Nokia :: Phone Dead After Software Update / Phone Got Disconnected
My phone told me i had to update it to new software. So I connected it to my computer (running win7).I started the nokia phone update software, which correctly identified my phone etc. It told me it was normal it could say the phone got disconnected. After a few minutes, it told me my phone was disconnected and I had to unplug it, unplug battery, put everything back in and press power for 1 second to resume updating. That doesn't workHard resetting with shift + space + backspace also doesn't work. The phone vibrates for a second and does nothing. I do see a little red light inside the navi-pad.

Nokia :: 5530 Failed Firmware Update / Phone Dead
Got the phone in trade, so no warranty...Phone works perfectly fine before any of this happens. Basically got the nokia software, updated ect. Go to update the firmware and do what the instructions says. It downloads the firmware and starts to install...halfway through says cable disconnected. Clearly it is not, but i do what the instructions says to reconnect it. It tells me to disconnect, take out batter, reinsert usb then battery and then hit retry. Works, but same problem, halfway thought it "disconnects". After trying this about 5 times i give up. I hit cancel. Now the phone is dead, nothing, can't hard reset, can't turn on. NOTHING.Currently have the phone without battery as someone online (googled) had similar situation and he left the phone for 6hours and it magically worked again...i don't think it will work but i have to try...

BB Torch :: Phone Dead After Latest Update
I just updated the operating software on my Torch last night as I went about doing other things. It remained plugged into my laptop overnight, during which time the laptop went into sleep mode. When I opened up the screen this morning, the BlackBerry dialog box said the update was completed successfully; however, I have been unable to turn the phone on at all. I get no lights, no sound, nothing!

BB Curve 8300 :: Phone Dead With Red Light Blinking During Update
I was in the process of trying to update the software for my BB 8310 to Ver 4.5 (so I can have the video recorder) but I disconnected my phone with the USB cord and I got a fatal error message. Now my phone is completely dead with the message light blinking red on and off again. I have tried to put it on the charger (even thought the phone battery wasn't dead before) and remove the battery. Nothing. Still will not turn on and the red blinking light is the only life my little phone has.

Nokia :: N78 Phone Dead - Goes Blank At Startup
My phone has gone dead. Whenever I try to turn it on it just goes blank after the NOKIA boot-up screen, the screen stays lit for a few seconds and then goes dead. I have tried a lot of things like removing the memory card and sim and then turning it on. But none of them work. I have even tried RE-FLASH but nothing happens after that either. And I didnot install any new software or firmware or didnot try to upgrade it. It was just lying there, I saw the screen lit. It gave me a prompt that the phone will restart. I pressed ok. And since then it has gone dead.

Nokia :: N97 - Battery Drained - Phone Dead?
I've had an N97 for 5 months, yesterday my battery drained completely, a normal drained, I didn't try to turn it on. I connected the charger to the phone and the white screen with nokia came up (first the white screen, then the blue nokia word). The usual symbol for the battery didn't show up. I left it like that, thinking it was charging. Then, I tried to turn on the phone but it didn't turn on, it stayed with the white nokia screen. I tried taking the battery off and putting it again and the same happened, checked the battery with a firend, it actually charged to 6 bars, but my phone won't start (also, tested with my friend's N97 battery). Connecting to PC has the same problem, the Pc doesn't realize something is connected.
Tried to leave it alone for without touching, and waiting hours for the white nokia screen to go away but nothing happens.

Nokia 2760 :: Display Went Blank Phone Is Dead?
Was working pefectly until recently, then the display went blank. Looked like it needed a re-charge. That didn't work though, and neither did a new battery. When I switch it on, the Nokia logo appears, and the display lights up for a further 1 second or so. It then dies on me. I tries the firmware reset procedure, but that didn't work.

Xseries :: Nokia X6 Got Disconnected During Software Update?
I wanted to update my software so I plugged it into my PC, everything was going fine, the update started and then my PC decided to not recognise the USB anymore and my phone got disconnected First it went blank, so I switched it off. Took out the battery, tried to put it back on but the screen was black and it was constantly vibrating like mad!!I read quite a lot of posts about problems similar to mine, but there is a slight issue here.. My red.green buttons arent working at all. I suspect people from the service that were fixing my phone before forgot to "plug" the buttons because before everything was fine but I was too lazy to go back and managed to live withough these buttons so I cant try red/green and camera button to restart,What to do? Nokia care point? Does my warranty cover things like that?

Nokia :: E71 Is Dead - How To Access Important Information Stored On Phone Memory
My E71 has died a slow and painful death. Now I've read elsewhere on this forum that the E71 does not support charging via the onboard USB port however:
- My E71 is absolutely dead flat out of battery;
- My E71 is refusing to charge due to some inherant damage to both power charger and charging circuit (because it still won't charge on my Husband's charger);
- I have some very important information stored on the phone memory (not SD card) that I need to access and have no real way of doing so; and
- I have recently done a backup of the phone, but won't allow me to access the file without the phone connected.

Sony Ericsson :: Satio - Phone On Mute When Bluetooth Headset Disconnected
I have two bluetooth headsets, one is HBH-DS200, the other is MW600. The same problem is: If the bluetooth headset was closed first(out of power), You can not hear anything when calling or answer a call. And you'll find the button "Use the headset" appears when calling, actually the headset has already disconnect, meantime the loudspeaker becomes dumb.
Even if I closed the bluetooth function of Satio. The problem still exist. Then if You reconnect to the bluetooth headset, You can hear the sound through the bluetooth headset while playing game, music, video. But while calling, nothing could be heard, the loudspeaker becomes dumb again! You have to power off Satio and restart the phone, if you want to use the call function, not only a media player! The strange is if you closed the bluetooth of Satio first, the phone function works well.

