Got the phone in trade, so no warranty...Phone works perfectly fine before any of this happens. Basically got the nokia software, updated ect. Go to update the firmware and do what the instructions says. It downloads the firmware and starts to install...halfway through says cable disconnected. Clearly it is not, but i do what the instructions says to reconnect it. It tells me to disconnect, take out batter, reinsert usb then battery and then hit retry. Works, but same problem, halfway thought it "disconnects". After trying this about 5 times i give up. I hit cancel. Now the phone is dead, nothing, can't hard reset, can't turn on. NOTHING.Currently have the phone without battery as someone online (googled) had similar situation and he left the phone for 6hours and it magically worked again...i don't think it will work but i have to try...
I tried to update my phone's firmware from v4.13 to v5.16. I downloaded NSU and everything was fine until at some point during the update I had to recover the connection,a couple of times, but after that according to NSU the update was successful.
I looked at my 5320 XpressMusic and it's screen's backlight was turn on but the screen was black, the keyboard and everything else were(and have been since then) off and showed no signs of life. I removed the battery and tried to turn in on but all I got was a vibration and backlight,no sound no handshake no nothing.I can't even turn it off so I have to mess with the battery every single time i want it to restart......
I made updated to the latest N900 firmware but the installation stalled on the last 1 sec. Now phone won't boot. I already got a dektop charger and charged the phone and reflash with the 51.1 (pr1.1) update but nothing happens.Tried reflashing couple of times but I always got the same result on the cmd.My OS is Vista 32 bit. I'm trying to update with the US version. Is this going straight to the nokia repair center?I don't know what's going on. battery was fully charged.
I updated the Firmware of my N97 mini (to v30.0.004) after the download and update, the phone could not start-up again. Phone says "Start-up failed. Contact the Retailer." I updated it by dialing *#0000# then clicked on OPTIONS, CHECK FOR UPDATE?
Yesterday evening Ovi Suite proposed new firmware (14.002). I tried to install it, which was a mistake During the installation Suite lost connection to the phone and as I checked the phone it was in test mode. It didn't respond to any keys so I had to remove the battery. After that the phone has been dead. When I try to boot it up or try to hard reset it with three-finger-salute the only response is a short vibration. After vibration the phone stays dead.Removing battery does not change anything.
I have (or better to say "had") a Nokia E66 and Nokia Software updater just completely and unrepairable (said by official service) destroyed my E66 few days after warranty ended. It is unbelievable! I was successfully using it every day until the software update. Software Updater wrote that cell phone is disconnected and I must reconnect it. I have done it many times but every time it failed. So I took cell phone to official service and they told me that they cannot flash it and only way to repair it is to replace mainboard. How is that possible? It worked very fine until software action! So I am supposed to throw my E66 to trash and buy another cell phone? Well, if yes, then not Nokia again. I want to own cell phone which is able to flash phone software without destroying whole phone!
My phone told me i had to update it to new software. So I connected it to my computer (running win7).I started the nokia phone update software, which correctly identified my phone etc. It told me it was normal it could say the phone got disconnected. After a few minutes, it told me my phone was disconnected and I had to unplug it, unplug battery, put everything back in and press power for 1 second to resume updating. That doesn't workHard resetting with shift + space + backspace also doesn't work. The phone vibrates for a second and does nothing. I do see a little red light inside the navi-pad.
I got my Nokia 5530 in December last year and after a hard reset and some sotware updates the problems continue to come back. Right now the touch screen is completely unresponsive and reseting taking out sim and memory cards have no affect. I think the problem could be fixed if i do a hard reset but the send and end buttons dont work.
I see on the 10th of this month there was a firmware update version V30.09.009? But I dont get a choice to install it, device says firmware is up to date.
I updated the phone ( OTA ) to 5.1.1. This updated was supposed to bring some improvements and features ( RAW support ) to the camera. I didn't received them so I tried to update the camera firmware manually.
I entered in the "CameraFirmware Standard" panel ( *#34971539# ) and press "Phone to Cam FW Write", but a pop-up appeared showing "F/W Update fail". Next thing I tried was to flash another stock rom, but this didn't fix it.
