and after trying for ages to get my netbook tethered to the lumia to use the internet I looked in here - was hoping for a solution, but not the only solution is to return the handset and go back to my old N8-00.
Is tethering likely to be added in the near future ?
Tethering is listed in the specs for Lumia 900 ? Why is it not listed for the 800? If not coming to the Lumia 800 I am sending it back.[URL] Browsing and Internet Internet sharing Use as a WiFi Hotspot for up to 5 WiFi-enabled devices?
I need help I need to finish sum paper work on my pc or a laptop an I want too connect my bb9700 to my pc through the blackberry usb were do I go to on my phone to turn it on an use my data web from my phone to my pc or laptop please.
I'm the proud owner of a brand spanking new /white/ iPhone 3GS. I moved to AT&T from VZW and a droid (this phone is MILES ahead of android in terms of OS usability especially since I have a Mac, the syncing is seamless).
I got really lucky and the phone was a 3.1.2 (bought it a few days ago) so I was able to JB (tethered). I started playing around and tried out MyWi for the wifi tethering and it worked awesomely with my MacBook.
Here's my question:
I noticed that under settings>general>network, I have an internet tethering option that uses USB or Bluetooth. Is this a hack that was enabled inadvertently through something I did in the jailbreak process, or is this an AT&T feature that I will be charged extra for using? I'm curious because this seems like a cleaner approach since it's built into the OS.
I have had this irritating problem since I tried "MyWi" on my Iphone. The tethering bar at the top (just below the statusbar) won't go away. Even if I delete the application and restart my Iphone or if I reinstall it and then delete it and restart my Iphone it won't disappear. As soon as I turn my 3G or Wifi on and the phone recon that it has internetconnection there's a bar at the top of my screen saying "tethering" (or in rare occasions "xxxkb/s up xxxkb/s doown"). Sometimes when I turn of 3G and/or my Wifi the bar disapears or if I don't use any internetconnections for a while. I also downloaded ifile and deleted everything under "MyWi" under applications (weird that it was still there even after I deleted it via cydia.) I don't want to reinstall my phone
After of getting de ICS update on my Xperia Pro MK16a, I canīt use the Tethering functions on my notebook. I've tried using USB Tethering and Wifi Zone, but my notebook shows "no internet acces". The acces point is configured correctly, I can use the phone browser y access Google Play and other apps (facebook, twitter) without problems.
I have an LG G3 phone, and since I connected it with USB tethering, the MTP option is gone. I've disabled USB tethering, and it still shows in the dropdown settings menu. Once tethering is disabled, MTP should appear again.
I had a Galaxy S3 on Verizon but finally just couldn't take Verizon anymore so I switched to a Nexus 5 on Aio that runs on the AT&T network. I use to use the tethering on my S3 to do work when I was on-call but that requires me to access a VPN and I did that all the time without out any problems. However, ever since I switched to my Nexus 5 I can't connect to any VPNs. Do I need to do something different?
I've tried using the built-in tethering app and also tried using Fox-Fi (paid version) both do the same thing. Just as a side note Fox-Fi is what I used on the S3 and it worked perfectly.
A co worker of mine racked up 2 gigs of data 2 months ago and burned through a blistering 8.6 gigs of data this past month. All of this on his 3Gs and none of it done by tethering with a jailbroken iPhone. He "claims" that he has no clue how it happened but I'm guessing he knows. How many video clips of wholesome family entertainment would he have to download to hit that impossible number. I nearly myself when I saw the bill.
I have an iPhone 3GS (32GB) and it's never been JB, it's running on 3.1.3 OS. I have been trying to set up Tethering but have had no luck , I don't want to JB but will if it's my last option
I have an HTC Hero with Sprint, and I'm wondering how to tether it to get internet connection on my laptop through USB. My laptop doesn't have Bluetooth.
I have a 9700, originally from wind, unlocked, now on mobilicity. I've setup tethering through the BB management software, everything appears to connect. However, when I try to access any websites, I'm redirected to a 'pay for another account' style webpage. From there I can click 'return home' which brings me to mobilicity's mobile web home page but if I click anywhere there, it brings me back to the 'pay for another account' page. I have a working data plan and have checked with mobilicity and they say there's nothing extra I would have to pay for. I think it may have to do with the phone coming from another network or being unlocked.
Since last week my iMac can't recognize my iPhone in Network Preferences, when I plug my iPhone in my macbook the problem is gone, so I tried to reset Network Preferences in iMac and nothing changed I also tried coping Network Preferences from my macbook -since tethering is working fine there- and nothing changed.

USB tethering with my iPhone 4S has been working fine until recently but its started to hang on pages every so often (When tethered to my Mac via USB), or refuse to load them at all. But when I go on my phone to try and load the page, it loads instantly.
I am travelling and am in a hotel that has expensive wireless Internet that works only on one registered device. So, if I register my computer, I cannot also use my iPhone or iPad, even if the MBP is off. Does the iPhone allow tethering while on Wi-Fi, not on 3G? In other words, if I register my iPhone for Wi-Fi Internet access with the hotel, would I be able to use it as a 'Personal Hotspot' to get Internet access on the MBP and iPad? Secoond question. If the iPhone is locked to my provider in Canada (Rogers), does this means taht the 3G data is also locked, or is it only the voice/SMS features that are locked?
