How does one set the key lock to cut in automatically after a certain number of minutes of not being used. I've had that facility on all my recent (much much cheaper) phones but can't see how to do it on my 8520. Also is it possible to set the key lock with the 'clock' app open? That would be particularly useful.
View 5 RepliesI've just upgraded my Blackberry 9700 to firmware 5.0.0.593. I noticed the Auto Standby 2.4.1 utility that locks the keyboard after 30 seconds doesn't function anymore. An automatic keyboard lock is a very basic functionality for every phone and it would be good if it can be reinstated in a future firmware release. I'm now using Ultimate Lock but this can't be activated by the top-left lock button. I'm also a fan of the Bedside mode as it prevents the LED from blinking at night and switches profiles automatically when you put it in the charging pod. Is there a way to prevent the clock from being displayed while the phone is charging in bedside mode? I've already set "Dim Screen" to Yes but it still lights up the room.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just installed the new BlackBerry software update for my 8520 and the Keyboard lock icon has disappeared! It is one of the most important functions for this phone which will open applications or try to phone people at the slightest excuse. I've opened up everything I can find in the various menus but can find nothing related to this & searches using words like Keylock or Keyboard lock on the BlackBerry website come up with solutions to spelling check or highlighting problems! Incidentally initial quick look at update seems to be an improvement, in appearance at least.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi got my BB last week ok, so, i got invited to a group, i was the 30th member, the chat and images uploaded were loading so my BB started lagging ALOT, i thought it was other thing, so i googled "how to make blackberry faster" and i found an "activate Automatic Memory Clean" thing after activating it, i locked the BB cause i always lock it, then a message popped saying something like "blackberry is rebooting and it will take a few moments" well the few moments were more like a few 10+ minutes, so i took the battery out to restart it, after that a white screen with the loading clock icon appears, then suddenly the screen goes black and red light flashes a bit, then back to the white screen with clock, and so on
View 4 Replies View RelatedI know that the lock icon is missing after the new upgrade and you have to push the A* then mute to unlock or set a password and the lock icon will reappear and then one has to enter a password to unlock phone.i get it but i hate it.i like the old way of being able to lock the phone and unlocking.can anyone tell me how to downgrade to old software or find an easy solution for this.is driving me nuts.also my calendar has created a double entry for all of my current appointments.i really hate the new upgrade.thought it was going to be better but haven't seen it yet.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Curve 8520 that's brand new. However, I notice when I zoom the camera and take a picture, the camera doesn't actually zoom in. All it does is resize the image so that it gets smaller the more it says the zoom number. For example, If I take a picture at 1x zoom, it will be 1024x768 pixels on my computer screen. However, if I zoom in 3x, it makes the picture much smaller (like 600x800) and more focused (and pixelated) on the center of the subject of the picture.
So that on the tiny Blackberry screen, the picture appears bigger when resized down a lot. When has digital zoom meant resizing the image to fool the user into thinking that it is zoomed only when viewing it on the blackberry screen? When I zoom in, it should keep the picture the same size! What a gip for a relatively high quality phone camera too.
My trackpad can still move right, left, up and down. However, the press function is no longer working as well as the entire keypad. The phone is working normally, I can receive text, calls, bbms, etc. However, I cannot just view and answer. I tried to update my OS, put a paper over the battery to tighten, I have removed the battery pack and replace a million times, tried to re-charge, removed sim and memory card and re-place but none of these tricks seem to work. I am hesitant to open it up because it will void the warranty.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAs the heading states we have an N8 in the office (one of about 5) which exhibits a very strange symptom. After the first few days of having terrible battery life, even when doing very little with the phone, we tracked down the error to something which happens when keylock gets activated the first time after starting the phone. Using Nokia Energy profiler, we've found out that as soon as keylock is activated the CPU usage goes to 100% and never comes down afterwards, except when turning phone off and on again. Done factory resets (via phone meny, Restore and Delete data) and this problem shows up even when installing only the most basic apps - last time it appeared after installing swype, so now resetting and installing nothing.

When I reach into my pocket to answer a call I almost always end up ignoring the call by hitting the end button. Even though I set the lock function to stay locked when you get an incoming call it does not do this. I would like the app to force me to unlock the phone to answer. Well, im not a very heavy BB user but ive never had my batt go dead on me but it happened! i totally couldnt turn my phone on until i put in my charger.Then it happens randomly whereby my phone will heat up and the battery drops 5% every 10mins or so! until it shuts off!! It happened once right after i fully charged my phone and it shut off within the next hour.Anyone knows whats happening?? i suspected whether it was any of my installed apps that are draining my batt, so i shut off everything! i mean no msn no foursquare no twitter only emails are on but yet it still happens!!Help please? i hope its just the batt thats screwed not my phone.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an ATT 8520 Curve unlocked to work with a tmobile sim card and have a few questions...Now that's unlocked I cant setup an external email account (hotmail, gmail, etc...) that icon is missing from the setup section. how can I get that feature? can I also use the bbm feature? I added a friend (and vice-versa) but it just stays as pending. is it possible to bbm? for the above 2 do i need to get the bb data plan so they can work? I've read elsewhere that the best way to get the features would be to load the tmobile handheld software. I went to tmobiles site, I enter my ph# - select the 8520 - click on handheld and it takes me to their 'shop for phones' page. I guess they now by the number that i dont currently have a bb. So I tried a friends ph# from tmobile who has a bb and it still took me to the 'shop for phones' page. So I Am hoping it's just a link glitch going on right now. I did download from this forum the 5.0 OS "8520wifiM_PBr5.0.0_rel860_PL5.2.0.47_A5.0.0.509_W ind_Hellas.exe" which obviously is not tmobile. What would loading this different OS allow me to do? Or what features will I have available? and I have lowercase 'edge'.
