I was reprogramming my speeddials and assigned one to the q key.Now I've lost the keylock shortcut which used to be there.can I get it back?I know about making shortcuts by disabling the "dial from homescreen" option. That's not what I want.I want to go back to holding the q (or *) key and locking my keyboard like I used to be able to.
No Red light Nothing. When I read another post on the fourm they indicated to take the battery out for 8 hours and replace it I did and boom he ed light appeared and I tried to quickly connect to desktop manager and download 4.6 and midway through the bold went dead again no red light nothing. After multiple attempts it came on again but for only 5 min and went out. I have critical data I need to recover. Any suggestions ?
Recently I bought a second hand Bold 9000. The first time I used I somehow managed to delete the entire contacts folder while making calls. I hadn't worked out how to sync it with my macbook so I have no back-up (I do now).I don't care about the small number of contacts I'd added to the folder, I just want to get a contacts folder on the phone again.
I was using my Blackberry Desktop manager last night to move a video from my laptop to my BB Bold 9000.Now, in the move from my "computer" to a folder on my media card, it DELETED all the videos I had in that folder.I know there were there before I made the move as I saw them located on the bottom part of part of the manager. Then, they were gone. The reason I am in suck a worry about getting these back is they are very personal videos for me. (Of my daughters 1st words, steps, etc)I NEED to get these back.
Under the previous OS version 4.6 , under MENU - APPLICATIONS - NOTES, I have a few text notes saved on my Bold 9000. After downloading and installing the new OS version 5, I seem to have lost all my Notes. Have I lost them all permanently, or are they located elsewhere I have not seen?
I bought my blackberry about 4 months ago and it has been working fine with SIM cards from different countries, until now! My provider is O2, and I lost my SIM card and so I had to get a new one to replace it, and after it has been registered and everything sorted out from the provider's side, I found out I cant make any calls, send texts nor receive calls on my phone! Sim card works fine, as I have tried using it on a different handset. So it is my blackberry. Is it the settings I have to change? I hope I don't have to send it for repair.
After I set the date of my BB Bold 9000 to 6 July 2015 I lost all previously received email messages and text messages. It is amazing that this can happen without any warning. This is definitely not the first time I'm loosing all my data. It's so frustrating that I'm considering strongly to leave BlackBerry and switch to another make. Also a helpdesk you can call to and speak to a real person seems to be not in place at BlackBerry. Maybe they hate customers?
Since I switched phones from a 9000 to a 9700 I tried doing this through desktop manager. But everything got erased from the 9000 (contacts, everything!) and nothing got uploaded to my 9700. Is there any way I can find the lost info??? I am pretty sure i never did a back up from the 9000. I cant believe I lost all my contacts!!!
I've accepted the fact that after the latest update the keylock button does not lock password enabled. But WTF happened to the silent mode? The button is not working at all :S is it to do with my phone or has the latest update cancelled that as well?
I've just upgraded my Blackberry 9700 to firmware 5.0.0.593. I noticed the Auto Standby 2.4.1 utility that locks the keyboard after 30 seconds doesn't function anymore. An automatic keyboard lock is a very basic functionality for every phone and it would be good if it can be reinstated in a future firmware release. I'm now using Ultimate Lock but this can't be activated by the top-left lock button. I'm also a fan of the Bedside mode as it prevents the LED from blinking at night and switches profiles automatically when you put it in the charging pod. Is there a way to prevent the clock from being displayed while the phone is charging in bedside mode? I've already set "Dim Screen" to Yes but it still lights up the room.
I somehow lost the phone shortcut on the lock screen (the most right one). I try to go to personal -> Lock Screen -> Settings -> Tap on the shortcut to assign an app. The problem is, there is no "Phone" app to select.
I had to restore to factory settings. Since then I have lost the shortcut to Facebook for HTC Sense. I have the friend stream and it is still showing as an account in my settings but I cant get into my actual Facebook page.
I am using 8520 curve I have set left side to to lock the keypad. When I updated the phone I lost the shortcut for locking the keypad. When I tried setting it up from option/screen/keyboard, I could not find option to set left side key to shortcut.
