My right function key has a function assigned to it, but is not working. The left one is fine, but not the right. Is it possibly locked for some reason, or just not working?

View 7 Replies View RelatedEver since I updated the softward on my device (about a week ago) my lock function doesn't work. I have set all the same securities as before (Options/Password/Enable) however when I push the "Lock" button on the top of the device it only locks they keypad. If I push it again it simply unlocks the device, it does not prompt for a password. I have to wait for the device to reach it's security time out before there is a password prompt to unlock.

Do not know how this happened, no damage to the phone at all, all of a sudden anything that plays of the speakerphone is not working, ie) music, alerts, ringtones.. NOTHING. Not even speakerphone during calls.The handset speaker works perfectly fine. I went thru allmy options, looked at all the sound profiles, nothing is working. Videos aren't playing sounds either. But if played through the handset or earphones it works....
When I switch on the camera application the track pad doesn't zoom anymore like it used to. The track pad on the screen shows only the + sign on top of the tracking pad but the - sign has disappeared, in the panel it shows zoom at 1.0x. I have pressed the accessory bottom and the function for zoom in and out have disappeared as well. The letter commands on the key board for zooming in and out don't work either. I would appreciate any assistance I can get.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just noticed after only a week of having 9700, that I have a very thin surface scratch on my track pad. It's not something that you can even really see unless you move it back and forth under a light (and I'm not that vain) but it got me wondering about the possibility of deeper scratches possibly affecting the function of the track pad?? I have babied this thing for the last week, and still got a fine surface scratch, so more heavy usage could possibly result in deeper scratches down the road. Although a very fine surface scratch might not affect the function, could a deeper one affect it?? And if that happens, how easily can the track pad be changed out by a local technician (or yourself)?

View 5 Replies View RelatedA few weeks ago the click function of my trackball stopped working. I think it was because I had moisture and dirt on my hand when I picked it up to use it. I have been reluctant to take it apart since I don't have a backup BB and it is still 90% functional without this feature working. Today, I did 3 things. First, I took rubbing alcohol and a q-tip and soaked the trackball. Then I used a piece of a straw, threaded it down between the black piece around the trackball and the chrome bezel, gently pulled up on it and used as much compressed air as possible to blow out the area under the trackball. Then, while the battery was out I pushed on the trackball assembly from behind pretty hard. I repeated this procedure a few times, and it suddenly started working. It was intermittent at first, but is working normally now. For how long I don't know but thought I would share this for others that have the same issue.

View 3 Replies View Relatedhaving an issue where notification sounds stop working after my photon has been on for 12 to 18 hours. The phone will still vibrate and function fine except for ringing or letting me know about alert/alarms. I am on the latest firmware 45.4.13 but this issue has been ongoing for the past 3 firmware upgrades I have done. I have done factore resets multiple times and ran nothing but stock apps for a full month but it contnues to happen. Honestly it does not bother me to remember to reboot by phone each night but i have missed two VERY important calls because I was in another room and did not hear it ring.

The reason I ask this is that some of the videos I plan on putting on the BB are widescreen and I don't really want those top and bottom black bars to take up screen estate. If there is no such feature, does anyone know of any (preferably free) software to convert and crop videos down to a format and aspect ratio that will fit the 9700's screen?

