BB Bold 9700 :: Lock Function Not Working After OS Update

Ever since I updated the softward on my device (about a week ago) my lock function doesn't work. I have set all the same securities as before (Options/Password/Enable) however when I push the "Lock" button on the top of the device it only locks they keypad. If I push it again it simply unlocks the device, it does not prompt for a password. I have to wait for the device to reach it's security time out before there is a password prompt to unlock.

I have a BB Bold 9700 and after I did a software upgrade ( to v5.0.0.743) my lock feature will not work. Previously, If i were to click the lock button at the top left, the phone would lock and would display my user information which I created. The top right button (mute key) would thus put the phone into standby mode. Now, when I click the top left (lock) button, the phone goes into standby, and when I click the top right (mute) button, nothing happens. I loved having my user information displayed when the phone was not in use. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can get around it? I tried turning on the password (which I do not like using) and turning it off again as well as doing a battery pull.

My right function key has a function assigned to it, but is not working. The left one is fine, but not the right. Is it possibly locked for some reason, or just not working?

Out of nowhere, my camera won't zoom. Neither the trackpad nor vol up/down keys will do it. The pad and keys work otherwise, though.

I can't Zoom when using trackpad and also Volume up/down, Buttom 3 and 9 also cannot.I am able to ZOOM when I first bought it but then after that I can zoom 1x 2x anymore after 1 month of using.Can someone advise how can I set back the ZOOm function.I tried all OPTIONs field and still cannot.

When I press the LOCK button on the top left of the phone, the phone locks (as expected). When I press the button again to unlock, nothing happens it's as if the button is not working. When I press the green 'Make Call' button I get the following message: 'Keypad is locked. Press the Lock button to unlock'. When I press the lock button (top left), nothing happens. The only way out of this is to take the battery out and re-boot.
This is getting quite annoying, as I now do not want to lock the phone.

I have a blackberry bold 97000 v 5.0.0.714(platform)5.1.0.146.Since the past 2 days my top left phone lock button is not working.when i googled it some said that you need to revert back to your old os to make it work.Is this a confirned bug in the new os?

Whenever I tap the lock button located at the top of the handset, it seems to only invoke the lock mechanism to stop error entries or calls when in your pocket, it's not locking handset to a point where you require password? I know I can lock it via the bb key but that's tidious. Anyone else experiencing this or annoyed with it?

Today I was trying to lock my phone having installed the new OS (5.0.0.593) and when I press my functioning lock button (i.e. not physically broken) it puts the phone in standby, not locking it. I have a password and if I lock my phone that screen usually comes up. Whats the point if it doesn't lock? I've pressed the standby key and that doesn't lock it either. In a moment of desperation i assigned the left convenience key as a lock button, but I would love to have it at the top as normal.

I have a Blackberry Bold 9700 which was replaced under warranty in January this year. T mobile told me that they could not repair the old one and therefore it was replaced with a new one - the keyboard and lock button has now stopped working on this some of the time meaning it can't be used as I cannot unlock it. Despite the fact that it was only brand new in January as the contract is over 2 years now they say there is no warranty on it but speak to Blackberry can't find any other way of doing this?

I'm using Bold 9000 and after installing the new OS5.0, I realized my key lock function is missing and I can only lock my phone after password enabled.I tried downgrading back to 4.6 and re-installing 5.0 but still the function is missing. Any help to this matter?I really hate setting my phone to password enable.

It may sound trivial to some but one of my favorite BB functions was lost during the recent update and I can't seem to find how to restore it. I used to have the keyboard lock function assigned to the left side convenience key. This was really essentail for me to have and now it is not available for me to assign when I try to assign something for the left side convenience key. I know the Tour has the option on the top of the phone to lock it but even when this is pushed, it will still unlock in my bag. How can I restore this option?

This morning I was prompted by Desktop Manager to upgrade the software on my Bold 9700. This has now been running for well over two hours. The on screen message says "loading system software". At this stage the phone is showing no signs of life and the progress bar has not advanced any further for two hours.Is this normal or should I be worrried?

I have just updated my phone to the new software via the blackberry desktop software for a mac, as prompted to by the software, but after the update i can not scroll down on the software agreement so I can not use the phone! I downgraded the software version back to 5. something and it works fine. have tried rebooting the device,taking out the battery, re installing 6.0 and nothing seems to work.