The camera is working flawlessly, it's just that I don't know how to update it to the latest firmware. Anything is stock on the phone.
I accepted doing it, so it backed-up some of my data and started the installation. The progress bar remained at 0% for more than 40 minutes and I became suspicious that it was not working. I tried interrupting with the cancel button and that didn't work, so the only way was to remove the cable (yes there were warnings not to do it... still I assumed that this scenario would have been foreseen). Kies woke up with the interruption and asked if I wanted to do an emergency firmware recovery, I said yes and proceeded with it. It gave me some instructions to switch off the phone, replace battery, and remove the cable. I switched the phone off and on again and there appeared a symbol representing the loss of connection to the PC, so I re-connected. The recovery started fine, but half way through it, it failed due to a problem on the phone. Since then the phone is dead. It won't start anymore.
I recently upgraded to firmware v50.0.005.C01.01 but ever since I cannot get bluetooth to be on. Whenever I try to switch it on it just pops up with an "unable to perform bluetooth operation”. I did the three finger salute (hard reset) but no joy. Anyone know if there is perhaps some other setting that blocks bluetooth? Or is there some more technical way to find out what is failing?
I connected my Storm 9520 to my computer and the blackberry desktop manager told me I had an update. So I decided to update it. During the update process, when it says connecting to JVM my device comes up with the following error:
I have tried reinstalling the OS in all the possible ways. From loader.exe, from desktop manager, but I end up getting back to this same error message.
I left my phone to charge one night before going to bed (pulled out the charger when it finished). The next morning the phone had shut down by itself and when I tried turning it on I got white lines accross the screen. That happened for a few more times (sometimes blue or green or red lines), and after I removed and put the battery back in the following has been happening since then : Starting the phoneWhite screen with Nokia logo shows upMessage "Phone start-up failed. Contact the retailer". Phone hangs. If I press the shut down button, lines appear and fade out before phone shuts down.
I tried the hard reset method, but either I am doing it wrong, or it just doesn't apply here. I tried connecting it to my PC, but it is not recognised (probably because a message to select PC Suite doesn't show up). The phone is a few months outside warranty, so it is not financially wise (or viable) to send it for repairs. I am an advanced user and I'm willing to try any flashing utilities guides to restore it to working condition. Could it be the battery needing a switch? I tried removing the memory card & SIM, but the problem persists.
what is the best way to update phone's firmware? (NSU or FOTA) will FOTA get fully updated? risk of updating phones using NSU because of PC faults (power failures, software crashes, etc.) I guess FOTA better than NSU....
Ever since I upgraded the phone's firmware to the latest (v 20.0.080) the mobile dictionary has a weird glitch. I've attached a picture to show.
If i try to find a word from english to vietnamese, the vietnamese equivalent word will have missing letters. For example: i search "hello" and the vietnamese shows: "xin chao: bi ___ u _ l ___ s ng ___ c nhien" (the underscores "_" are the missing letters.Anyone know how to fix this? I've tried reinstalling the application, and the language pack.
I've tried a english to english search, and words don't show up missing letters. this seems to just happen to vietnamese letters.I do a simple search of a vietnamese to vietnamese. even the results show words with missing letters.
Now it doesn't want to connect to Gmail. Says "Unable to connect to imap.gmail.com Server name or port number may be incorrect". Everything, including the Gmail access was working perfectly until yesterday when I installed the firmware update.I am just curious, how could a reputable company like Nokia release such a **bleep** firmware update? Or this is what we suppose to be getting with this free amature software?
I just updated the operating software on my Torch last night as I went about doing other things. It remained plugged into my laptop overnight, during which time the laptop went into sleep mode. When I opened up the screen this morning, the BlackBerry dialog box said the update was completed successfully; however, I have been unable to turn the phone on at all. I get no lights, no sound, nothing!
a couple of days ago I tried to do an update on my W995a via the SEUS program (latest version used, downloaded the day I did the update), It got to about 90% then stopped and stayed at 90% for about 2 - 4 minutes then it came up with Update Failed, I've retried the process a few times and all have failed, I've used the repair feature in the PC Suite program to try to fix the phone but it fails about about 90% as well, I had no issues or software glitches with the phone before attempting the Update. The phone now will not load the OS but instead just sits there with the keypad lights on. Is there a solution to this problem? As this is my main phone and the SEUS program has broken it.