Why can't RIM develop a Bold 9xxx with the body of the Bold 9000 with larger memory, Trackpad, better camera? They've done it with the Tour and Curve. Plus they've got all the parts available already, just need a little engineering to fit the trackpad and everything else. C'mon RIM. We know you can do it. I'm sure you'd sell millions of them.
Quick question. I am starting a new Job and they are getting me a superbasic Perl. I need this for work and so I will be forking some dough out of my pocket to get one of the two following phones: Bold 9000 (I'll pay 100$ Canadian, not Us) Curve 8530 (pay 24.99$ Canadian). I am very used to the Iphone and HTC Touch Pro 2 (not trying to start a flaming/argument/anything else , its just what i'm used to). I am very used to browsing with the other phones and I have heard that BB phones are not up to par, so my expectations will be low. Out of the two phones however, does one perform better than the other (Curve 8530 vs Bold 9000)? Out of the two phones, which one do you recommend overall. I have read that the Bold 9000 even though it is older, it still outperforms the 8530...
I dropped my BlackBerry Bold 9000 on the weekend and damaged the LCD screen. The device still works, but two thirds of the LCD is now white and there's what looks like an inkblot on the left side of the screen. I'd like to try to fix it, but don't really want to shell out a lot of $ to do so --- I'm a month away from upgrading.Does anyone have any suggestions, or perhaps a dead BlackBerry with a working screen that you're willing to part with? A DIY repair -- this is out of warranty anyway -- looks straightforward, but I'm not sure I want to spend the $100 or so for a new OEM part to replace the LCD screen.
I have a bold 9000 and I can not connect to the internet. Carrier is AT&T and I live in the North East (NYC area). Worked fine up until yesterday (Jan 25). Now gmail, facebook, browser - none work. I've tried the battery pull, turning on/off the network, run a diagnostic test from mobile network options. In the mobile network test i get the volling anomolies "Blackberry PIN-PIN: No" and it says can't connect to my email (gmail).
A few days ago I pulled my phone out of the holster and It was really hot and when i looked at it i realized it was off, and wouldnt turn back on. just a red light comes on like normal upon a battery pull but after it turns off the red light comes back on again once more then stays off for good. unless i plug it in then it comes on and goes off all the time. I got it powered back up yesterday but then it did it again. Today I plugged it in and I saw a picture of a battery come up on the screen showing it as empty, i was hoping that meant it might charge up. but no such luck. My main objective is just to get the phone up long enough to back up the info on the phone.
Love this phone but the lack of a proper password protected keylock is a blight on an otherwise great phone. Is there ever any hope that sony will implement one? Or will I just end up switching to HTC/back to Nokia.
As the heading states we have an N8 in the office (one of about 5) which exhibits a very strange symptom. After the first few days of having terrible battery life, even when doing very little with the phone, we tracked down the error to something which happens when keylock gets activated the first time after starting the phone. Using Nokia Energy profiler, we've found out that as soon as keylock is activated the CPU usage goes to 100% and never comes down afterwards, except when turning phone off and on again. Done factory resets (via phone meny, Restore and Delete data) and this problem shows up even when installing only the most basic apps - last time it appeared after installing swype, so now resetting and installing nothing.
How does one set the key lock to cut in automatically after a certain number of minutes of not being used. I've had that facility on all my recent (much much cheaper) phones but can't see how to do it on my 8520. Also is it possible to set the key lock with the 'clock' app open? That would be particularly useful.
Every time I take my keylock off, the phone id asking me to "select connection" between "search for WLAN", "Internet" or " WAP services." Seems to make no difference to the operation of the phone whichever I select, or if I click Cancel.
I have just installed the new BlackBerry software update for my 8520 and the Keyboard lock icon has disappeared! It is one of the most important functions for this phone which will open applications or try to phone people at the slightest excuse. I've opened up everything I can find in the various menus but can find nothing related to this & searches using words like Keylock or Keyboard lock on the BlackBerry website come up with solutions to spelling check or highlighting problems! Incidentally initial quick look at update seems to be an improvement, in appearance at least.
