Nov 21, 2011I have a 2 blackberry bold 9000 and I am trying to update the software to 5.0 1137. 1 of my blackberry was able to update, but the other one wont let me update from 4.6 to 5.0.

Aug 30, 2010When I sync my BB to my Mac, it says that there is an update available for my BB, and when I try to update, it keeps saying not enough memory. I deleted all the apps, even the core apps, I wiped my device still no solution!

Feb 1, 2010its a rogers phone wich i unlocked to use on Fido. everything was perfect untill today i decided to uptade it to the new OS 5. everything went fine and then teir was a blackpage with blackberry writen on it it had a litle load icon moving when that over it restarted and turned on i then went to the browser (btw all this and it was still pluged via USB) the next thing i see is that it has turned off it had a red light on (wich untill now still is 15min have passed) what happens is that it keeps reloading that page with the blackberry writen and the white loading line thing but wont turn on (it wont go to the clock)

Aug 20, 2010Only recently my telco releases OS5 for BOLD 9000. Initially I downloaded it and tried to install but it says that there is insufficient space, at that point of time i still keep my fav theme ans stuff which free apps space is around 20mb, and the installation still says that I have insufficient space until I totally wipe the whole thing clean to its original factory status BUT it still says insufficient space for update. Do I have to delete the system software of 4.6 before I need to have the "space" required? (I have currently 50mb of free apps space isn't it enough?)
Please help as the previous update from earlier version to version 4.6 was just few clicks away from desktop manager and things are done and for this 4.6 to 5 update takes me 1 whole day, loosing all my setting and data (cleaned EVERYTHING that I can think of and read all the thread in CB still I can't update to OS 5) Its a Real waste of time and pain from head to toe. I have 50mb of free Application storage space and yet it still needs 7mb of space for the update. I'm thinking of sledge hammering my Bold a couple of time through the process of deleting and restarting.
BB Bold :: 9000 - OS5 Update & Application Memory?
Aug 29, 2010Signed up to the forum just for help resolving this issue. I'm currently running OS4.6, trying to update to OS5. I know that the 9000 application memory is SO limited that one has to remove all applications before attempting the update.
So here I am, a completely blank BB Bold, no applications, photos, texts, contacts, etc. I still receive the error message on BB DTM that says I need to remove another 3mb of data before I can continue with the update - but there is literally nothing else I can remove. I'm running DTM on a Mac - I hear that may be cause for some problems as well?

Aug 25, 2010Today I attempted to upgrade to the new 5.0 OS via Desktop Manager. The backup was completed and software installed. The process stalled on the reboot portion. My phone turned on, and I saw the blackberry screen with the loading bar below. The loading bar filled up and then my usual AT&T World Phone orange screen came up (which usually lasts for about 5 seconds before the home screen comes up). However, the orange screen lasted over an hour. Since the software was already installed I did a battery pull. The phone started up to the same AT&T screen and stops. The backlight still dims as usual, and comes back up on a button push but its stuck there with no home screen, now for another 3 hrs. It won't allow me to try to wipe or reinstall the OS because the phone has to be started to do so, and it says it can't connect to the phone (but it does recognize my device when its plugged into the computer). I have searched the forums for similar problems but haven't found any others with my problem.

Jun 12, 2010I just got my blackberry a few weeks ago, and it was working perfect up until I downloaded BlackBerry Desktop Manager, plugged my handset in and updated it.... It operates much slower. There's a good 5-15 second delay when trying to access the menu, and it will freeze while I'm trying to answer incoming calls. Also my alarm clock doesn't work anymore. There's no sound coming out when it goes off, the volume is set to high, but it will still ring when someone calls me. It was working prior to the update, and I didn't change any settings after. Is there a way to roll back the update. I thought updates were supposed to fix problems and issues, not create them.
ps it is a BlackBerry 9000 carried by Rogers, O/S version 4.6.0.303
BB Bold 9000 :: Update It Disables My Texting Abilities?
Aug 4, 2010Every time I run an update it disables my texting abilities. I have called my carrier, who in turn gives me over to there blackberry techs who cant figure the problem out. Every time this happens they have to do something on there end to get my text messaging going again. I KNOW this is not the answer.

I am very used to the Iphone and HTC Touch Pro 2 (not trying to start a flaming/argument/anything else , its just what i'm used to). I am very used to browsing with the other phones and I have heard that BB phones are not up to par, so my expectations will be low. Out of the two phones however, does one perform better than the other (Curve 8530 vs Bold 9000)? Out of the two phones, which one do you recommend overall. I have read that the Bold 9000 even though it is older, it still outperforms the 8530...

Aug 30, 2010I dropped my BlackBerry Bold 9000 on the weekend and damaged the LCD screen. The device still works, but two thirds of the LCD is now white and there's what looks like an inkblot on the left side of the screen. I'd like to try to fix it, but don't really want to shell out a lot of $ to do so --- I'm a month away from upgrading.Does anyone have any suggestions, or perhaps a dead BlackBerry with a working screen that you're willing to part with? A DIY repair -- this is out of warranty anyway -- looks straightforward, but I'm not sure I want to spend the $100 or so for a new OEM part to replace the LCD screen.

Now gmail, facebook, browser - none work. I've tried the battery pull, turning on/off the network, run a diagnostic test from mobile network options. Sep 18, 2010A few days ago I pulled my phone out of the holster and It was really hot and when i looked at it i realized it was off, and wouldnt turn back on. just a red light comes on like normal upon a battery pull but after it turns off the red light comes back on again once more then stays off for good. unless i plug it in then it comes on and goes off all the time. I got it powered back up yesterday but then it did it again. Today I plugged it in and I saw a picture of a battery come up on the screen showing it as empty, i was hoping that meant it might charge up. but no such luck. My main objective is just to get the phone up long enough to back up the info on the phone.

Feb 19, 2010I was just wondering. As it turns out that the 9700 and 9000 share the same type of battery, so how is it that the bold has a far superior battery life over the 9000? Some have reported that the 9700 can hold charge upto 2 days even after heavy usage. So i was wondering are the batteries really identical in every way as claimed? and if they arent is it possible to swap the battery of my 9000 and expect a longer battery life? coz the one im having right now only seem to hold charge for about 15hours with fair usage on a 5.0 OS Zain Kuwait.

Jun 6, 2010I have a Bold 9000 that keeps going to contacts no matter what icon I click on.I tried upgrading the OS and the phone worked fine for about an hour and then went straight back to only going to contacts. The same thing happens when I downgrade.I am unable to make calls or do anything from the contacts list. The phone is basically unusable.
I have tried the upgrade and battery pull and restore from back up.Does anyone have any suggestions of what this could be and how to fix it.

BB Bold 9000 :: Is The Bold Significant Upgrade From Curve 8320?
Mar 18, 2010I'd appreciate opinions from folks who had a Curve 9320 who upgraded to a Bold 9700. I love the Curve, but am starting to have issues with long periods of watching the hour glass, but also mechanical age issues, like a metal pin that poked through the 5/D key.My only complaint with the Curve, other than the amount of time it spends thinking about itself, is that I could never use weatherbug or any of the weather apps, they just ground everything to a halt.