I've accepted the fact that after the latest update the keylock button does not lock password enabled. But WTF happened to the silent mode? The button is not working at all :S is it to do with my phone or has the latest update cancelled that as well?

There's no auto phone book function in 9700? For example, I saved a contact 12345678. Hence, from the main screen when I pressed 123, the contact I had saved earlier didn't show up. Is that a common problem of 9700?

When I switch on the camera application the track pad doesn't zoom anymore like it used to. The track pad on the screen shows only the + sign on top of the tracking pad but the - sign has disappeared, in the panel it shows zoom at 1.0x. I have pressed the accessory bottom and the function for zoom in and out have disappeared as well. The letter commands on the key board for zooming in and out don't work either. I would appreciate any assistance I can get.

I just noticed after only a week of having 9700, that I have a very thin surface scratch on my track pad. It's not something that you can even really see unless you move it back and forth under a light (and I'm not that vain) but it got me wondering about the possibility of deeper scratches possibly affecting the function of the track pad?? I have babied this thing for the last week, and still got a fine surface scratch, so more heavy usage could possibly result in deeper scratches down the road. Although a very fine surface scratch might not affect the function, could a deeper one affect it?? And if that happens, how easily can the track pad be changed out by a local technician (or yourself)?

I've tried going into: Options>SMS>Disable Auto Text>Save. It doesn't work. Is there another way to disable this fucnction? I get tired of seeing the box with word suggestions as I type messages.

I have a problem with my Blackberry and would be grateful if anyone knows what the problem is.I have only my Blackberry 9700 bold for 1 month or so.I am unable to lock my keypad by using the lock key on top of the phone. This has happened before but after charging my phone it started to work again. I have turned my phone on and off, tried charging it and the button still doesn't work. Although the keypad will lock when I put it into the leather case.Do you think it is a problem with my blackberry and I should return it? Or is this a problem people have had before and if so, how do I fix it?

A few weeks ago the click function of my trackball stopped working. I think it was because I had moisture and dirt on my hand when I picked it up to use it. I have been reluctant to take it apart since I don't have a backup BB and it is still 90% functional without this feature working. Today, I did 3 things. First, I took rubbing alcohol and a q-tip and soaked the trackball. Then I used a piece of a straw, threaded it down between the black piece around the trackball and the chrome bezel, gently pulled up on it and used as much compressed air as possible to blow out the area under the trackball. Then, while the battery was out I pushed on the trackball assembly from behind pretty hard. I repeated this procedure a few times, and it suddenly started working. It was intermittent at first, but is working normally now. For how long I don't know but thought I would share this for others that have the same issue.

I want to delete an email account on my Bold 9700. I click on setup, email acccount, internet mail account then nothing happens other than it takes me back to the set up menu screen. Seems to be stuck in a loop. I recently downloaded the new 6.0 OS.

About a week ago my Windows Live Hotmail was hacked. Reset password and everything appears to be OK there. On Mon. did the software upgrade from OS 6.2xxx to 6.3xxx. Can't get email to my Bold 9650 now. Neither the old password nor the new one works, though the old one works with my Facebook account. Can't add another hotmail account or uninstall the existing account so I could start over. Yes, the email works everywhere else.

I recently updated my Blackberry 9700 and ever since it's not as it used to be. I used to press the top left to lock button to password enable lock it. When I did this the screen would dim, but now when I press the shortcut key the screen goes black. Then if I press the shortcut key again it unlocks it straight away even though I have the password option on. Before, regardless of which ever key I pressed it would always ask for a password. Now, the only time it asks for the password is when I take it out of the holster. This is really annoying me.The standby button (top right) doesnt do anything anymore, pressing and holding * button doesnt work to password lock the phone either.

Is there a way to disable the lock and mute buttons on the top of the BlackBerry Bold 9700? I just received my new windshield cradle that grips it from top and bottom, and the buttons are invariable pressed accidentally for a variety of reasons. Perhaps an application that can shut them off, or some type if setting?

I am buying a BB Bold 9700 tomorrow and was just wondering if there is a "full-screen" function in the video player. The reason I ask this is that some of the videos I plan on putting on the BB are widescreen and I don't really want those top and bottom black bars to take up screen estate. If there is no such feature, does anyone know of any (preferably free) software to convert and crop videos down to a format and aspect ratio that will fit the 9700's screen?