but my problem isn't like the others, cos it didn't show me message like, "Could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening camera again".
So I have owned a Black Bold 9700 for a while now and about 2 months ago I switched to a White 9700. I would always get at least one day out of my battery in my black 9700. And I was with my white 9700 as well until about 2 weeks ago.I rarely talk on my phone but I am a heavy user with BBM, text and email and a bit with Facebook which I know uses a lot of battery... I have about 90 contacts on BBM and use it constantly everyday -- chatting with 4 to 5 ppl at a time constantly. However, I'm lucky if my battery lasts from 11am until 5pm anymore. I have tried about 3 different batteries and they all have the same issue. I just upgraded my software from .743 to .862 last night.
And I switched over to a brand new OEM battery 2 days ago. I charged my phone overnight and powered it on at 11am and now at 2:14pm I'm sitting at 75% battery life.I don't have many apps on my phone besides Facebook and Weather Eye. The only apps I ever have running everyday are the ones that have to be running constantly (BBM, Phone, Browser, Messages). I rarely even browse the internet and I don't have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi enabled. However, I am always running on 3G.
I've had the BB 9700 for all of 2 weeks, but I've only been using it for about 4 days, because I didn't have time to transfer over my data from my old Curve 8320.One of the only reasons I stayed w/ a Blackberry vs another type of phone was UMA on T-Mobile. I need UMA in my office or I don't get reception. I had limited problems with the UMA on my 8320 but mostly it would work.
I could not get UMA to work *at all* yesterday. And today the wifi connection itself was being flaky. I couldn't get it to connect properly. I made sure it was on wifi perferred (it's been that way all along). I fooled w/ the settings for the actual wifi connection. I turned on and then off again the "allow inter-access point handover". Our SSID is not broadcast so I don't think that box should be checked.
I did a battery pull and restarted the phone and the wifi *and* UMA came on for the first time. This was short-lived though because as soon as it switched over to the mobile network, I couldn't get it to connect to the wifi network at all (even if I turned off mobile), and the UMA of course disappeared again.Any additional suggestions would be most appreciated. Yesterday the wifi wasn't acting funny (I don't think anyway) but I still couldn't connect over UMA.I'm open to other firmware versions (mine is stock .330) if it fixes the UMA issue.
My V key needs a serious press to register. Wondering if there are any better solutions than getting it replaced since the trip to the Telus store is an hour and a half each way and they'll only fix it and not replace it. Takes an average of 3 weeks and by then I'm back in Toronto. So I'm waiting at least til mid-may/june for a working keyboard. Can I open up the phone and clean under the keyboard or something without screwing up my warranty?

I have tried Registering in host tables thing, then pulling out battery and it didn't work. Also on my friends curve, instead of 3G he has GPRS. Just too add, how do I change and check my BIS because its on Wifi and I think it should be on 3G im not sure.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a 2 unlocked T Mobile BB 9700's.My provider is WIND mobile in Canada.I baught the phones used from ebay. One of the phones is working fine.The other phone is not connecting to the 3G network. It is not even showing the 3G network when I manually search networks. I want it to connect to the 3G network because WIND only uses 3G.Both are running the same( latest )OS version. I have switched sim cards(to no avail) and I have tried to restore it to factory settings using the wipe feature in the security settings(nothing)
Both phones are next to each other. One is showing 3G the other is showing 2G (same carrier).what gives??
I've had the 9700 for several months without issue, when randomely, this morning the phone started typing by itself -'L' and 'H' like this...lhlhlhlhlhlhlhlhl- until a message pops up that says "field full". The phone won't respond to the back button and I can't turn it off using the power button - I have to manually pull the battery out to turn it off. When I put the battery back in, it goes to the home screen, but the trackball only works intermittently, and I can't open any of my mailboxes or make calls. Then, about 20 seconds after I put the battery back in, the lhlhlhlhhlhl thing starts again...I have no idea what is going on, but I use this phone for work, so I really need to figure it out...

After a while in that conversation it will start to not work, it will move around bits of text from conversation, it wont let me scroll through messages, then is slow to send, if I leave conversation it wont let me get back into it. View 5 Replies View Relatedmy blackberry has worked fine in the couple of months i have had it, however a few weeks ago the browser and bbm completely stopped working. i took the battery and sim out and then when i put them back in it worked fine again.a few days ago the same thing happened, i tried taking the sim out again and it didnt work, have done it a few times. i rang o2 and they suggested putting it on to manual network and try connecting again, have also done this a few times and it still hasnt worked. i have the right plan and pay to get unlimited browsing, it usually is fine but stopped working randomly.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is my first post. I write to you after several weeks of frustration with my phone as well as a million calls with Rogers customer support.
My problem :
1)I cannot browse the internet using the internet browser both on wifi or Roger's data network
2)Facebook app cannot establish a connection to the server
3)When I use the Browser app it will work for like 10 minutes but then all of sudden the internet just stops working.
I believe all of the three observations listed above have the same root cause. What is odd is that BBM works, my email works, BB app world works, I can even browse with the web2go browser - just not the three items I have described above.I really don't want to restore my phone because i have paid apps and i don't want to pay for my apps again.
My failed troubleshooting attempts so far :
1) Removed battery and sim card + reboot. Done it 1,000,000 times - no success
2) Resend service books - no success
I am at ends with the situation.