Nokia :: 5610 Broken Screen Full Of Dead Pixels - Never Dropped Phone
So I've had this phone for a little bit over a month. Never dropped it, the screen protector thing is still on there. Last night I talked to my sister for a minute on the phone then placed the phone on my desk. 5 minutes later, I picked up the phone, slide it open and tried to check the time, only to find out that the screen is dead. Full of dead pixels. About 1/4 of the left part of the screen is in one color and the rest of the screen is in a different colors (sort of like this URL... Again, I have never dropped the phone, never got water inside the phone, never exposed it to extreme weather conditions, the sticker behind the phone is still white. So what happened here and what should I do? This is my first Nokia phone in 8 years and I am extremely disappointed.

IPhone :: Phone Dead After Installing Jb App
Just installed a jb app that mentioned something about "quick unlock". I cannot recall the exact title but anyway it seems to have totally killed my 3GS.
Tried all the tricks I know but nothing works. Only the Apple icon will appear on the screen for about 20 seconds. ITunes does not detect the phone so I can not reset/restore it.If I try to recharge it, no battery icon appears.

IPhone :: Phone Is Completely Dead
Hey guys, I don't know what to do. My Iphone is completely dead. I tried everything. It will not turn on at all. I even tried to put in restore mode, nutting the screen stays completely black. Is the phone bricked or something, it's just laying there motionless. The battery was full charged, it was on the cradle actually. Plugged it in the pc nutting. I even used a different usb cable from apple.

RIM :: Getting Contacts From Semi-dead Phone?
So I woke up to my phone only partially working on sunday. By that I mean it turns on and works in that sense, but none of the buttons do, so I cannot get it out of standby/sleep mode. I can still back everything up, but cannot figure out a way to get to the contacts. Even syncing with DM will seemingly not allow me to lift the contacts from the phone onto my computer, only to sync with Addressbook.

BB Bold 9000 :: Phone Dead / No LED / No Power?
I've read through the FAQs, I've read through 100s of posts, I've checked out "how to restore a nuked blackberry", I think I've tried everything, but I thought I would post and see if there was any other possible thing I can try.I got a Bold from Canada and unlocked it for use on AT&T. Everything was good in the world. I've been using it for about a week, and the last couple days I have been connecting my Sony bluetooth headphones and listening to music on the way to work.Yesterday, near the end of a song, the playback froze. I could still navigate, open the browser, use the media player controls, switch songs, but it would never play the track again. I pulled the battery. When I put the battery back in, it would not start up. No LED, no white screen, just dead.I tried a couple things and finally got it to show the red flashing light after leaving the battery out for 10 minutes or so. I got it connected and re-installed the OS. Everything was once again good in the world. This morning, same thing happened with playback, same thing happened when I pulled the battery. This time, I have not been able to get any life out of it. I've tried:
leaving it charging on a wall charger with battery + sim
leaving it charging on a wall charger with battery and no sim
plugging it in to the wall with no battery
plugging it into the wall with no battery and no sim
plugging it into the wall with no battery then inserting the battery later
plugging it into the computer's USB with no battery
plugging it into computer's USB with no battery no sim
plugging it into the computer with no battery, then inserting the battery
plugging it into computer with battery and no sim
plugging it into computer with battery and sim
leaving it unplugged for an hour with no battery
leaving it unplugged for an hour with no battery and no sim
The computer, Desktop manager, and App loader all fail to recognize when it is plugged in.I am really hoping that someone here will have a "one last thing I can try" to get it powered on. Is it worth it to leave the battery out overnight or something, or am I just boned?I really, really, really don't want to send this back to Canada. If that's my only option, anyone have any experience with Rogers and their return/exchange policy and procedure? How painful will it be and how long will I be without my new baby?

BB Bold 9000 :: Last Resort Fix For Dead Phone (no Red Led)?
Background:Bought a bold 9000 the day it was released in Canada. Worked perfectly, maybe dropped it a few times but everything was working. Recently I upgraded to the 9700 and sent my brother my 9000.He had it for a week with Telus (originally on Rogers, and unlocked). He then dropped it off his bed onto a hardwood floor (not very high). Since then it would not turn on, no red LED or anything.I went over all the common steps to getting it working:
-Take out Sim Card, and battery
-Try connecting to wall charger or pc with and without battery
-Basically everything listed in other posts with the same problem
So the above steps (search for details on them) work for some people, and not for others. So it was dead, he mailed it back to me to try and fix. I tried all the common solutions again with no luck. Then I decided to try something else. How I fixed it:You know when your computer is screwed up, and someone suggests to reset the bios settings? All computers have a little backup battery to keep your settings, and keep the clock running on your computer. So even when it is unplugged from the wall and you turn it back on the time is right.Well the 9000 has a similar battery, I am not 100% sure what it is used for but removing it completely solved my problem. I know it is used to keep the time when the main battery is removed - what else i'm not sure.. Mine seems to work fine with it removed. It does not reset any other data it seems, all contacts, email themes and everything are still intact.Once this battery was removed, I put the battery back in and everything works perfectly now! The only issue I have noticed is that the time does not advance once the battery is removed.. Since my brother always has his phone on, and it updates the time from the network there is no big problem with this. -Again, the time works perfectly as long as the main battery is in.Here are the steps, you don't even need to dissassemble the blackberry:
1 - Remove the black plastic sticker on the back
2 - using a small screwdriver (or better yet, soldering iron) remove the small circular battery from the PCB.
3 - put battery back in and pray
The picture of my bold with the battery removed is here: bold_9000 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! Disclaimer: This worked on my phone, but your phone may have a different problem. I suggest this only as a LAST resort on phones that are not under warranty anymore. I will not be blamed for anyone breaking their phone (more?).
