So I woke up to my phone only partially working on sunday. By that I mean it turns on and works in that sense, but none of the buttons do, so I cannot get it out of standby/sleep mode. I can still back everything up, but cannot figure out a way to get to the contacts. Even syncing with DM will seemingly not allow me to lift the contacts from the phone onto my computer, only to sync with Addressbook.
View 9 RepliesHad MPT 5.05, have updated it fully online - 5.31a. Downloaded Motorola Driver Installer 5.20 and did a Clean and Reinstall on those. Windows XP SP3 recognizes phone when plugged in with proper USB cable (Motorola OEM cable for this phone).Clients husbands phone, screen went dark, AT&T said they would have to repair the phone before being able to pull off contact list and photos. Plus charge for the process of pulling off. Right.First thing I noticed, if I plug the USB cable into the phone, then into the USB port on PC while phone is OFF, the outside screen lights up and inside screen lights up with HELLOMOTO splash screen, after a few moments, both screens go dark and will not come back on.
MPT sees that the phone is there, however, constantly returns that it is not ready due to possible OTA or starting up, wait... message when trying to find contacts on the phone.Question - is there something on the phone that needs to be done to put it into a mode where it can talk to the PC?uestion 2 - the screen is not DEAD as I can tell from the HELLOMOTO splash screen, what could be causing it to go dark when leaving that splash screen?
My screen went white with a line down the side. AT&T store could not get my contacts transferred to new phone. Is there any way to do this? Dead phone did not have an Icloud account.

View 3 Replies View Relatedok, so yesterday when i connected my n85 to my laptop for the 1000th time, the theme on my phone automatically changed, i was like weird, but anyways, then i unplug my phone and realize 1. don't have any applications downloaded to my phone like opera mini and other juicy stuff 2. my phone doesn't read ovi maps at all, i click on maps and it doesn't do anything 3. when i try changing the themes, it says corrupted theme 4. when i try to check if my application are still on the memory card, they are shown on my file mgr but not in the menu 5. i tried restarting my phone, same gay junk. 6. but videos are still accessible via the video center, so it reads the videos off the memory cards but nothing else. 7. preset buttons have changed
am i screwed? is my phone busted, what happened? had it for 5 months no problems but now
Anybody knows how could I possibly restore contacts from a *dead* 7210c? NSU doesn't seem to like the USB connection with phone off, but I guess if it's possible to flash it from dead there must be a way to access its internal memory to, right?
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy Lumia 1520 has a permanent discolouration in the lower right hand corner. There's a rusty purple blotch about the size of a pinky finger nail clipping about a cm above and half cm to the left of the menu ellipsis.
This blotch is ONLY VISIBLE ON BLACK BACKGROUNDS. When the screen is white or any other colour, the blotch doesn't appear.
I can see two lights at the edge of the screen (one above and one below the discolouration.)
This is strange because all the overheating issues are localized around the top left hand corner of the screen to the left of the camera lens. I assume the processor is in that region.

This semicircle has been there since I got the phone but I didn't know it wasn't supposed to be like this before my friend told me.

My phone told me i had to update it to new software.So I connected it to my computer (running win7).I started the nokia phone update software, which correctly identified my phone etc. It told me it was normal it could say the phone got disconnected.After a few minutes, it told me my phone was disconnected and I had to unplug it, unplug battery, put everything back in and press power for 1 second to resume updating. That doesn't workHard resetting with shift + space + backspace also doesn't work. The phone vibrates for a second and does nothing. I do see a little red light inside the navi-pad.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI washed my iPhone 4s last week. I just got my replacement phone. I want to restore from iCloud (for my calendar) and iTunes (for everthing else like contacts, etc.) but when I try to do that it says I have to turn off "find my phone" from my old iPhone. My old phone's display is dead so I can't do anything on it. It still rings when I get a call but I can't answer it.

Part of the screen on my HTC Desire has turned pink. It is in the top right hand corner of the screen and looks like a semi-cicle (shown in the image). Has anyone else had this issue or know what is wrong? I am not sure whether I have an AMOLED or SLCD version of the phone screen.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a red 920.So I charged my battery to 100% and took it off the charger. This was in the middle of the night (yes, I'm a night owl). But I did it because I wanted to test it with absolutely no use. So I set the wifi to always on and left the phone. four hours later I checked the battery. It was down to 60%. This was after absolutely no use. The only thing I have is two email accounts set to fetch every hour.
i then recharged to 100% again, changed the wifi settings back to the original setting and left it for another 4 hours. The battery was down to 63%. Not that much different from setting wifi to always on.However, previously my phone would lose at most 1% after idle for even 8 hours. As I stated my battery life has always been very good.the only difference was the OS update, no new apps, no setting changes, etc. I have to assume it was the update. I know it's not really scientific and partially anecdotal but it is what it is.