As the title said, my ovi suite crashed during the installation process of the new software ( 31.0.005 ). I did a backup of my phone, but don't know if this and how this is accessible? My phone wont start now.. I don't know what to do.
I've updated my N97 wth v2.2 about a week ago or so. There was no problem updating. After the udate though, i started experiencing some problems. The phone kept restarting itself. As it restarts, a few lines (similiar to atomic absorptions spectra lines) appear on the screen. This bothered me, so i thought i'd reinstall the update. The update started successfully until the phone restarted but never waked up! Before this tho, the update kept failing (showing error that my phone was longer connected, I'm using OVI suite 2.2.0.245 ), but I kept disconnection the usb till the update started successfully. So what I want to tell you guys is that, watch out for v2.2 issues.
So the update is available for the UK phones and I updated my 5530 to the v.20 firmware. Unlike what most users say that the phone is faster, I dont really find that to be the case. When I startup, it takes awhile longer. Sometimes the wallpaper appears and then disappears and then reappears again with the contacts bar and everything. The problem really seems to be the home screen. Every time I go back to the home screen or click on menu, theres a black line in the center, a flash n nothing happens or a flash n it works. Sometimes, the flash is not there and the menu just opens up. I dont really know how to explain that, but I hope uve got an idea of what i'm saying. I'm wondering if I should soft reset.
after an update with Nokia suite yesterday night my N8 wont start anymore. after initiating the update (25.xxx) it was downloading and starting the update. after a while it end with an errormessage. I do exactly remember but it was something like critical connection error. remove cable and restart the telefon for restoring your N8. After this the update will continue. But nothing like this happens. The n8 wont start. It vibrates on time and the display stays black. When i connect with USB cable, the windows USB connection sound appears and after about 5 seconds the disconnection sound appears. thats all. The charging LED is flashing for a while and after about 1 minute this also stops. Pressing the on/off button for abput 10 sec its vibrating 3 times and thats it. I bought this N8 in Libya. It had an aribic language set. I dont do any flashing or other experiments. But some days before i installed some Qt installation files manualy from the Qt symbian 3 development kit on the phone. I have done this for testing some small test applications which i produced with this kit. Maybe these causes the corruption of the phone. But the main question is how to wake up the phone? In the country where i am now is no Nokia service center available. But when i connect with USB cable two device driver are activated with name Nokia parent/generic flashing device
Yesterday a message appeared on my Nokia 808: 'important software update available'. I went ahead with the installation; it informed me that it needed to restart and then I got a white screen with a dialog box saying something along the lines of "don't try to make calls during installation". Okay, sure.
I went to the bathroom and when I got back, black screen. The 3 physical buttons at the bottom were all lit up. I left it alone for about 10 minutes, still the same. I then tried to press & hold the power button, but nothing happened. Decided to leave it overnight.
This morning, the 3 buttons were no longer lit up. Removed & re-inserted battery, nothing. Tried various 3 and 4 finger salutes found online, nothing. Tried to connect to to PC, menu button starts flashing (presumably that's an indication it's charging?). Nokia Suite doesn't recognise the device, but it will ocassionally tell me I connected a Nokia device via a non-compatible USB mode, and it will also give me 'device disconnected' messages. Hmm.
Note that my battery was close to full before I started the update.
Okay, so it's not 100% dead at least, but I'm guessing I'm gonna have to RMA it. Wanted to check here first though.
I really want to get this phone on a 24-month long contract but I have done some research on the web and it seems that this faults with this phone are very common.I dunno if all phones have common faults associated with them, or if the Nokia 5530 has more common faults than usual. Also, are there any known-faults and are they easily fixed? I was wondering what the reputation for this phone is here on this forum.
