so i set my right convenience key as a shortcut to the camera which used to work before but it stopped working. i brought it to t-mobile and they said i should upgrade my software to the latest one which i did but now it still won't work. the left convenience key is fine and works as a password lock shortchut. what should i do? should i get a manufacturer's warranty or is there anyone else having this problem?
View 5 RepliesSo my wife and I just picked up two new 9700s in white and black from T-Mobile with their buy-1-get-1 offer We're both already blackberry users. I was upgrading from a Pearl 8120, and she had a Curve 8320.After letting them charge for a while I finally fired them up to start playing with them.My first goal is to set them up as similar to our old phones as possible.
I checked the OS'es that shipped with each one and my black 9700 had 5.0.0.330 and hers had 5.0.0.586. So, I went to upgrade mine.But, while playing with some of the settings before upgrading I noticed that I was able to set my left convenience key to lock the keyboard on my 9700 but not on hers.In fact, the white 9700 that shipped with 5.0.0.586 didn't even have the lock keyboard icon in any of the menu screens at all.
I upgraded my OS to 5.0.0.586 and then went to check the left convenience key nothing.Went into settings and where it was previously set to Lock Keyboard, was now set to "Nothing".Is there no Lock Keyboard feature in OS 5.0.0.586? or am I seriously missing something?
Just noticed my left side convenience key has stopped working, i have ensured it is still assingned to a shortcut (calculator) i have also taken the phone cover off and checked the button is working normally

The default Camera also doesn't work. I have enabled the keytones on my phone. I hear the keytone whenever I press the convenience key. But nothing happens. My phone's running BB OS 7.0 bundle 2395.

but my problem isn't like the others, cos it didn't show me message like, "Could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening camera again".
I've had the BB 9700 for all of 2 weeks, but I've only been using it for about 4 days, because I didn't have time to transfer over my data from my old Curve 8320.One of the only reasons I stayed w/ a Blackberry vs another type of phone was UMA on T-Mobile. I need UMA in my office or I don't get reception. I had limited problems with the UMA on my 8320 but mostly it would work.
I could not get UMA to work *at all* yesterday. And today the wifi connection itself was being flaky. I couldn't get it to connect properly. I made sure it was on wifi perferred (it's been that way all along). I fooled w/ the settings for the actual wifi connection. I turned on and then off again the "allow inter-access point handover". Our SSID is not broadcast so I don't think that box should be checked.
I did a battery pull and restarted the phone and the wifi *and* UMA came on for the first time. This was short-lived though because as soon as it switched over to the mobile network, I couldn't get it to connect to the wifi network at all (even if I turned off mobile), and the UMA of course disappeared again.Any additional suggestions would be most appreciated. Yesterday the wifi wasn't acting funny (I don't think anyway) but I still couldn't connect over UMA.I'm open to other firmware versions (mine is stock .330) if it fixes the UMA issue.
My V key needs a serious press to register. Wondering if there are any better solutions than getting it replaced since the trip to the Telus store is an hour and a half each way and they'll only fix it and not replace it. Takes an average of 3 weeks and by then I'm back in Toronto. So I'm waiting at least til mid-may/june for a working keyboard. Can I open up the phone and clean under the keyboard or something without screwing up my warranty?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWell I have Three UK Carrier and my internet data is 150mb, but for some reason is that I go on to BBM and I go to invite a friend by scanning there barcode; it doesn't work it just says pending. I have tried Registering in host tables thing, then pulling out battery and it didn't work. Also on my friends curve, instead of 3G he has GPRS. Just too add, how do I change and check my BIS because its on Wifi and I think it should be on 3G im not sure.

One of the phones is working fine.The other phone is not connecting to the 3G network. It is not even showing the 3G network when I manually search networks. I want it to connect to the 3G network because WIND only uses 3G.Both are running the same( latest )OS version. I have switched sim cards(to no avail) and I have tried to restore it to factory settings using the wipe feature in the security settings(nothing)
Both phones are next to each other. One is showing 3G the other is showing 2G (same carrier).what gives??
I've had the 9700 for several months without issue, when randomely, this morning the phone started typing by itself -'L' and 'H' like this...lhlhlhlhlhlhlhlhl- until a message pops up that says "field full". The phone won't respond to the back button and I can't turn it off using the power button - I have to manually pull the battery out to turn it off. When I put the battery back in, it goes to the home screen, but the trackball only works intermittently, and I can't open any of my mailboxes or make calls. Then, about 20 seconds after I put the battery back in, the lhlhlhlhhlhl thing starts again...I have no idea what is going on, but I use this phone for work, so I really need to figure it out...

After a while in that conversation it will start to not work, it will move around bits of text from conversation, it wont let me scroll through messages, then is slow to send, if I leave conversation it wont let me get back into it. View 5 Replies View Relatedmy blackberry has worked fine in the couple of months i have had it, however a few weeks ago the browser and bbm completely stopped working. i took the battery and sim out and then when i put them back in it worked fine again.a few days ago the same thing happened, i tried taking the sim out again and it didnt work, have done it a few times. i rang o2 and they suggested putting it on to manual network and try connecting again, have also done this a few times and it still hasnt worked. i have the right plan and pay to get unlimited browsing, it usually is fine but stopped working randomly.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is my first post. I write to you after several weeks of frustration with my phone as well as a million calls with Rogers customer support.
My problem :
1)I cannot browse the internet using the internet browser both on wifi or Roger's data network
2)Facebook app cannot establish a connection to the server
3)When I use the Browser app it will work for like 10 minutes but then all of sudden the internet just stops working.
I believe all of the three observations listed above have the same root cause. What is odd is that BBM works, my email works, BB app world works, I can even browse with the web2go browser - just not the three items I have described above.I really don't want to restore my phone because i have paid apps and i don't want to pay for my apps again.
My failed troubleshooting attempts so far :
1) Removed battery and sim card + reboot. Done it 1,000,000 times - no success
2) Resend service books - no success
I am at ends with the situation.
The tracker pad on my Bold 9700 has stopped working and, despite taking out the battery and rebooting the phone, I can't think what else to do. I have managed to find a way to see SOME of my e-mails and the occasional text by using the search function but my phone was set to silent when it stopped working so I can't even hear it when someone phones me now.

It says 'Requesting' along bottom and watch bar slowly move across, then it eventually says:'Unable to connect to the selected Mobile Data Service, please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your administrator'I've gone into a Bell store and after taking the battery out and back in(which I told him I'd already tried to no avail), he suggested its because my system is on v.5 and that I should go home plug it in and update it. Went home, plugged it in and 'no updates available'.Have now resorted to support forum solutions as its a business phone and can't let it get sent away even though I pay extra every month for the service plan. Have tried the Service Books recommendation and no change.

It just takes a shot of a white screen. Should I update the OS and try again? I'm currently running .330 which is the default for all tmo bolds. This is the only solution I can think of. If anybody knows something I don't about this please speak up.