Tried all the tricks I know but nothing works. Only the Apple icon will appear on the screen for about 20 seconds. ITunes does not detect the phone so I can not reset/restore it.If I try to recharge it, no battery icon appears.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was recently on a trip and went swimming with my phone.  The covers were all closed and about 2 minutes in to my swim the the camera stopped working.  The battery (which was fully charged) died within a couple hours after the camera stopped functioning.  I tried plugging it into the charger and the charging screen came on for a minute and then dissapeared.  It did not charge and since then the phone is dead.  I currently have my phone in rice hoping that  out any moisture that got in.

I took the phone out of my pocket, hit the power/lock button, and nothing happened. I tried double tapping the screen, holding the power button down for a loooong time, plugging it in. Everything.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had an N97 for 5 months, yesterday my battery drained completely, a normal drained, I didn't try to turn it on. I connected the charger to the phone and the white screen with nokia came up (first the white screen, then the blue nokia word). The usual symbol for the battery didn't show up. I left it like that, thinking it was charging. Then, I tried to turn on the phone but it didn't turn on, it stayed with the white nokia screen. I tried taking the battery off and putting it again and the same happened, checked the battery with a firend, it actually charged to 6 bars, but my phone won't start (also, tested with my friend's N97 battery). Connecting to PC has the same problem, the Pc doesn't realize something is connected.
Tried to leave it alone for without touching, and waiting hours for the white nokia screen to go away but nothing happens.
Background:Bought a bold 9000 the day it was released in Canada. Worked perfectly, maybe dropped it a few times but everything was working. Recently I upgraded to the 9700 and sent my brother my 9000.He had it for a week with Telus (originally on Rogers, and unlocked). He then dropped it off his bed onto a hardwood floor (not very high). Since then it would not turn on, no red LED or anything.I went over all the common steps to getting it working:
-Battery pull
-Take out Sim Card, and battery
-Try connecting to wall charger or pc with and without battery
-Basically everything listed in other posts with the same problem
So the above steps (search for details on them) work for some people, and not for others.So it was dead, he mailed it back to me to try and fix. I tried all the common solutions again with no luck.Then I decided to try something else.How I fixed it:You know when your computer is screwed up, and someone suggests to reset the bios settings? All computers have a little backup battery to keep your settings, and keep the clock running on your computer. So even when it is unplugged from the wall and you turn it back on the time is right.Well the 9000 has a similar battery, I am not 100% sure what it is used for but removing it completely solved my problem. I know it is used to keep the time when the main battery is removed - what else i'm not sure.. Mine seems to work fine with it removed. It does not reset any other data it seems, all contacts, email themes and everything are still intact.Once this battery was removed, I put the battery back in and everything works perfectly now! The only issue I have noticed is that the time does not advance once the battery is removed.. Since my brother always has his phone on, and it updates the time from the network there is no big problem with this. -Again, the time works perfectly as long as the main battery is in.Here are the steps, you don't even need to dissassemble the blackberry:
1 - Remove the black plastic sticker on the back
2 - using a small screwdriver (or better yet, soldering iron) remove the small circular battery from the PCB.
3 - put battery back in and pray

I suggest this only as a LAST resort on phones that are not under warranty anymore. I will not be blamed for anyone breaking their phone (more?).
A few days ago my phone stopped working. It wouldn't switch on, there was no red light, but e battery worked in friends phone so that isn't the problem. All I want is for the phone to switch on, even if it has no contacts etc and is just like it when you get it for the first time.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy blackberry torch seems to be a bit faulty in some way at the min , I've recently purchased several batteries for the phone, all of which working perfectly when I leave the shop, when home I charge them up to full and use it as normal no problems. I continue to use the phone until it completely runs out of charge but when it comes to charging it again it shows a battery with a Red Cross through it and after reading other comments of just leaving it to charge I did that but nothing happened so went back to the shop they tested the battery only to find it completely unuseable and me having to buy a new one.

It remained plugged into my laptop overnight, during which time the laptop went into sleep mode. When I opened up the screen this morning, the BlackBerry dialog box said the update was completed successfully; however, I have been unable to turn the phone on at all.
